Tried this restaurant on a Sunday & it was pretty busy. The service was good, but our waiter didn't have a full understanding of the menu, especially when it came to vegan options.
We ordered the fattoush salad, the vegan version of the avocado toast, a smoked meat sandwich, fingerling potatoes on the side, & two freshly pressed orange & grapefruit drinks. The drinks were refreshing & the food was good. The fattoush was tasty, but not as good as the ones you'd get in an Arabic restaurant.
The place looks nice almost like a jungle inside. I would go back.
the atmosphere is super nice at pigeon, i loved all the greenery & lights & the whole vibe was just great.
the richard lewis sandwich is so stacked with so much meat, it is totally a carnivores dream ! some bits of meat were a bit chewier & tough to bite off, so it was kind of hard & messy to eat, but it was yummy! the cheese melted on top also had really nice flavour too, that was super good. i really liked the challah bread, which was soft & toasted & made a bit soggy but the copious amounts of mustard. the mustard was a good balance to all the meat, & i liked how it wasn't too strong or sharp or pungent.
First time going & i went for breakfast. I ordered the salmon&avo toast: expect it to be bigger but it was very tasty. Tuna melt was very good too! Iced vanilla latte was yummy too
It was quite early so it was pretty quiet (10 am) & calm atmosphere. Not sure how loud it usually gets
I'm revising this initially great review, because I just had some of that'cucumber salad' that shows up a lot on the menu. What I was served was essentially a raw onion salad. I can't believe their recipe would call for anything close to that. Also, one single toast with breakfast, really? There are lot of good things about this place but these those two things alone offset them unfortunately.
EDIT: & no way to put 15% tip (only 18% & up…). We need to do the actual math, lol. So yeah, that's another star.
Beautiful spot, decor & vibe was great. Service abit slow. Waiter actually forgot about us & after about 45 minutes realized we didn't have any food & then entered it.
1.5 hours from start to finish.... not great at all unfortunately.
Food was good, toast was cold.
Maybe a off day for them, but I can't see us coming back.
Though the service is friendly, it's also rather forgetful or inattentive…
Our breakfast food was small in portion & quite forgettable for $16 per. The toast was barely toasted, medium poached eggs weren't delivered (one overcooked the other very runny) & there is no bacon on the breakfast menu I guess bc the owners don't eat pork(?) & so guests don't either(?). Coffee was weak too, unfortunately.
I'd been here before a few years ago & it was better. Not sure what's happened since…
The food was delicious with so many fun options! We loved the avocado toast.
Coffee is good but this location is not it.... service was not good. The waitress never came to see us after we receved the food & she barely smilled. I ordered the two eggs plate & asked for sunny side up (did not get sunny side up) mistakes happen no big deel but couldnt find our waitress so asked someone else to exchange my eggs. Its not the first time i eat at Pigeon Café but selling 2 eggs plate with half an avocado, 1 tiny toast & a mini side of cucumber salad (which was hot...) for 15$ is crazy. At the one in Cote Vertu area, plate was full & had enough for my money (served with patatos, bread, eggs & had a choice of meat + waitress gave us peanut butter/jam). But Mcgill Pigeon is not the place to go... the food is not bad & the ambiance is really nice but they need to review their dishes/plate cause for the price its not generous like others Pigeon Café :/ For just a coffe on the go it okay.
The food is pretty good, I had the French toast casserole with ice cream & it was like a 7/10 only cause the melted ice cream ruins the whole dish afterwards... I loved the coffee, pastries & the ambience there. The staff tho is amazing always 10/10 service 🤩🤩
Bad service. Good food (my plate) I took the smoke salmon toast & it was really good!!! But I cannot say the same about the plates of my friends. Also I asked for a Hot Chai Latte & it was everything but hot. The waitress was rude with us, the service wasn't good at all🫠🫠😮💨😮💨 No one check on you, to see if you everything is okay...
I had brunch here, & the outdoor seating area in July is incredible. The menu offers great options for those looking to eat healthily. The food tasted clean & fresh. I got a Mediterranean toast which was my favorite, super light, the beet hummus toast was well. Did not have coffee here's just an expresso so I can not judge that.
Service was awesome & everyone is super nice. Food is above average. Started out with cappuccino & ended with Mediterranean toast. It was healthy but not as much flavor.
This is a cute little coffee shop in the nook of downtown. Coffee is pretty decent but the to go lids suck! I had the smoke salmon lox box. Very tasty, my wife had the med toast. Also tasty. Great service, fun vibe. Would come again.
Shakshuka & french toast casserole, that's it. Amazing, & will go back for those & others! Great food with good portion, great service, cute decor, loved everything.
We asked what their recommendations are & were told their lox dishes are what they are known for, but also their Mediterranean toast is really good. & so we proceeded to order their recommendations, plus a mimosa & an iced espresso drink. & I'm so glad we did! The Mediterranean toast was an explosion of texture & flavours with their avocado spread, goat cheese, greens, chickpeas, radish & more! The smoked salmon toast with a poached egg was also delish, although the egg was a bit overcooked. The mimosa was made with freshly squeezed orange juice (at least I think it is). The interior is cute, very tropical with trees inside. I give Pigeon Cafe a thumbs up & it will be on rotation when in Montreal!
I love breakfasts here! Their shakshuka & Meditaranian Toasts are delish, & the staff is kind, efficient & attentive!
Great location, near metro, welcoming atmosphere, nice vibe & great service. Our server, Alycia, was attentive, friendly, & professional. Enjoyed my avocado toast dish with a mocha cafe.. yum! Would recommend.
Big thanks to the manager Lee Orland for ensuring a seamless business breakfast for my Director General & a guest. My executive is a vegetarian & caffeine free, fortunately the variety on the menu for food & drink alternatives were plentiful, & most importantly delicious! Positive reviews on the avocado toast & freshly squeezed orange juice! Great service as well given an early reservation of 8am. Very modern space too, & great location, walking distance to our office. Would recommend!
super nice cafe! please, with me as your sacrifice, dont ever get the french toast casserole. The staff were super nice, music was good, vibes were great. Admittedly I had no idea what a casserole tastes like but i didn't know it meant eating soggy bread & egg for 19$. This is like a 5 year old's first attempt at french toast. I could fry you a soggy french toast for fre. I WOULD feed this to my worst enemy. No fault of the kitchen everything was cooked, I just didnt know i could drink bread. I'm sure the savoury food options are great, & the food portions are pretty big!
