Pho Ly Quoc Su draws mixed but mostly positive feedback: many praise a rich, flavorful broth and well prepared pho, along with other dishes like vermicelli and spring rolls, and the cozy, pleasant atmosphere that suits groups or a casual meal; some bowls and broths have been criticized for blandness or being lukewarm, with noodles that clump or overcook, and the service ranges from attentive and friendly to occasional lapses; prices are noted as fair for downtown by some, though a few consider it pricey; overall Pho Ly Quoc Su remains a solid Vietnamese option in Montreal with a few opportunities for refinement.
The ambiance is quite nice & the food is genuinely good - it's clear they've put real effort into the menu & the kitchen. Which makes the lackluster service all the more surprising & disappointing.
I saw my waitress twice during the entire meal: once when she took my order, & once when I had to walk up to the counter to flag her down & ask for the bill. The actual food was dropped off by another staffer.
There were no water refills. No stopping by to check on the meal. She appeared far more interested in her phone than in the customers she was serving.
To the manager: I'd strongly encourage you to implement a no-phones policy for front-of-house staff. Watching your server scroll through their phones while they provide the bare minimum of service creates a genuinely negative atmosphere - & it undercuts what is otherwise a solid dining experience.
Impressed by the food but won't be coming back.

I went with a group of friends & settled with this place because they could accommodate a group of 12. The atmosphere was very pleasant & they had a cosy decor.
Unfortunately, the pho was very bland. The soup felt like it was diluted & was lukewarm. The noodles were in a clump & were overcooked. The meat was chewy & sparingly given. Overall, it's probably the worst pho I've ever had. Most of my friends also agreed the pho was bland compared to other small pho businesses. At least, the spring rolls were delicious. I really hope they improve their pho recipe...

not bad! Service could've been better, we ran out of water mid meal & then they were confused when we went to get water ourselves as they didn't check on us whatsoever during the meal. Also server didn't ask about the meal or if everything was alright so not a big deal I guess but overall but if a cold experience with service. Food itself was fine & a good portion for 18$

Bro this place is actually wild & not in a good way. Food was mid already but whatever… then outta nowhere a cockroach literally pulled up on our table like he had a reservation 💀 not on the floor… ON THE TABLE while we were sitting there.
Completely killed the whole vibe & honestly made me question how clean this place even is. If roaches are comfortable chilling where people eat, I don't even wanna know what the kitchen looks like.
Only reason I didn't go full Karen mode & make a huge scene is because the girl I was with has anxiety & I didn't wanna make her uncomfortable. Otherwise trust me this would've gone very differently.
Never coming back & I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are way better Vietnamese spots that don't come with surprise insect guests.
The broth is extremely bland & is definitely not real ph?. I've been to Pho Ly Quoc Su in Vietnam & expected something similar, but this tasted like a poor imitation.
The noodles were unusually short, making them awkward & frustrating to eat with chopsticks.
Overall, this was a major letdown & not worth the money at all.
