The food was good but not great - not as fresh as other Pho places in the area. However, the atmosphere was certainly better (more cozy) than most pho places in the city altogether. The service was very friendly & efficient enough to squeeze a meal over a lunch break.
Overall, I would visit again with a group due to the atmosphere & menu variety, but if I was alone or looking only for Pho, it would not be my first choice in the area. I expected better since it is somewhat more pricey than places with better pho.
Very sincere & polite attitude with a professional resolution after a few mistakes. I really appreciate your courtesy. The taste is great, & the rare beef is amazingly fresh!
Listen this isn't your'cheap eats' pho, sure its a higher price than average for pho but they are consistent & always good (a surprisingly hard task to achieve in Montreal!). I personally think the price is fair (it's downtown, so rent is likely up there) + everything is fresh.
Will always return & always enjoy :)
The ph? was disappointing, noodles clumped together like paste, & even the meat came in a rubbery lump. Nothing about it felt fresh or properly prepared.
The food is incredibly fresh & delicious, & the pho broth is rich & full of flavor!
A decent place for their appetizers, however the pho could've been better. In all honesty, I find it pretty tricky to find a great pho spot in Montreal (compared to Toronto) - so if I were to compare them to the rest of the city, they are good. The fresh spring rolls & bbq apps are great - worth it. The pho, nothing to die for, the broth could use more flavour. If you're in the area & craving some Pho, not a bad place.
Loveeeeeeee it!! Delicious pho with rich broth & fresh toppings. Authentic taste & great service. Highly recommend!
Ordered takeout & came fresh & hot with full flavour expected with pho!
Went here on our last night in Montreal & one of best meals we had. Food was very fresh. Had both types of rolls for apps, the jasmine rice with steak & a pho bowl (broth on side) devoured it all. Also had the hot coffee & we're hooked. So tasty. If I lived here, I'd be a regular. Service a bit slow but they were very friendly & we kinda wanted to relax. Atmosphere of the restaurant was super cozy too & clean.
Beautiful decor including a cherry blossom tree inside.. beautiful wood tables.. attentive waitstaff. One of the few places that will actually use basil garnish & give you raw beef slices, lime is fresh. Feel like all the foodstuff they use is good quality. Food is decent. I haven't yet found a perfect pho place in Montreal. (Speaking as a Vancouverite)
To preface this review, I went at a non-busy time in a group of 2. We had many issues with the service & food: 1. Ordered a rare beef pho & a rare beef & well done beef pho. Received a well done beef pho & a rare beef & well done beef pho. 2. They served the pho lukewarm! The rare meat didn't cook in the slightest!!!!!!! After asking to reheat the pho, they returned it THE SAME TEMPERATURE. 3. I requested fresh chilis from the staff 3 times throughout the meal & never received any. 4. Very minimal sauce included. They give tiny portions of sriracha/hoisin so you have to keep asking. It would be way better to have the bottles at the table like other authentic Vietnamese establishments. 5. Personal opinion - the pho broth was too sweet, missing some acidity. 6. Don't sit anywhere near the door in cold weather, they leave the outer door open sometimes so when the inner door is opened you'll be frozen. On the bright side, they have friendly staff & a great atmosphere (upstairs is super cool too).
The service & food excellent so fresh. Thank you again. I hate the Byov half beef & half shrimps. & Chà Giò.
We just had their pho & it was really good the broth was clear but flavorful & the beef was tender the noodles were cooked well & the fresh herbs added a nice touch we also had their fresh spring rolls which were light & tasty we tried the mango smoothie (100% you must try) & you can actually taste the real mango it wasn't too sweet just refreshing overall a solid meal & we'd come back again
Phở Lý Quốc Sư offers authentic Vietnamese flavors with standout phở & bánh mì. The phở features a rich, aromatic broth simmered for hours, with tender beef & fresh, springy noodles. A side of herbs, lime, & chili adds brightness & spice. The bánh mì is equally impressive, with a crispy, yet soft baguette filled with well-seasoned meats, pickled vegetables, fresh cilantro, & a hint of pâté & mayo for extra richness. Both dishes reflect traditional flavors & high-quality ingredients, making Phở Lý Quốc Sư a must-visit for Vietnamese food enthusiasts.
I had low expectations coming in. Fewer options than a classic Vietnamese pho resto. Iced espresso was served blended instead of separate condensed milk & espresso. Small amount of fresh basil & sprouts with pho. However the broth was fairly fragrant & was served hot.
Love this place. Fresh approach to Pho. Met the owner, very friendly. Great atmosphere, love the food, if you love Pho, you need to eat here!
Honestly the best pho i've ever had & one of the best meals I've ever had. The broth was so delicious & the veggies were fresh & crunchy which I love. Me & my friend have tried the following: Vegetarian imperial rolls (please note it comes with 2, not 3 like said in the description): absolutely delicious fresh, comes with a delicious sauce Vegetarian Pho: my friend said it was delicious! She loved the fried tofu. Well done beef Pho: broth was crazy good, the beef was delicious & tender (but the meat was very fatty, which might be the norm for this dish but i personally don't like fatty meat) Grilled chicken Pho: same delicious broth, the chicken was amazing & the veggies were fresh. This dish was so amazing & I will be coming back many times for it! The only downside was the service. We were only about 4 people in the restaurant & yet the waiter took forever to get us the bill & never came to check up on us. It could've been better but the food it so worth it that it doesn't matter. The food came out quick aswell! All in all, I will be returning very often - this might be one of my favourite restaurants!!!
It was Santa Claus parade on Saturday & the streets were packed with people everywhere in downtown Montreal. Pho Ly Quac Su just opened its doors just after noon time & we were the first few that got in. Already all the seats on the ground floor were taken. Luckily, there were lots of empty seating places on the first floor. The restaurant is reasonably clean & tidy. We ordered a BYOP - Build your own pho with rare beef & BYOV - Build your own vermicelli with grilled shrimps. Service was friendly & fast with the dishes of good size portion. Taste of the pho was at par with other pho restaurants we have been. It could have been hotter. The vermicelli came on a bed of iceberg lettuce & all fresh. The shrimps were grilled to perfection with a nice smoked flavour. Prices are reasonable, portions are good & taste is excellent.
You are paying more for the decor & ambiance here than the quality in their dishes.
The "Build your own Pho" is a gimmick. Nothing different than ordering a specific bowl option from any other Pho resto. There are only 3 meat options which you can only choose 1 type, 1 size bowl, & the "special" is just your choice of any of the 3 meats.
The meat quality was great & fresh.
I wished they mentioned which kind of sauce was to accompany the spring rolls. Had fish sauce instead of the usual peanut sauce. (Which was received a few minutes after the bowl of Pho instead of before; supposed to be an entree)
