Founded in 1945, the restaurant Au Petit Poucet will introduce you to Quebec flavors through a typically Quebec menu.
A rustic and comforting decor, where you will feel like you are at the chalet. The huge central fireplace will ensure a warm atmosphere throughout your meal. Everything is there to give you a unique culinary experience!
We are located in Val-David, a charming village in the heart of the magnificent Laurentides region. You will also find a wide range of recreational and cultural activities nearby, which will certainly make you appreciate the region.
Au Petit Poucet is described as a warm rustic Quebec breakfast and lunch spot in the Laurentians, with a cozy chalet vibe, a large open fireplace, and a roomy waiting area where complimentary coffee and hot chocolate are offered to help pass the time. The menu features generous portions of traditional Quebec staples such as ham with maple syrup, baked beans, tourtiere, cretons, and house made breads and jams, with a noted emphasis on pork dishes and sugar shack style specialties in season. The overall experience is praised for friendly and attentive service, good value, and a family friendly atmosphere, making it a go to for brunch or apres ski moments, though waits can be long on weekends and reservations are rare or limited to large groups. The place is considered an institution in the region, delivering comforting homemade flavors and a memorable ambiance that is often worth the wait.
Best restaurant for authentic Quebecois breakfast for miles around. Their home made smoked ham is the best I've ever had. We regularly drive 2.5 hours just to pick up some ham. A must to stop at while in the Laurentians. Please expect long lineups on weekends.

Can't say enough about this restaurant! Every time we're in Quebec, this is a must stop. The food is the real traditional Québécois fare & is delicious. The portions are huge, too. They don't skimp. & the Country style bread is the best toasted bread to have with their jam! Could have a meal on that alone. The service has always been excellent, as well. Always so fast, attentive & friendly. Never once had a server that didn't have a big smile to go along with breakfast! The atmosphere is as inviting as the food. It's has that warm rustic charm that we love & lingering by the fireplace with family after a great meal just tops off the whole experience. The small deli also sells jams, beets, baked beans, pies, etc. Basically what they serve you can also buy & take home. Suffice it to say, this is our favourite breakfast/brunch restaurant in Quebec! Highly recommend & look forward to our next visit!
A longstanding institution in the area & great food. Very popular for breakfasts with a terrific charming Quebec country feel. The service is friendly & efficient always & food always fresh & delicious. We always bring our guests here when they are visiting the area.
Tried this place on a whim while on vacation up north, & it's become my favourite breakfast restaurant. We live in the south shore but we still drive from time to time just to enjoy the food & atmosphere.

Great ambiance. It felt like going to a sugar shack but with much better food. First time going to a Quebecois restaurant. We had the omelette breakfast which came with maple smoked ham, les oreilles de crisse ( fried pork skin - actually quite tasty), really delicious ham & beans in a maple sauce, fried potatoes & toast. Note the omelette is more like a soufflé. Definitely recommend sharing if you are a light eater. Servers were super friendly Beware this place seems uber popular. There was a 20 minute wait. They don't take reservations.
The outside look of it is gorgeous as well as the interior, it is cozy, it is authentic, it is perfect.
You can enter only to buy some product like smoke ham, meat pie, chicken pie, maple products, etc.
But you can also dine in this beautifull place. The service was friendly, great & very quick. We ordered a mimosa, a bloody caesar, the raclette entree & asperagus plus our 3 meals (croque-monsieur, club sandwich & ragoût de pattes de cochon & boulettes) & by the time we went to the bathroom it was all served. The taste of our meal was spot on, great use of spice, with this amazing warmth of homecook food.
You can bring the leftover home with you for a small cost for the compostable container. The breakfast are actually served all day long if you want. The price of your meal are very fair for what you get.
This place is worth the detour !
