This was a quaint hidden place (located down a flight of stairs) & was so worth the visit. Their banh xeo was delicious & they were very generous with their veggies & herbs. Would definitely come back to try their other dishes.View more
YOU NEED TO GO HERE IF YOU ARE VISITING MONTREAL CHINATOWN!!! We got the bahn xeo (which ive been looking for everywhere in queens ny to no avail) & it was super thin & crispy. It wasnt soggy like the ones i tried making at home & they even add thin pieces of chicken within the crispy skin & you wouldnt have known it was there unless you looked carefully which was interesting. We also got the chao tom which is sugarcane wrapped with shrimp paste & all of it is grilled to perfection. Alongside both of these dishes were an extra generous amount of lettuce to wrap the bahn xeo or chao tom, herbs, mint, cucumber, carrot, peanut sauce & rice paper to make wraps with the chao tom. I absolutely loved chewing on the sugarcane after I finished eating the shrimp paste. I had to practically beg my family to eat here instead of My Canh across the street because I knew that even though this place was basically in a basement, the food here would be bomb & I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. the waitress is rlly cute too & the other waiter is very nice & can help you with any questions.View more
Our group came on a Friday lunch hour & it was quite easy to get seats. Upon looking at the menu, we knew the dishes were going to be quite traditional which we love. We ordered the Banh Xeo which was crispy & light. A few of us ordered the Bun Bo Hue, which had great flavor & a light spice. I did not come with the congealed blood but we requested it & he gave it to us to us on the house. We also ordered the Pho & we really enjoyed the soup. It was very spice forward in Star Anise, Clove & etc which we really enjoyed. The service was also amazing & very accommodating. Definitely a great alternative to two other popular Vietnamese restaurants down the block.View more
Very authentic Vietnamese restaurant with many different noodle soups & dishes! The servers speak Cantonese, Vietnamese, English & French, & they are very quick & attentive. The restaurant is located in a basement, & though it's not a fancy interior, the tables are very clean & set up with the classic hoisin & siracha, plus a second very spicy sauce. Complimentary tea is served once seated. I've been several times, & definitely recommend coming. The pho is well balanced & savoury, the bun bo hue is spicy & has a pleasant funky flavour from shrimp paste. The noodle soups are served with the proper accompaniments (ex. cabbage for bun bo hue). I also really enjoyed the banh canh cua & the tapioca noodles they used were the perfect texture. The banh xeo is light & crispy & the fish sauce they serve with it is saltier, which I much prefer over the overly diluted & sweet fish sauce elsewhere. Everything is balanced, flavourful & very well-priced for the portions.View more
