The chef, Garry, is one of the best in town. The food is delicious, the tartares are the best! & the service impeccable! Despite the restaurant being in the high end MAA sports club, it has its own entrance & its super easy to meet up. It's my favorite place for business lunches or meetings. The music is soft & can talk (thank god) while having great good. Love this place!
Déjà la 3 ème fois que l'on vient ! Jamais déçu, la qualité des produits & top & les prix très abordables! Le service est irréprochable, merci Éléa, merci au chef pour ce délicieux brunch !

We were a little unsure when we walked in as the restaurant was empty. We ordered breakfast. It was lovely. Hubby's eggs were perfectly cooked & everything was tasty. I ordered yogurt & fruit. All fresh fruit & lots of it. The service was excellent. We are going again tomorrow. We enjoyed it so much.
We went back a second time & again it was perfection. Best breakfast in Montreal. We talked to the chef/owner. Such passion for creating exceptional food. It is enjoyable eating breakfast where the chef really cares if you enjoy the food. Such a culinary delight.
Very nice cozy restaurant with the most incredibly nice staff ever 😇😇 They really take care of you! We had the salmon tartare with salad along with the catch of the day (sea bass with potatoes & grilled vegetables) & each bite was just Wow! Full compliments to the chef 😇😇 Cannot wait to come back to this 11/10 restaurant as it's the perfect venue for date nights & chilling with friends ❤?❤?
5-star is not enough for Lea's superb service & warm personality! We also enjoyed the food a lot made by the chef Gary - from the soup to the cod, everything is so fresh & tasty. A very nice dining experience for sure.

thanks to Lea's incredibly warm & welcoming service - she truly made us feel at home.
surprise came when Chef Gary himself came out to introduce the dishes & kindly answered my questions - such a pleasure to meet him & even take a photo together!
The standout dish of the day was definitely the tomato soup - a cold, refreshing surprise with cucumber notes & a beautifully layered mix of spices. Very unique!
The pan-seared cod was super fresh, & I loved the crispy texture of the skin.
The Burger 1881 is one of my favorite - the bun was light & airy, while the patty was tight, juicy, & full of flavor. The coffee was… well, just your average coffee.
Ce resto, c'est rendu ma deuxième maison 😁 Le chef est tellement gentil, la bouffe est top, l'équipe accueillante & l'ambiance parfaite. J'y retourne encore & encore ! 🌺
Great food, good helpings, reasonable price. Servers were a little new, but that happens. We met the chef/owner , very nice .

Exceptionally dedicated & pleasant kitchen chef making a superb breakfast sandwich named 1881 w/ homemade sausage.
Highly recommended.
A bit quiet place, but perfect for me.
Also, coffee machine was not ideally tweaked at my visit, so if a coffee nerd (like me), go here for the excellent food.
Nevertheless, there was a clear desire to to make high class coffee & e.g. grinder was definitely capable & sourcing of beans were also prioritized.

I had hamburger 1881, & sandwich 1881.. The hamburger was perfect-the thickness & tenderness of the beef patty, the balance of seasoning, & the subtle meat aroma all blended harmoniously without being overshadowed by the other ingredients. From the first bite to the last, I could fully enjoy the essence of a real beef burger. Another detail that deserves applause for the chef was the lightly toasted burger bun. The crisp texture with every bite made it possible to savor the food all the way to the last mouthful. For the chicken sandwich, I thought that if the mayonnaise had been seasoned with something like lemon juice or light herbs, the delicate flavor of the chicken wouldn't have been overwhelmed by the heaviness of the mayo.
Le chef Gary & son équipe reçoivent admirablement au 1881. La nourriture délicieuse & l'ambiance très agréable. Une adresse à connaître, surtout pour les groupes (15-20), qui disposent d'un espace semi-privatif dans le fond du restaurant
I don't usually do reviews. But. The food is flavourful, the ingredients are fresh. In line with the MAA spirit the meals are healthy, no chemical or salty sulfite taste. Perfect salads, well seasoned tartares (without tons of mayonnaise), best fries in town... The place feels personal: the team is sweet & the chef - passionate about flavors - is always in the kitchen & often comes to exchange with the customers, to get their honest reviews & to thank them. I have eaten at this place at various occasions by now & I am pleasantly surprised with the consistency of flavors & cooking techniques. & let me tell you - the value for money thing is mind-blowing: good luck finding an alternative for that price! I highly recommend this place.
What a hidden gem! We went for weekend brunch & were not disappointed. Beautiful, chic restaurant with professional & friendly staff. The Smoked Salmon Benedict was exceptional. Fresh, flavourful salmon paired with perfectly poached eggs & a delicious hollandaise sauce that left us craving more. On the other hand, the 1881 Breakfast was absolutely incredible. The tender meat, flavourful mashed potatoes, & a fried egg with a runny yolk created a perfect harmony of textures & tastes. This dish was truly a surprise that elevated our breakfast to another level. Hats off to the chef! To be completely honest, the pictures don't do it justice.

super resto au coeur du centre-ville! une ambiance chaleureuse & décontractée, des plats d'inspiration bistro pour tous les goûts & un personnel attentionné avec un chef très présent pour tous également. parfait pour des rencontres entre collègues ou une date, autant pour dîner que souper! BONUS cafés, smoothies & petits plats à emporter pour les plus pressés!!
Very elegant bistro with a rare familial atmosphere. I have tried all the dishes & I never get tired of it, they are delicious! I organized many events, it's the best place for it & the chef is flexible on the group menu. One of my favourite place in Montreal!
