Balam propose une expérience culinaire dynamique et raffinée qui transporte les convives dans un décor inspiré de Tulum, alliant esthétique élégante et atmosphère chaleureuse. Le menu met en avant une cuisine mexicaine contemporaine et sophistiquée, avec de nombreux éloges sur la fraîcheur des ingrédients, la qualité des ceviches et la saveur des tacos. Bien que la carte des cocktails soit particulièrement appréciée, l'ambiance est souvent décrite comme énergique, ce qui en fait un lieu idéal pour une sortie festive. Si le service est fréquemment souligné pour son professionnalisme et son accueil attentionné, certaines expériences varient en termes de temps d'attente et de niveau sonore, notamment lors des périodes de forte affluence. Service accueillant & personnalisé. Très belle terrasse où nous avions l'impression d'être en voyage . De très bons cocktails sans alcool mangue & fruit de la passion. Nous y retournerons bientôt !
Drinks were watered down; we had to ask them to add more liquor to our cocktails.
No water was served when seated. We had to ask the waitress after being seated for a good 15-20 minutes. Felt like we were disturbing the waitress when asking for a request.
Overall; nice atmosphere & decor; top notch music; food was good; but they need to work on their service or else they'll loose clientele.
The restaurant itself was beautiful, service was great! Cocktails were delicious.
I did however find it a bit of a nuisance that as soon as we arrived we were told we had the table for 2 hours only but the table wasn't even ready for us when we got there. I was glad they didn't rush us & allowed us to stay longer.

Balam is an interesting one, we went for Mother's Day & were greeted with a complimentary mimosa! We arrived 3 hours early of a reservation due to mischeduling a different event. Despite this service was spot on, friendly, & accomodating for our unique situation. I'm sure it helped that we came before it got busy but it was appreciated.
When it comes to the food, it was generally good. The guac & chips were delicious, the quinoa salad was one of the best I've had. The tacos (shrimp/octopus & duck) while good, were perhaps underwhelming relative to their ingredients or just not to my taste. The churro dessert was sublime however.
A real winner here is the cocktail menu. I had the pleasure of trying two drinks that came in smoked containers that were both wonderful. I also had a dessert drink called a'Gold of the Gods' that was arguably the best equivalent to an espresso martini I have ever had.
Atmosphere in the restaurant is however average, at least during early afternoon. The walls are somewhat drab, or deliberately done as an aesthetic. All the plants are plastic. I could see it looking better in the darker hours of the day. The center bar is very nice, but some of the seating is a bit cramped. I had to move my chair so servers could pass behind me multiple times.
Altogether, I could see myself returning & trying some of their other fare or to at least reorder one of the drinks. We had a good time & a good Mother's Day, & we appreciate the staff at Balam for making it a good one!
Accueil super chaleureux , service impeccable , mets délicieux , ambiance agréable ! Leur cocktail ? Incroyable ! Ils ont contribué à rendre le jour de mon anniversaire inoubliable ! J'y retournerai sans hésiter !
The waiter was brutal -- never filling up water / never asking if we want another drink despite walking by our table many times / two of share a dessert brings one spoon --- no table recognition at all -- i had to constantly push -- another cocktail more water , cutlery, done with this course etc. re: ask for a beer more than once as they forgot etc....honestly we go out all the time -- this is the first review i have ever posted but its unfortunate there is zero table training
Had a blast! Went with my girlfriends for valentine's day & we had the best time. The restaurant itself is beautiful, easily instagrammable, & it's perfectly located right outside the mall so it has it's own space/vibe. I have to give much respect to Abdullah who gave us incredible service, our experience was elevated thanks to him. The specialty cocktails were REALLY good too. I can't say much about their regular menu since they had a special set menu for valentine's day. The appetizers were so good too, I preferred the street corn (NOT on the cob) & bone marrow tartare. & THEY HAD FRESH CHURROS FOR DESSERT!!! Balam team, excellent job.
Mon amie & moi avons passé une merveilleuse soirée. Tout le personnel était accueillant. La nourriture & les cocktails étaient bons & beaux. L'ambiance 10/10. Une mention spéciale au barman Felix, un service à la cliente impeccable & une bonne humeur contagieuse. Merci à toute votre équipe pour cette belle soirée.
Located next to one of Montreal's best malls, Balam offers amazing cocktails & delicious food. I visited on a Saturday night & it was completely packed. Great DJ, & beautiful Tulum-inspired decor that really sets the vibe. Thanks Stacy for the great service!
If you're looking for an upscale Mexican experience, Balam is the place. The decor is absolutely stunning-it feels like you've been transported to a high-end beach club. We loved the Ribeye Tacos & the Hamachi Tartare; both were incredibly fresh & flavorful. The cocktails are also a work of art . Great music, great service, & a perfect spot for a night out.
