The highlight of the night was the sommelier-knowledgeable, passionate, & spot-on with recommendations. Speaking of food, every dish was packed with flavor, made with fresh ingredients, & presented with care.

Our whole family decided to have a post-Christmas lunch at Babar's in Bromont. The restaurant is located right on Shefford Street in town. There is convenient parking at the back of the restaurant but it is limited & somewhat tight. We parked on the main street, which proved to be an easier exit. One of our daughters made a reservation & we were seated on the top of two floors. Amongst the various dishes that were ordered, our family went for the fried cauliflower (excellent), charcoal BBQed halloumi (very original & very tasty), falafel plate (very good), & the lamb kebab plate. All the dishes were excellent & everyone was very pleased with their meals. The service was prompt & attentive & finished plates were promptly removed from the table, which was a small touch I really appreciated. This is a really great restaurant located in the beautiful town of Bromont. My wife & I will be back & we would recommend to anyone to give this restaurant a try.
What else can you say that hasn't already been said? This place is simply amazing. The food is delicious, creative & comforting. Service really stood out, just amazing waitress full of useful information & tips for ordering. The locals should consider themselves extremely lucky to have such an amazing restaurant nearby. I want to visit Quebec again just to go back to Babar.
Nous sommes allés chez Babar le vendredi 9 mai 2024. La formule du choix & du partage des plats entre convives est très intéressante. Le menu proposé également d ailleurs. L ambiance est conviviale, même si il y a deux services par soir. Ce qui n est pas ma préférence, mais nous nous adaptons à la politique de chaque entreprise. Pas de problème! Le service est vraiment "class" & efficace. La nourriture est excellente, mais en petite portion. Nous avons choisi, à part les entrées, les assiettes de poulet & de côtelettes d agneau, bien présentées & appétissantes Nous étions 4 ...chacun de nous a eu une bouchée de poulet, & chacun a pu bénéficié d' une demie bouchée de l agneau...comme nous avions encore de la place, les desserts au menu ont été très appréciés. J ai signalé à notre serveur que cette maison, que le Babar occupe présentement & qui est très bien rénovée, fut la maison dans laquelle a vécu ma copine durant son enfance. Les propriétaires & l' ensemble du personnel sont venus la saluer & ont posé quelques questions sur cette maison & les alentours proches...ce qui a réjoui tout le monde... Moment un peu spécial quand même! Alors pourquoi pas lui offrir le digestif ou le dessert par égard à cette femme dans le contexte cité plus haut. L art de recevoir. Je fus déçue de ce petit accroc.
Wow, quelle belle expérience! 2 ième visite & la constance est parfaite. Je connais très bien la cuisine classique Libanaise & Babar la transporte à un niveau d'excellence. Décor épuré mais très chaleureux. On débute avec un Hummus "all dressed" avec filet mignon. Servit tiède avec pita maison tout chaud. D'une légèreté incroyable. Olives en side. Wow. Je déteste les olives alors imaginez! Ensuite pieuve, très tendre,grillée avec humus aux pois jaune. Dumplings d'agneau avec crème, citron, menthe & pomme grenade qui donne du croustillant. On recommande 3 à 4 plats max pour 2. Le concept est de vivre la tradition libanaise des repas du dimanche en famille. Alors on partage tout. Ils ont bcp de vins d'importation privée, les prix sont un peu élevé. 2 vins rouge à 58$/btle & on monte tout de suite à 72$. Je vous conseille les vins du Domaine Foura du Liban. Un service impeccable de Olivier. Très sympa, courtois & pro. On a eu aussi Camille qui est très souriante, ils travaillent tous en équipe & cela ce sent. Bref une belle 2ième expérience & on y retourne pour prendre l'assiette shish Taouk pour 2. Ha j'oubliais les desserts. Le pain perdu est une tuerie, le fondant un plaisir coupable sublime & la crème brulée parfaite. Il faut réserver, car toujours complet.
This restaurant deserves each of its five stars. The food was exquisite. Coming from Chicago, a city which offers endless options for middle eastern food, I had high expectations & was not disappointed. The spreads: hummus, baba ganoush & esme were smooth & bursting with flavor. The shrimp were fresh & tasty, & the halloumi cheese salad with dates & honey left me wanting for more. I now dream of visiting Bromont, not only for the skiing but also for Restaurant Babar.
Babar offers a delightful range of Middle Eastern cuisine in a place where its rare to find. While the meat was slightly overcooked, the overall experience was positive, making up for this minor flaw. The staff's friendliness added to the pleasant dining atmosphere.
We enjoyed a fantastic lunch here at Babar, rue Shefford, in Bromont. Babar specializes in Mediterranean fare, & we ordered Pitas, une petite fattouch (small order of flat bread with mixed greens & vegetables), & all dressed Hummus. To say it was exquisite is an understatement; a sumptuous lunch in a most picturesque area of Quebec, is a wonderful memory. The server was fully bilingual, friendly, professional & informative, while the restaurant is well appointed & welcoming. When you are driving through this area, be sure to stop & visit.
My partner & I were seated at the Chef's table - which is right in the kitchen. To be honest, we felt a little akward at first but it turned out to be a fun & interesting experience. The food, drinks, service & staff were absolutely fantastic. I fully recommend Babar !
