Founded in 1945, the restaurant Au Petit Poucet will introduce you to Quebec flavors through a typically Quebec menu.
A rustic and comforting decor, where you will feel like you are at the chalet. The huge central fireplace will ensure a warm atmosphere throughout your meal. Everything is there to give you a unique culinary experience!
We are located in Val-David, a charming village in the heart of the magnificent Laurentides region. You will also find a wide range of recreational and cultural activities nearby, which will certainly make you appreciate the region.
Au Petit Poucet is described as a warm, rustic Quebecois breakfast and lunch spot with a chalet vibe and a cozy waiting area around a real fire, delivering a distinctly local and charming atmosphere. The menu offers generous, homemade portions of traditional Quebec dishes such as cretons, feves au lard, tourtiere, and eggs Benedict with maple ham, with many reviews calling the food hearty, well made, and fairly priced for the portion size. Service and ambiance are widely praised for being friendly, attentive, and efficient, and guests often appreciate the complimentary coffee or hot chocolate while they wait, though on busy weekends the wait can be lengthy and reservations are not available. Overall the place is regarded as an institution in the region, worth visiting for the decor, the home made cooking, and the warm, family friendly vibe, with only occasional notes about portion size or service consistency.
Again, another iconic Montreal/up north restaurant that's been around for decades with a rich local French Canadian history.
This place burned down at least once in aware of & was rebuilt & then towards the end of covid they also renovated & I think expanded as well.
The atmosphere is a cozy Canadians country house feel, & waiting for a table is awesome as the have unlimited coffee & hot chocolate & a big open hearth fire pit & Adirondack seating.
Once inside it's just as lovely & window seating gives views of the Laurention mountains as well - beautiful in the winter & fall.
The specialy for lunch & dinner is the infamous home made porc sandwiches & that amazing porc & beans with maple syrup & fresh crusty bread. Add a soup & you have a meal just a soup & beans or soup & sandwich.
Fries are nothing to speak about as they are standard frozen French fries.
This place has an exception breakfast & brunch menue that includes options of mounds of bacon, homemade preserves, homemade crusty bread, homemade beans (mentioned above), & the house specialty would be'Ogre' at a bit over $15.00 Canadian plus tax & tip. This is an excellent place to go as an'Après ski' & you will often see people in their snow gear where stranger often share their experiences amongst each other as it's a very friendly environment. All credit cards accepted & super kid friendly with a kids menue too. If you're going on a weekend for breakfast or brunch, an institution for this meal, go very very early as they are likely going to have a line. They don't take reservations unless it's a large group I think but do check yourself. I've lived this place since childhood & it's always a treat to eat there & enjoy the amazing environment as well as a lovely drive up north if specifically coming from Montreal.
It was a very cabin like feeling. The atmosphere was very cozy with the fire place at the entrance & with free hot chocolate & coffee. The service was great. The people were warm & friendly.

The super famous authentic sugar shack breakfast & brunch. Perfect for tourists.
Weekend lunchtime can have hour-long waits, but the bonfire & free coffee make for a great atmosphere where you can relax & enjoy the wait.
The service, ambiance, &, of course, the delicious food make it well worth the trip.
However, it's best to go when you have plenty of time.
Excellent french Canadian cuisine. Their specialty is their ham, homemade smoked slowly with maple syrup. Yummy. Very good menu & reasonable price. So popular, there always a waiting , but they built a cool lobby with a central wood, chairs & free coffee as you wait.
Amazing breakfast spot! Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, & delicious food. Everything was fresh & flavorful, & the coffee was excellent. A must-try if you're in Quebec!
This by far has been a beautiful experience being my first time here. The waitress was super nice to the point where they suprised us with an Anniversary song & dessert. The coffee here is amazing. The food was delicious the bacon , beans , creton, ham was some of the best that I ever tasted. I will definitely be back 100%

Such a great place! The service was beyond exceptional our waitress was wonderful. Food was plenty full, tasty & authentic québécois. Be prepared to wait as it gets busy but so worth the wait, they serve coffee & hot chocolate as you wait. A must!!!!
Loved everything about this restaurant, even though its super busy & sometimes there is a wait to get in but its worth waiting for. They have a big beautiful fireplace inside the waiting area, along with picnic benches to wait outside! Best part was the complementary coffee/hot chocolate for customers while waiting for a table.
Our server was very nice, & energetic & smiling despite how busy it was which was awesome.
Their iced lattes are amazing, the food quanity & quality was great, prices are great $80 for a family of 4!! Theres so many reason to try this restaurant the whole vibe with the unique decor & the fact that it is local, definitely would go back👌
We tried many different dishes. They were all good, but I found the coffee a little bitter. The staff is very friendly & obliging. Prices are competitive to other local restaurants. In the Laurentians you always pay more than the city.
Heavy on the cozy cottage aesthetic with wood construction, taxidermied animals & animal heads, a full-on roaring fire & Adirondack chairs in the lobby, vintage chair lifts, & more. Free coffee & hot chocolate while you wait for your table but ONLY ON WEEK-ENDS. Also only on weekends are the pastries at the shopfront you can buy to go. I found out they come from Pascal, a pastry shop in St-Sauveur. Drip coffee (paid at the tables FYI) isn't very strong so go for an Americano instead. The eggs benedict are on top of a rosemary/herbs-packed hashbrown.. a bit overkill. My second visit I had a classic eggs & bacon with the insanely delicious & oversized pain ménage! Much better.

Wow, great place to discover! Lunch is excellent; everything is made on site except bread, but ham; bacon beans are delicious. The service is magical (always hot coffee in our cup!) / Let's talk about jams / Ohh yum they are delicious
Big portions of home made food at an affordable price. Eggs & meat are not oily or greasy. The coffee is succulent & plentiful. Eating there is an experience, not just a meal.
Finally tried it after having heard so much positive reviews & they were right ! Amazing food, service was fast , & they even have coffee in the reception room where you wait to get seated . Definitely recommend it !

Nice place. Good comfort food. There was a 1h15m wait for a table (Sunday at 11am) but they have nice waiting area with indoor/outdoor fireplaces & offer free coffee & hot chocolate.
After a long hike up Mont King, we couldn't have picked a better place to refuel than Au Petit Poucet. The restaurant is spacious, busy & lively. We gave our name, got a text when our table was ready, & enjoyed complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, & water while we waited. The food was traditional & delicious-just what I needed after a hike! We ordered « L'orgre » breakfast with country bread, the meal was huge! The strawberry jam on the toasted bread was a perfect touch. The service was exceptional. Even though we were full, we couldn't resist ending with dessert-a decadent pouding chômeur.
My favorite breakfast place in the whole Laurentide, worth a detour every weeks even if I live 1 hour away. Now that I moved far away, it is still my place to go when I come visit without a doubt The food is out of this world, fresh, hot, fast, smoked, home made everything! Take out counter you can choose from smoked ham or sausage, meat pie, maple products & lot more. The service is excellent, every people working is that place are nice, welcoming & kind to you. The ambiance is the best. Makes you feel you're taking some time off in a chalet by the fire. They even have complementarity coffee while you wait for your table!
Old look canadian log cabin fire place good for breakfast or lunch it's been there since 1945 home made food highly recommend 👌 free coffee or hot chocolate while waiting
