Ramen Misoya Montreal Restaurant: Menu, Reviews & Reserve (2026)
RamenJapaneseAsianVegetarianSoups

Where ramen and miso meets
Ever since Japan’s Edo period (1600 to 1867 AC), Miso has been known as a healthy and tasty
condiment and has been beloved for generations.

Miso is made with soybeans, rice (or barley in some cases) and salt by being fermented for a certain
period of time. It originated in China, spread to Japan in the 9th century and became known as Miso paste. In the long history of Japan, Miso has been a sufficient protein source, to enhance rice, soup or as a sauce over vegetable side dishes.

As a fermented food, miso is a great source of probiotics or beneficial bacteria, which increases the
health of your gut and enhances your immune system. Miso is also high in protein, in minerals like
manganese and zinc, and vitamin E, vitamin K, various B vitamins, and folic acid.

Review Summary

Reviews describe Ramen Misoya as a cozy basement ramen spot in Montreal offering a range of miso ramen and generous toppings at a reasonable price. The broth is frequently praised for depth and flavor, with favorites like Gold Kome and Shiro Chashu noted, and diners appreciate the option to add extra broth or toppings. Noodle quality and toppings are variable; some bowls feature excellent chashu, while others show fatty edges or misfires like burnt chashu. Service ranges from fast and friendly to slow or understaffed, with long wait times reported at busy times. The atmosphere is cozy and anime on screen adds to the vibe, though the basement setting and occasional cleanliness or visibility concerns are mentioned. A few reviews mention delivery issues and refund mixups, though responses indicate some remediation. Overall, many see Ramen Misoya as a strong, comforting ramen destination and value for money, with high praise for flavor and several caveats about consistency and service.

Gave me burnt to crisp chashu's i got extra chashu, left everything couldn't eat it. Sucks that they visibly see it being bad to eat & still serve it to the clients. Service was great, lady was nice. Chef you can do better. Better to lose money than to poison your clients.

Was looking to have a quick dinner by myself & so went here but after almost 1h I still haven't gotten my food! Having introduced the self ordering system, the service at table is simply inexistant & the only waitress serving, inexperienced, didn't help make it better. Tried a silver ramen & the broth was ok but the chasu was not what it looks like in pictures!

So disappointed in my experience today. I've been coming to this place for years but started coming less because the food was less qualitative than it used to be. I decided to give it another chance today.

It took more than 1 hour for me to get my bowl of ramen. In the past, I've never waited more than 20 minutes, even when the place was full. I ordered extra fries (4pcs) with my bowl. After more than an hour, the server brought the bowl with 2 pcs & says they will bring the rest soon, which then arrived at the end of my bowl. How is it so difficult to fry 4 fries? Tofu was also missing on my bowl but the wait was so long that i didn't want to ask & wait more. The ramen was good, broth was flavorful but not spicy for tantanmen. Not good enough for such a long wait tho.

The server was very kind, was tryng her best & i could see that she was embarassed of the situation.

Sadly, i think it was my last time there!

I've come here many times, the food is amazing & the service great & fast.

It is to note that a couple of times the food was too salty & the Cha-shu is often just fat (that might be the whole point though but just not my preference). I mostly always order the Gold kome Special which is my favorite. They offer to water it down a little with extra broth if it's too savory which is very appreciated in those rare moments.

The food there is very much worth it overall. The restaurant is small, cozy, the food is comforting. Will definetly remain a regular there.

I came here by myself & it was really enjoyable. Quiet & surprisingly small but it had a really nice atmosphere. The waiter was really kind at helping me choose what I should try. The Gold Kome Chashu Deluxe is a good start if you're trying out ramen for the first time. It came quickly & I had a great first experience. This place truly gave me a new interest in ramen.

Ramen Misoya is a cozy basement spot that delivers flavorful ramen at a more affordable price point than many others in the city. Portions are generous, especially the amount of chashu you get for the price.

Here's what I tried:
* Shiro Chashu Ramen - 9/10 Flavorful broth, nicely charred chashu, & a good variety of toppings.
* Gold Miso Ramen - 7.5/10 Rich & hearty broth, though some toppings were unexpected (like a fried potato wedge).
* Takoyaki - 8.5/10 Tasty, a good choice while waiting.

The staff is friendly, & the open kitchen adds a nice touch. The place is warm & inviting, but since it's located in a basement, it might be a little tricky to spot. It can get busy during lunch, & service can be a bit slow but the food is worth the wait.

Recommended, & I'll be back!

Been going to this place for the last 4 years it's been the best since day one. Also!! The broth doesn't need to be changed, it's prefect the way it is ! (05/09/2025)

Tasty broth & good texture of the noodles, but the cha-siu slice is thin & small, the egg was not perfect, & the price for these extra aren't worth it. Maybe best for vegetarian dishes. Took a while to receive the bowl as well, perhaps understaff.

my favourite tantan ramen ever. came back years later & it's still the same. better than the other chains in toronto for sure. both the regular & veggie tantan are the go-to's for me & my friends. also add tofu!! we also love their karaage. the sauce is super tasty.

Food was great! Atmosphere was cozy. Service was fine throughout. However, DONT PAY CASH. My soup was 13.50, I gave 20 dollar bill & the waitress didn't offer any change :(

Pretty cozy intimate spot, the ramen & broth are delicious, great for a gathering of 6 people max I'd say or an intimate date. I've been going since 2016 & it's still my favorite ramen spot in mtl if you have a chance you should try it especially if you go to concordia or dawson which is pretty close by.

Best ramen in MTL! Generous portions at a fair price. I suggest trying the Gold Kome Chasu. (I took the spicy version) It doesn't come with eggs, but you can add any extras you desire. 5 stars ⭐️😉

Ordered the recommended dish Cha-Su with Gold Broth. Gold broth is supposed to be rich in flavour, but I personally found it was very overpowering with ginger flavour. Ordered the miso egg which was great, but the kimchi was also overpowering with ginger flavour. Noodles were ok. Not sure why there were potatoes (maybe a MTL thing) & sadly not a green onion in sight. Cha su was very delicious though. Not a fan of bean sprouts in my ramen. Great service & nice atmosphere.

The food has always been amazing, but this time the girl was amazing. I was traveling & I didn't have any charge on my phone & she lent me her charged & let me stay till it was charged. She was very sweet & understanding.

First time here, really like their menu that actually shows you images of the foods rather than descriptions. However, the price/quantity ratio isn't that good compared to other fancy or classy Japanese restraunt like Kinka & Otto. But they have something unique that the others don't have: actual large chunk of Cha-Shu. Their Cha-Shu is actually one of the best I have ever tasted. I especially loved the Cha-Shu Don. The Cha-Shu was so juicy & delicious on top of a bole of well-done rice! Really enjoyed it. Will come back next time for the Cha-Shu. Other than that, the Ramen & the Karaage we ordered was OK, not impressive overall but not bad either. Cha-Shu was sooooo good though!

If you looking for real Japanese food. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. It’s more like Chinese style Japanese ramen. The Chashu is quite dry. Won’t be here for second time

Tied for best ramen in Montreal for me. Delicious broth, tasty ramen, some kind of tempura tofu & some other non-identifiable but super-delicious toppings floating around. The staff is 100% Japanese & the service is what you would get in Japan. 13$ tax & tip included for lunch. Great! We'll definitely go back & often! (2013)

Wow, how things have changed in 2018. Quality went down & prices went up. 21$ for ok ramen. Not going back.
