Review Summary

Restaurant Au Petit Poucet is widely celebrated as an iconic destination in the Laurentians, cherished for its authentic and traditional Quebecois breakfast and lunch experience. Visitors consistently praise the rustic, cozy log-cabin atmosphere, the beautiful fireplace, and the generous portions of homemade comfort food, including their famous maple-smoked ham, tourtière, and freshly made jams. While the restaurant is exceptionally popular and does not accept reservations, the well-organized waiting area—complete with complimentary coffee and hot chocolate—makes the experience pleasant for families and groups. Although wait times can be significant on weekends, the attentive, friendly service and the high quality of the meals keep guests returning for years, making it a must-visit regional institution.

My favorite restaurant! Rustic decor, a cozy fireplace, & traditional Quebec cooking done right! The maple-wood smoked ham & tourtière were both excellent, very flavorful & came with homemade Ketchup. The maple on snow is also a must-try, interactive experience. Superb service & welcoming staff every time!

Absolutely delicious food, Sylvie the server was very nice & the pricing was great!

This is a year round sugar shack kind of restaurant & it did not disappoint!!! They make everything in house & you do not want to miss out on the homemade bread & strawberry jam, it was so good we brought some home with us.

The vibe is logcabin rustic & the food is Quebec...

We had eggs, bacon, maple ham (yummy), homemade bread with strawberry jam (even more yummy & HUGE) & homefry potatoes (super yummy). Overall everything was just a joy to discover & our server made it even more enjoyable.

This will be our go to place for breakfast in the area. Ask for Sylvie!

Reviews dont lie, food is excellent. Eggs Benedict sitting on the ham & hashbrown was deadly.

Au petit poucet brings beans & ham to a certain artform. If ever you're a fan of beans, get the casserole with a side of maple syrup. You won't regret it.

Beyond a breakfeast at le Poucet, for more thsn 20 years, I buy, each year when i do my Mapke Shack style diner at home. The Ham, the Tourtiere also called Meat Pie, Beans, & add the famous Option Sucree Maple syrop... always the diner receives four stars... the best from Le Petit Poucet

Excellent french Canadian cuisine. Their specialty is their ham, homemade smoked slowly with maple syrup. Yummy. Very good menu & reasonable price. So popular, there always a waiting , but they built a cool lobby with a central wood, chairs & free coffee as you wait.

Really enjoy Au Petit Poucet for breakfast. Was looking for something different than the usual spots in Montreal & decided to try this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. Everything was delicious from beginning to end! We both took the Ogre dish which came with eggs, sautéed potatoes, bacon, ham, beans with ham & pain ménage. Portions were generous & left the restaurant extremely satisfied!

I really enjoyed my breakfast there. I went early to get a spot & avoid waiting in line. The food was delicious. I got the benedictine with maple ham, it was yummy. The potatoes were super tasty too. They have fresh orange juice that I totally recommend. The vibe is one of the warmest places I've been to in Québec. There's also a big parking lot out front. It seems like on weekends the wait for a table is about 2 hours, so come early. No reservations.
