About

Pho Ly Quoc Su specializes in authentic Northern-style Vietnamese cuisine defined by clear, aromatic broths and fresh ingredients. The menu centers on traditional pho variations, featuring tender slices of beef and artisanal rice noodles prepared according to established culinary standards. Guests encounter a straightforward dining space focused on the functionality and speed inherent to classic noodle houses. Crisp bean sprouts, fragrant basil, and sharp chili condiments accompany each bowl to balance the savory depth of the seasoned stocks. The kitchen maintains consistency by prioritizing traditional preparation methods that honor the origins of the broth base. Every serving emphasizes the harmony between delicate herbs and hearty proteins characteristic of this specific regional cooking style. This establishment provides a dedicated focus on essential Vietnamese staples served in an efficient, focused environment for all visitors.

Review Summary

Pho Ly Quoc Su offers a polarizing experience where many diners praise the authentic, flavorful broth and generous portions, highlighting the restaurant as a standout location for high-quality Vietnamese cuisine in downtown Montreal. While many guests enjoy the warm, inviting decor and the professional, friendly service provided by staff, others express disappointment, noting inconsistencies in the depth of the soup's flavor, occasional service lapses, and concerns regarding price points. Despite mixed feedback on authenticity and seasoning, the restaurant remains a popular choice for its cozy atmosphere, varied menu, and pleasant outdoor patio, drawing both locals and tourists looking for a reliable meal in the city center.

The owners are two very nice people & they accommodated my requests to make some dishes vegetarian.

We ordered the special pho & the hu tieu kho with everything. I am very picky about Pho. This one has the same taste as the ones I ate in Hanoi. Real northern taste. The broth was flavourful & there was lots of meat. My partner ordered the hu tieu kho. It tastes good. This is a great find. We'll come back for the pho again. The owner told me we could order Quay (fried dough stick) - not on the menu to eat with pho next time. I wish I had known it sooner as it would add to the pho. Eating like people in Hanoi.

It's ok pho. Broth was OK. It didn't have that Kapow that hooks you. Noodles were the flat wide ones... Not my particular favorite. Rare beef pho was $18. There was no choice of sizes & I thought it was on the medium to small size where the price would've normally warranted, a gigantic bowl. All in all, not bad, but not a knockout. Staff were nice, food came quick, interior was quite nice.
