Balam propose une expérience culinaire dynamique et raffinée qui transporte les convives dans un décor inspiré de Tulum, alliant esthétique élégante et atmosphère chaleureuse. Le menu met en avant une cuisine mexicaine contemporaine et sophistiquée, avec de nombreux éloges sur la fraîcheur des ingrédients, la qualité des ceviches et la saveur des tacos. We had a lovely evening at Balam! The place is beautiful, the food was great & the staff was super attentive to our needs. DJ was a nice plus! The manager is a super nice guy that always made sure everything was to our liking. Don't hesitate to come here for a night out!!

We had lunch on the Febr. 14th 2025,
in an almost empty restaurant.
Even with that it seemed understaffed & the 2 waiters working there were dressed in regular street clothing so not professional.
We ordered Tacos de Pescado, Pato Carnitas
(Duck leg confit) & I had the Secreto de porc Iberico (Pork flank steak pastor style).
I was very happy to see the Iberico porc on the menu, but I got served an overcooked, chewy piece of meat. It was inedible because of the strong coriander taste, smell.
The prices are not bad for a'fancy' restaurant that felt like a cantina & there is only one common washroom.
The restaurant is difficult to find, you have to go out from the shopping mall, it is in the garden. None of the many security guards from the mall could help us with info about the whereabouts of the Balam… 🥴
Maybe in the evening it is better so we will be back with updates soon.

Food was great, but severely understaffed. Slow to come out, inattentive service & we had chaos on our terrible for 30 minutes at a time. They're busy washing empty tables but the ones with customers are not being handled. Multiple customers had to chase down the waiters to finally get their bill… it killed the whole experience for us…
If the drinks weren't good this review would have a one star.
The service was not good considering it being situated in'Canada's premiere luxury mall'.
The food was mediocre for the price
I recently dined at Balam in Royalmount for their Valentine's Day fixed menu, & it was an exceptional experience. As it was my first time eating in the new shopping center, I was excited to try something new, & Balam did not disappoint.

The ambiance struck a perfect balance between cozy & modern, with soft lighting & earthy tones creating a warm & inviting vibe-ideal for a romantic evening.
The meal began with a simple but fresh guacamole, served with crispy tortilla chips, followed by the Ceviche Tulum Campechano. The octopus, shrimp, & branzino were fresh & beautifully balanced with a tangy citrus marinade-a highlight of the evening. The Tuna Tataki was another standout, with tender tuna, a sweet-salty ponzu sauce, & a refreshing mix of cucumber, mango, & coriander that played wonderfully together.
For the shared entree, the Grilled Octopus was perfectly smoky & tender, paired with creamy corn purée & zesty salsa verde. The 28 Days Aged Beef Striploin was cooked to perfection, with creamy potato purée, bone marrow, & a rich red wine reduction that made it a truly indulgent dish.
To end, we enjoyed an assortment of mini desserts-a sweet & fun way to finish off the meal.
The service was top-notch-attentive, friendly, & well-paced. Overall, my first experience at Balam was a memorable one, & I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy a beautifully executed, flavorful meal in Royalmount.
Went with my girlfriends last night. Decor was beautiful but unfortunately the experience was underwhelming. We ordered a few plates to share. Fish Tacos were pretty, but the fish was dry & overcooked. We ordered a ceviché, that was good, but it was a small portion that didn't come with anything (kind of looking for some kind of chip/tostados to eat with it). Service was unimpressive considering the restaurant wasn't full. We had to get up a few times to go to the bar to remind them to bring things we had requested. Nice place, but left something to desire.
Amazing place for a date, very cozy & intimate. Food is amazing & cocktails are very well balanced. Staff is on top of everything & very accommodating. Definitely recommend this place.
