About

Ramen Nakamichi serves authentic Japanese noodle dishes focusing on depth and technical precision in broth preparation. Each bowl features perfectly cooked ramen noodles complemented by carefully marinated proteins and fresh, crisp toppings that provide textural contrast. The broth serves as the foundation, simmered for extended periods to extract maximum flavor and achieve a rich, opaque consistency that coats the palate. Ingredients are sourced to ensure high quality while respecting traditional preparation methods found in various Japanese regions. The minimalist interior design keeps the focus entirely on the bowl, fostering a streamlined and efficient culinary environment. Patrons encounter a specialized menu that highlights the mastery of noodle craft through precise temperature control and flavor balance across both clear and creamy soup varieties.

Review Summary

Ramen Nakamichi receives polarizing feedback from patrons, with many praising it as an authentic, high-quality spot that captures the essence of Japanese dining in Montreal. Supporters frequently highlight the delicious, flavorful broths and the appealing, cozy atmosphere, often noting that it ranks among the best ramen experiences they have had outside of Japan. Conversely, some diners express frustration with inconsistencies, citing issues such as lukewarm broth, peculiar topping choices like raw red onions and arugula, and varying levels of service efficiency. While some appreciate the generous portions and unique, artistic touches, others feel disappointed by the meat-to-rice ratios in side dishes or find certain flavor profiles underwhelming. Ultimately, the restaurant remains a popular choice for many seeking traditional ramen, despite mixed experiences regarding food temperature and specific ingredient preferences.

Never had a overcooked ramen egg in my life but apparently that's normal here. Soup & noodles were good tho

Very good service. The waitress was very patient with us. I took a noodle soup, & I must admit I really enjoyed those fat noodles made onsite.

I ordered the rouge premium, & it's amazing! Very thick & umami pork bone soup, paired with huge portions of chasiu, & a coddled egg. Highly recommend this place.

I love soup noodles. So it's not surprising that I would fallen for this ramen-ya that we chanced upon wandering around Mile End of Montreal - a far flung Mile End that I'm used to in London, UK. This modern clean lines decor looked more like a Japanese tea shop from the outside. It is summer & they have advertised cold ramen on a placard outside. Once inside, I saw the big poster for the Tokyo style (chicken soup) ramen. A bit of disclaimer, I had already had a Canadian omelette (with chilli) & some poutine classique from two well known establishments in Montreal this morning - & this shop has just opened at 11.30 am with a queue of eager eaters. I thought we have to give it a go - even if it is just a snack. The summer cold noodle was refreshing. The slightly citrus taste lifts the pickled veg. I liked it, but the main event is another level. The chicken broth & the ramen were delicious. The noodles had the right level of chewiness. They were soft & smooth. I know it's not right in the western culture to slurp - but these were made for slurping. & as a lover of Japanese food - I felt obliged to do them justice - for the benefit & respect of the chef! Try them & you will be delighted!

soup is not hot

I really wished I could give 5 stars. It's my first eating Tsuke-Men in Montreal & the flavour was actually pretty good. However, to make the noodle chewy, I believe they washed/rinsed with (very) cold water, so even the broth was hot at first, the noodle/broth became room temperature after few dips. I am a hot soup believer & this made my experience less enjoyable. If you are a person like me, probably order ramen instead might be a better idea.

A ramen. A tester, à re tester & à re tester (boucle infinie)
