It's a little hard to find for me. you can see the sign of the restaurant on the street but you need to go into the building next to it. all the way in & go upstairs to find it. the food is fine. the waiters are very good, they took care of us carefully & friendly ONLY IN THE BEGINNING. wait until the end when you check out. we give them a tip & they are angry tell us we need to tip about 15% or more. no matter if they ask for it POLITELY & GENTLY NOT SHOUT IN OUR FACE. my night was ruined. definitely won't come back, very disappointedView more
We chose this place as we were trying to find a non-touristy!!! Chinese restaurant in China town via this website & looking at the recommendation on my phone. It was a bit difficult trying to find the entrance of the place, as you access it through a business centre serviced probably by Chinese businesses for mainly Chinese diaspora & then take the stairs to the upper level & go towards the south-western corner of the building.
We were a bit more dismayed seeing the white cloth covered chairs & tables, normally used for receptions/weddings but checking their menu we found not only stuff that we love but also that their prices are not high compared to similar prices in UK or USA.
The staff was very friendly & welcoming & although only 3 table being taken, we noticed by the time we left, there were around 8 table occupied near our window table overlooking a wall, which meant we had a quiet environment & the servers were faster.
The food was great, a mix of dim sum, soft shell crab, beef rice etc & noticing how ripped both the table cloths & the menus were, our server told us the owner prefers this for more character!!!View more
Très sympa & bon. Plutôt varié. Prix raisonnables.View more
Good place for your dim sum craving, affordable & tasty. Choose the items that are coming out from the kitchen to be sure you get your food hot. Do not hesitate to ask for special items that are not available on the food cart!View more

Very authentic dim sum. Even the people were rude like in a real Chinese restaurant. The bathrooms however are disgustingView more
Looking for dumplings or siomai, it’s this side of town where you should be having authentic Chinese cuisine. Lots of choices that you wanted to taste each of their special dishes.View more
Mixed Experience at Kim Fung Restaurant in Montreal
I recently dined at Kim Fung Restaurant in Montreal & wanted to share my honest feedback about my experience. While there were some positive aspects, there were also a few disappointments that affected my overall impression.
Firstly, I must mention that the service at Kim Fung was not up to par. The waiter seemed a bit inattentive & it was challenging to get their attention when needed. This lack of attentiveness detracted from the overall dining experience & left me feeling somewhat neglected.
Additionally, when the bill arrived, I noticed that the waiter wanted a 15% service charge after taxes. It is worth noting that the standard practice is typically to calculate the service charge based on the pre-tax amount. This discrepancy left me a bit confused & made me question the transparency of their billing practices.
While I understand that every establishment has its off days, it is important for restaurants to prioritize consistent & attentive service. I hope that Kim Fung takes this feedback constructively & works towards improving their service quality & billing practices.
Overall, my experience at Kim Fung Restaurant was mixed. While the food was enjoyable, the service & billing issue left me with a slightly negative impression. I encourage the management to address these concerns to ensure a more satisfying experience for future customers.View more
my first impression was not great— the floor is dirty, my seat had oil & crumbs, & a couple dishes needed to be swapped out because they were also dirty. the food WAS good i will give them that! it was a bit overpriced, though i suppose everything near old port is.
the carts used to bring food out were also wet & unsightly like something you see to stock chicken in grocery stores… you don’t go to dim sum expecting the keg atmosphere but this place is in serious need of a deep clean & new linens that aren’t ripped & stained . the food is genuinely tasty & i would love to come back but i don’t want to lose my appetite!View more
Food was good. Not the best ever but it was tasty, & there was a lot of choice. The concept was nice too.
But... The service was just awful. Besides the fact that it is over crowded & that the waiters are yelling at each others, which could have a charm on its own, the staff is just rude. Simply rude. They won't take the time to explain to you neither how it works, how it costs, or what the plates are. At the end, it proved to be rather expensive for not that much. We asked for water (we also had tea, of course), we received it at the end of the meal, after asking several times. Considering the service, we decided to give 10% instead of 15% of tip. The waitress proved to deserve 0%, she insulted us in front of everybody saying that we HAD to give her more, that we were cheap, calling on god & even talking about stuff we talked amongst ourselves during the dinner (why was she listening to us instead of working?!?!) & like talking really really loud & very aggressively.. She made us feel really bad & humiliated when she should be ashamed of the service she gave us. Btw I worked in restaurants as a waitress, I would have NEVER done what that waitress did & I do tip well normally because I know how important this is. Matter of fact, even when I get really, really bad service, I still give 10%. It was amongst my worst service experiences before the tip incident, & definitely became the worst service I ever received in a restaurant after. I will never go back there, there are plenty of better Chinese restaurants that will offer you a decent service as well.

Good, by Montreal dim sum standards, there’s no denying it. So to wrap it up, they do dim sums as good as you’ll get in town, though hardly the best per se (there’s not an ocean of difference in between the beter dim sums in town), & the average ingredients (the technique is there, make no mistake about that ) we have in Mtl can certainly leave the right impression that those could have been way better dim sums. But this is indeed among the finest dim sums you'll get in town (the one in Brossard is a tad better though)
Terrible!
We ordered dumplings but were told they were out of dumplings. We ordered Peking duck & were brought 8 pieces of skin. They were probably out of duck, We never got our 3rd dish. We waited a long time. The rice arrived when the meal was finished. We complained & the waiter was arrogant. The place was understaffed. I have eaten at this restaurant maybe once a year over the past 10 years. This was my last time. Terrible experience.
