Rendez-vous Bistro is widely praised for authentic Indian cuisine with strong Rajasthan influences, delivering flavorful curries, paneer dishes like paneer kolhapuri and paneer lababdar, and hearty vegetarian options that pair well with generous naans and lassi. The menu showcases bold flavors such as laal maas and dal makhni, and the thali options offer a satisfying variety for both vegetarians and meat lovers. The overall dining experience blends warm hospitality with a cozy, inviting atmosphere that many describe as royal or refined, making it popular for families, dates, and group meals. Service is typically highlighted as attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly, with staff offering helpful recommendations and accommodating special requests, though a few reviews note occasional pacing issues or a slightly brisk pace on busy nights. Several comments call it the best Indian restaurant in Montreal, and many return regularly to try different dishes and dessert like paan kulfi or kulfi variants. A small portion of feedback mentions inconsistent execution or some dishes being overly sweet or not up to standard, but these are less common compared with the glowing consensus. Overall, Rendez-vous Bistro stands out as a gem in Montreal for flavorful, well prepared Indian food, warm hospitality, and a memorable dining experience that keeps guests coming back.
Amazing food. Perfect blends of spices. Unique taste. Gulab Jamun was the best I've had in Montreal. Great service. Calm ambiance. Great presentation. Was my first time but will not be the last!
I don't like restaurants in general, but this was just WOW 🤩, very impresse with the food, service & taste ! You need to go there & try it out, you wont be dissapointed
We went there for our anniversary dinner . The place was good , less crowded & less noise.
The food -
Dahi kebab- 10/10.
Tusli paneer-3/10 - paneer was hard & there was barely any seasoning in it.
Mushroom matar-4/10 --onions undercooked, less mushrooms.
Gulab jamun- was served warm & delicious.
The drinks were okay
The service was quick but the food was a little disappointing -not worth the hype
So the wife & I loveeeee Indian, & we are always looking for places that just do it well but also put there own twist on things to elevate it. Here at @rendezvous_indian_bistro I'd have to say it's probably going into my top 3 favourite Indian places in Montreal right now. Its just so different & so much more flavourful then anything I've had in a while, & at the same time sticking to the roots of what make Indian food so delicious.
Like most Indian menus it's quick extensive what they have in terms of choice but if you feel overwhelmed, just ask them for recommendations like we did my buddy & I when we went & they really understood the assignment.
We first got served with the Veg Manchurian which were a light a fried Veg Ball coated in this nice, sweet & tangy sauce. Really delicious first bite. Followed by the Chana Papdi Chaat. Kinda like a deconstructed samosa of sorts as it has almost all the same fillings. But with even more texture with the crunchy toppings. It's always been one of my favorite apps to order when going out for Indian.
Now, I always like to try different stuff then the butter chickens, lamb vindaloos or tikka masala because Indian cuisine is so much more extensive then that. Se we went with a couple of there recommendations.
Murgg Mathi Malai is a Chicken Cashew Cream sauce dish & it's so rich. Similar to a butter chicken but imo a little more depths & complexity behind it. Really a stand alone choice.
Next something I normally wouldn't have gone out of my way for but I'm glad I did, the Bhutta Methi Palek, a vegetarian option filled with sweet corn in a fenegreek & spinach like gravy as they call it. Surprisingly fresh tasting even tho its cooked. Really hardy & full of flavour, I'd go back for this for sure.
Last but not least the 2 standouts of the day, the Dum Chicken Biryani which was freaking amazing. The chicken was so juicy, & the portion size for what you get is insane. You get a little of everything in each & every bite, my favourite biryani I think I've ever had. & then we have the Ragasthani Laal Maas, lamb pieces in a rich & fiery chili gravy with aromatic spices. This plate transcended me!
The spicy cocktail I got was one of my favourite cocktails ever, sweet & spicy & tasted delicious!! The paneer appetizer we got was 100% my favourite, the flavours were so amazing I would come back just for that! The naan & paneer dishes we got were also super good, the white one was a bit sweet for what I'd typically like but I think it's normal for that dish & I wanted to try something different. Will definitely come again, great for vegetarians!
I am very perplexed about this one considering the 4.8 stars as of writing this review.
We reserved for 2 in advance. Busy Tuesday evening, it took over 1h to have our food with no clear communication or follow up.
We tried 2 NON-spicy bowls to pair with their spicy turbo naan. The waiter had warned the naan would be spicy, we said we don't mind spicy & to make it as spicy as a local would authentically take. We obviously never asked for the bowls to be made spicy, & certainly didn't expect that the bowls would turn EXTRA spicy, to the extent we couldn't taste anything else (please see the ridiculous pepper picture).
Upon receiving our food, the staff never came back before billing time, therefore we had no chance to discuss this. No excuse, no solution, just a spicy mess overwhelming all other tastes. It's like they purposely avoided us from this point on. The experience was horrible, spicy beyond comprehension.
The billing itself was rude. They cancelled the payment as I was paying, stepped away, came back 5 min later because a previous client had been overcharged they were adjusting their billing system by subtracting something like 40 cents off our bill. Weird stuff, shouldn't be our problem to partake in, & it made us feel like they were about to assume some responsibility for the off experience, only for this to be about themselves. Super selfish.
All in all? Displeasing & weird customer service experience, no adjustment or feedback possible, a very long wait, pricy dishes, & a dish so spicy no human on earth would enjoy the experience.
I can't understand the hype & I certainly don't recommend. STAY AWAY, there are much better Indian restaurants out there.
Amazing food & great service! We ordered the Tulsi Paneer Tikka, Dahi ke kebab, Paneer Lababdar, & Dal Makhani. Everything was cooked to perfection, especially the Garlic Naan. If you're looking for authentic Indian flavors, this is the place to go!
