We were nearby & decided to have lunch at a new place, so we checked Google & this restaurant had a very high rating. When we arrived, we waited to be welcomed, which was not a pleasant start. The tables were small, & the items on them weren't complete for all tables. We ordered from the menu, but things only got worse. The bottle of wine was almost empty, & the server shook it just to fill the second glass - very disappointing for the price, especially for less than 5 oz.
The burger was tasty but nothing special, & the steak was bloody even though I specifically asked for well done. It was also served as three small pieces of meat instead of one proper cut.
To make things worse, one of the waitresses was spraying detergent to clean the next table, & it splashed onto our table & even on my hand. Overall, I felt like my job was just to eat, pay, & leave so that I wouldn't bother them. This place is far from a 4.9-star experience, & I will not waste my time or money here again. I hope more people share honest reviews so the rating becomes realistic.

Nous étions dans le coin & avons décidé de dîner dans un nouveau restaurant. Selon Google, celui-ci avait une très bonne note. En arrivant, nous avons attendu pour être accueillis, ce qui n'a vraiment pas donné une bonne impression. Les tables étaient petites, & il manquait des éléments sur plusieurs d'entre elles. Nous avons commandé, mais les choses ont empiré. La bouteille de vin était presque vide, & la serveuse l'a secouée pour remplir le deuxième verre - très décevant considérant le prix, surtout pour moins de 5 oz.
Le burger était bon mais sans rien de spécial, & le steak était saignant même si je l'avais demandé bien cuit. En plus, il était servi en trois petits morceaux au lieu d'une seule pièce correcte.
Pour couronner le tout, une des serveuses vaporisait du détergent pour nettoyer la table voisine, & le produit a éclaboussé notre table ainsi que ma main. Honnêtement, j'ai eu l'impression que mon rôle était simplement de manger, payer & m'en aller pour ne pas les déranger. Ce restaurant est très loin d'une expérience à 4,9 étoiles, & je n'y retournerai pas. J'espère que davantage de personnes laisseront des avis honnêtes pour que la note reflète la réalité.

The burger was juicy. Cooked to a nice medium/well. The fries were alright, but the majority of them were the size of individual hashbrowns, which seemed weird.
I can see why this is rated 4.9 ⭐! I think they've earned every single review as the setting was nice & comfortable, the servers were friendly, & the food was delicious.
Came here for dinner on a weeknight & it wasn't busy at all. The portions were quite large, & you get some bread as starters. The calamari was done just right, & the sauce was tasty. The chicken club sandwich was very good too, along with the pasta. The burger was alright.
thanks to Lea's incredibly warm & welcoming service - she truly made us feel at home.
surprise came when Chef Gary himself came out to introduce the dishes & kindly answered my questions - such a pleasure to meet him & even take a photo together!
The standout dish of the day was definitely the tomato soup - a cold, refreshing surprise with cucumber notes & a beautifully layered mix of spices. Very unique!
The pan-seared cod was super fresh, & I loved the crispy texture of the skin.
The Burger 1881 is one of my favorite - the bun was light & airy, while the patty was tight, juicy, & full of flavor. The coffee was… well, just your average coffee.
I came to eat with my friends & we got the beef tartare with fries..It was excellent!!! My friend got the burger & she loved it. Amazing taste & quality!

I had the hamburger with fries, cooked medium, & it was absolutely phenomenal - possibly the best burger I've ever had. The quality of the meat really stood out: rich, flavorful, & clearly fresh. It was cooked perfectly, juicy without being greasy, & the grilled onions added a sweet, smoky touch that took it to another level.
The bun was fresh & held everything together without falling apart, & the toppings were well-balanced - nothing overpowering, just complementing the star of the show: the beef.
The fries were crispy, golden, & clearly made with care. Every part of the plate felt thoughtfully prepared.
If you're in Montreal & want a burger that's a cut above the rest, Le 1881 is a must-try. I'll absolutely be coming back.
I had hamburger 1881, & sandwich 1881.. The hamburger was perfect-the thickness & tenderness of the beef patty, the balance of seasoning, & the subtle meat aroma all blended harmoniously without being overshadowed by the other ingredients. From the first bite to the last, I could fully enjoy the essence of a real beef burger. Another detail that deserves applause for the chef was the lightly toasted burger bun. The crisp texture with every bite made it possible to savor the food all the way to the last mouthful. For the chicken sandwich, I thought that if the mayonnaise had been seasoned with something like lemon juice or light herbs, the delicate flavor of the chicken wouldn't have been overwhelmed by the heaviness of the mayo.
Rather excellent restaurant, food was amazing & professional service in a modern, but relaxed setting - I took a large portion each of the salmon & beef tartare as entree & main, the salmon in particular was one of the best I've ever tasted Kids had the burger & cedar salad, & crème brûlée & chocolate mousse - they loved it I was slightly less impressed with the wines, but that might just be me, & I would have liked there to be a cheese plate for dessert
En arrivant au restaurant, on a été accueilli chaleureusement par le personnel & le Chef Gary. Les falafels & les entrées de Tartare étaient parfaitement assaisonnés, un vrai délice! Pour le menu principal, on avait choisi, le burger 1881 & les cavatellis. Un des meilleurs burgers mangé à ce jour si non le meilleur & les cavatellis maison étaient incroyables. AU dessert, on a commandé la tarte Tatin, c'est certainement la meilleure tarte Tatin à Montréal. On y retourne sans hésiter, on planifie déjà notre prochaine visite.

Chef Gary makes sure all the food is delicious! I already tried most of the plates on the menu & I've never been disappointed. My top recommendations are, garlic shrimps, burger 1881, oysters plate & the salads to go.
