Overall, Rendez-vous Bistro earns high marks for authentic Indian flavors, generous portions, and attentive service, with many reviewers calling it a standout in Montreal and praising bold spices, rich gravies, and polished presentations. The menu offers a wide range from paneer and dal to Rajasthani specialties and thalis, with numerous mentions of dishes like Laal Maas, Dahi kebab, Paneer Kolhapuri, and Murgh methi malai as standout picks; the thali is repeatedly described as hearty and satisfying. The atmosphere is described as cozy and inviting, balancing an upscale feel with welcoming hospitality, though a few reviews note moments of pacing confusion or a slightly cooler dining room. Value is a common thread, as portions are typically generous and prices reasonable for the quality, with many travelers and locals declaring it a go to for authentic flavors that feel true to their roots while offering creative twists. Overall, it is described as a warm, dependable spot worth returning to for more explorations of the menu.
I want to begin with food & cocktails. Hans serves up great cocktails, on their menu & others. The beet salad is off the charts! The endive leaf cradling gorgeous golden chunks of beet, with the perfect coating of labneh & herbs. The patates frites. Words really can't do them justice & if someone finds them, please share. These roasted spuds deliver flavour upon flavour.
Unfortunately, the rest of our meal was graciously made to go. But if the starters & service are any indication, one word, amazing. Anyone with a parent suffering from Alzheimer's may relate. Suffice it to say, things went horribly wrong with my Mom this evening. I would like to apologize on behalf of my mom to Hans, the staff of Rendezvous & their diners, & then thank you so much for your graciousness. This was the first episode of this kind & magnitude I have had with her & I really have no words.
I'm sure you all enjoyed what was no doubt a fabulous dinner, I can't wait for take 2.
Thank you Rendezvous
I had a great experience at restaurant. The food was fresh & tasty, & the service was fast. The food was also delicious. The staff was friendly & the restaurant was clean. I will definitely come back again.
Amazing food. Perfect blends of spices. Unique taste. Gulab Jamun was the best I've had in Montreal. Great service. Calm ambiance. Great presentation. Was my first time but will not be the last!
I don't like restaurants in general, but this was just WOW 🤩, very impresse with the food, service & taste ! You need to go there & try it out, you wont be dissapointed
We went there for our anniversary dinner . The place was good , less crowded & less noise.
The food -
Dahi kebab- 10/10.
Tusli paneer-3/10 - paneer was hard & there was barely any seasoning in it.
Mushroom matar-4/10 --onions undercooked, less mushrooms.
Gulab jamun- was served warm & delicious.
The drinks were okay
The service was quick but the food was a little disappointing -not worth the hype
So the wife & I loveeeee Indian, & we are always looking for places that just do it well but also put there own twist on things to elevate it. Here at @rendezvous_indian_bistro I'd have to say it's probably going into my top 3 favourite Indian places in Montreal right now. Its just so different & so much more flavourful then anything I've had in a while, & at the same time sticking to the roots of what make Indian food so delicious.
Like most Indian menus it's quick extensive what they have in terms of choice but if you feel overwhelmed, just ask them for recommendations like we did my buddy & I when we went & they really understood the assignment.
We first got served with the Veg Manchurian which were a light a fried Veg Ball coated in this nice, sweet & tangy sauce. Really delicious first bite. Followed by the Chana Papdi Chaat. Kinda like a deconstructed samosa of sorts as it has almost all the same fillings. But with even more texture with the crunchy toppings. It's always been one of my favorite apps to order when going out for Indian.
Now, I always like to try different stuff then the butter chickens, lamb vindaloos or tikka masala because Indian cuisine is so much more extensive then that. Se we went with a couple of there recommendations.
Murgg Mathi Malai is a Chicken Cashew Cream sauce dish & it's so rich. Similar to a butter chicken but imo a little more depths & complexity behind it. Really a stand alone choice.
Next something I normally wouldn't have gone out of my way for but I'm glad I did, the Bhutta Methi Palek, a vegetarian option filled with sweet corn in a fenegreek & spinach like gravy as they call it. Surprisingly fresh tasting even tho its cooked. Really hardy & full of flavour, I'd go back for this for sure.
Last but not least the 2 standouts of the day, the Dum Chicken Biryani which was freaking amazing. The chicken was so juicy, & the portion size for what you get is insane. You get a little of everything in each & every bite, my favourite biryani I think I've ever had. & then we have the Ragasthani Laal Maas, lamb pieces in a rich & fiery chili gravy with aromatic spices. This plate transcended me!
