We were looking for an establishment with outdoor seating & it was full at when we stopped by. Eloise caught up with us as we were walking out & informed us that the group outside was going to leave shortly & encouraged us to stay a bit longer. She was charming & we agreed. Which was a very good decision as the food was delicious & the service superb. Started with the soup of the day (butternut squash) - creamy & nicely seasoned. Followed up with the Cavatelli maison & Salade chevre chaud. Generous portions & both wonderful. The Creme Brulee dessert, was a perfect way to end the meal. A great meal with terrific service.
Food is great. Portion size is very kind. Service is great.
Complimentary bread & butter was a nice surprise, & we thought it was just one serving but she actually gave us more after we finished our first portion.
Really loved the soup. Salmon tartare was very good too.
Scrumptious soup of the day (Sweet Potato & Curry) followed by Salmon tartare. Chef came out & shared the recipe which I'll be attempting once home. Highly recommend.

Gorgeous Sweet Potato & Curry soup starter followed by scrumptious Salmon tartare. Met the Chef who shared the recipe for the soup, so good. Highly recommend.
We had dinner here on our first day in Montreal. We were so impressed by the food & the atmosphere. The waiter was very nice, & the restaurant was not noisy-it was quiet & easy to have a conversation. We ordered three dishes: the soup of the day, duck salad, & sirloin steak. The portion of dishes was large. I really liked the duck salad. It was special with the crispy duck skin.
This was the first time my husband & I visited Montreal. We stayed at a hotel next to this restaurant. We searched on Google for nearby
a restaurant & decided to have dinner here.
We ordered soup, a house salad, duck salad, & sirloin steak. Everything was excellent! The staff were also very nice.
We highly recommend this restaurant. For me, this was the first time I had ever tried such an amazing duck salad.
A very disappointing experience. Food was average at best, only the soup was delicious, the rest was average, wine was average. Service by the waiter was below average, it's a choice not to smile to customers, a sad one, but not to say thank you for a 20+% tip on a circa $100 is just rude. The manager was the only decent courteous person there.
5-star is not enough for Lea's superb service & warm personality! We also enjoyed the food a lot made by the chef Gary - from the soup to the cod, everything is so fresh & tasty. A very nice dining experience for sure.
thanks to Lea's incredibly warm & welcoming service - she truly made us feel at home.
surprise came when Chef Gary himself came out to introduce the dishes & kindly answered my questions - such a pleasure to meet him & even take a photo together!
The standout dish of the day was definitely the tomato soup - a cold, refreshing surprise with cucumber notes & a beautifully layered mix of spices. Very unique!
The pan-seared cod was super fresh, & I loved the crispy texture of the skin.
The Burger 1881 is one of my favorite - the bun was light & airy, while the patty was tight, juicy, & full of flavor. The coffee was… well, just your average coffee.
Excellent food & service for lunch. Had a soup & salad that came with a warm baguette. Staff is friendly & warm .
