Some snacks also. Good coffee. There's usually a lineup but staff work hard to look after you. Some seating but not much. Great place to go after shopping or after a visit to the canal. Some GF selection.
Such delicious pastries & breads. I recommend the pain aux chocolat & croissants aux ammande.
Boulangerie Première Moisson at Marché Atwater is a gourmet stop that blends artisanal craftsmanship with the vibrant atmosphere of one of Montreal's most beloved markets. From the moment you approach the counter, the sight & aroma of fresh-baked breads, buttery pastries, & decadent desserts is irresistible. The display itself is a visual treat - golden baguettes stacked neatly, rustic loaves dusted with flour, delicate croissants with perfectly flaky layers, & colorful tarts & cakes that look as good as they taste.
The quality here is consistently outstanding. Breads have a beautiful crust & tender crumb, pastries are rich & flavorful without being overly sweet, & savory options - from sandwiches to quiches - are prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Whether you're grabbing a quick snack or assembling a picnic with market finds, it's easy to put together something memorable.
Service is friendly & efficient, even during busy hours, & the staff knows the products well, often offering thoughtful suggestions. While prices reflect the artisanal quality, the freshness & flavor make it well worth it.
Première Moisson at Marché Atwater isn't just a bakery - it's an essential stop for anyone who appreciates fine baked goods. For photographers, the colors, textures, & natural light of the market create the perfect backdrop to capture the artistry in every loaf & pastry.
This bakery is in several locations around Montreal. The breads are so good & so many to choose from. It is far more then a bakery a
S they also serve
Breakfast & lunch. Prices are good & it's a great alternative to restaurants & authentic. Always fun & look forward to going especially in the market location
This bakery is a local landmark, absolutely unique it its selection & quality as well as its authentic vibe of French patisserie. The variety of sweet goodies, jams, & bread will have you coming back for more. We first came for bread (sour dough & croissants) & then came back for their Mille feuilles & eclairs. Perhaps next time we will try their new tarts🤤 You do have to make eye contact with the servers & yell out your order before making your way to the cash register. Not sure what the rules are but everyone just makes it work & everyone gets served. 👍
Large bakery inside Marche Atwater, offering bread, French pastries, cakes, coffees, cookies , sandwiches. Everything looked so fresh & yummy. The tartlettes were one of the best I've had in a long time. Friendly staff. Lots of seating area.
Here you can buy fresh bread, ready-to-eat housemade food, cakes, chocolate, etc. I love the variety of fresh, nice bread you can find in this bakery. The baguettes are crunchy & tasty, plus you can get organic or gluten-free ones.
This cafe has become our absolute favorite spot for coffee, croissants, pastries, & bread. Every time we visit, we are blown away by the quality of their freshly baked goods. Their almond croissant, in particular, is hands down one of the best I've ever had in town. The flakiness, the rich almond filling, & the perfect balance of sweetness make it a true standout. Beyond the almond croissant, they offer an impressive variety of baked goods, all made with the same care & attention to detail. From the rich, buttery pastries to the perfectly brewed coffee, everything here is top-notch. If you find yourself in town, do yourself a favor & stop by this cafe. It's a delightful experience that you won't want to miss!
As a Texan visiting Montreal, awesome bakery! Fantastic bread, pastries, croissants & pies. Pecan pie was delicious!
Fabulous sour dough breads. Wonderful pastries. Beautiful desserts. They make this wonderful dark chocolate bread so yummy.
I do not purchase pastries or breads from here often as I try my best to eat natural ,organic, & / or biodynamic foods. However, sometimes I need a quick birthday cake or cup of coffee so this place still provides a very clean set up of pastries, ect, which are beautiful & have the traditional flavor profiles & textures one would expect. A plus is the staff are super professional & friendly even though sometimes they are slammed with customers putting in their orders.
Excellent Bakery Goods. Cakes are delicious. Tarts & pastries are delicious also. The bread selection is great 👍🏻 Service was slow but it is usually good.
The bread & croissants are very good here. There is a lot of variety & usually large selections, depending on the time of day. Where we find is sometimes hit or miss is when we order their premade sandwiches & croque monsieurs. For this reason, it's not our go to yet we have become a custom, too order things that please us.
Good for a 1-time visit when going to the market, not good if you try to be a regular customer. Today, as usual, staff were disorganized & not paying attention to the line. Two women butted in front of me. I thought they were just looking closely at the breads & would move aside when the employee came. No, they started placing their order. I said I was next. They looked shocked that I would dare. The employee stared at me & didn't move, he didn't know who to serve, like it was some kind of moral dilemma. Meanwhile, a second employee at the bread counter was in a drawn-out chat with someone who already paid. She could have come & both orders would have been taken, but ignored it. This kind of situation has happened many, many times at the bread counter, & at the counter for lunch on the other side. It's the first time I speak up. It looks like employees don't know what they're supposed to be doing & some customers take advantage. It's routine that people will butt in line whether the place is full or empty, & staff don't notice or do anything. It's not worth the hassle.
