Review Summary

Reviews paint Petros as a warm, family friendly Greek spot where the food is fresh and savory and the portions are generous, with service that is attentive and friendly, often described as a highlight of the night. The atmosphere feels authentic and welcoming, suitable for celebrations and groups, though it can be a bit noisy with children and lively conversations. A notable strength is accommodating special dietary needs, including shellfish allergies, with care taken to avoid cross contamination, and the BYOB policy is a popular perk since there is no wine license. Dishes such as seafood, lamb, octopus, and zucchini are frequently praised, while a few critiques note small portions for the price and occasional bone in fish, with room for improvement like greener vegetables alongside the rice and potatoes. Overall, diners repeatedly say it’s worth returning for reliable quality, consistent freshness, and a hospitable experience, with many calling it a favorite for family outings and celebrations.

We were recently there with 10 people. Service was outstanding- friendly & efficient. I would just say that it would be nice to have some green vegetables rather than a corn cob to go along with the rice & potatoes. Other than that the beet salad, cod & sea bass all superb.

I can see why this place is a family favorite.

Good, high-quality & fresh ingredients. Not every dish was a home run for me but all around a great dining experience. I highly recommend the grilled octopus, the fried zucchini, the lamb, & the calamari. Unfortunately I would say skip the Greek salad. It was 95% tomatoes & the tomatoes were not good. Also, you can skip the steak.

I am a local & have been going to Petros occasionally for years, the food is consistently good & the service is always friendly & attentive. We ordered for pick up this New Years Eve, did not have high expectations considering how busy it would be. We ordered lamb chops, octopus, Greek salad & the mushrooms. The food was perfectly cooked, hot & delicious! Best take away ! Actually best meal ! Thanks Petros Westmount! Did not disappoint!

Without question, the BEST Greek food I've had in Montreal. We were a group of about 20 for a Baptism celebration. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Anastasios who served as waiter & Maitre-D, & who made us feel as if we were family joining him for a meal. The delicious fresh food began the moment we sat down & didn't stop coming till we were bursting at the seams. First the warm fresh bread loaf with oil & Greek herbs, followed by nice & thick tzatziki (garlic spread), delicious spanikopita (cheese & spinach feuilleté), typical Greek salad with a terrific dressing, the most tender calamari & crisp zucchini chips, both battered & fried to perfection, grilled Greek-recipe chicken breast, salmon filets which melted in your mouth, all with accompaniments such as Greek potato wedges, roasted corn on the cob & fluffy rice. Then there were the desserts - light & spongy vanilla cake, a panoply of festive macaroons & loukoumades (fried dough balls drizzled with honey), all served with traditional Greek espresso. Wow what a feast ! The menu is extensive, the food traditional & exemplary. The serving staff was also impeccable, constantly making sure you were properly taken care of. Whether in a group or with friends & family, you will NOT be disappointed at Petros Taverna Westmount !

I have been here twice since April. Both times have been excellent. I really like that you can order half portions. They are really generous portions though. The half portion of calamari here is like a full portion in some other establishments. The calamari was lightly breaded, hot & crispy. The Greek salad was good, as was the tzatziki. The grilled octopus was the star of the show, tender & nicely charred. The first time I went it was not as good as it was bit undercooked & rubbery. Maybe a bad day in the kitchen? But, this time, perfection. The loup de mer was very tasty, The service was so fast, it almost felt like we were being rushed, but we took our time. The place was packed for a Friday night with groups & private party downstairs. Would definitely go back.

My family & I got some appetizers to share, including the skordalia (a dish that is kind of like mashed potatoes), saganaki (a fried cheese dish that you make by setting cheese on fire), & Greek salad. For the main course, I got the shrimp pasta & then for dessert, I got the baklava. Everything was delicious! Also, our waiter was super nice & had a great sense of humor, & I really like the decor of the restaurant as well!

I was very happy to find a Greek restaurant in the heart of Westmount. The food overall was good. Fried calamari portion was generous, Greek salad had fresh vegetables & authentic feta cheese (quite a challenge to find it in Montreal), shrimps in the main course were big & delicious. However, I was not happy with the sides of the shrimp dish, specifically carrot tasted horrible (as if its expired), potatos & rice on the same plate made no sense at all. The restaurant ambiance is amazing, rustic Greek decor & plates are very well picked. Cheers to the hostess at the entrance, what a lovely girl, so helpful & friendly!

We decided to stick to appetizers & share a bunch. WOW! The best Greek salad I've ever had- delicious zucchini chips & excellent Calamari. I can't wait to visit again for the main course! Thank you, Petros!

Great atmosphere on the ground floor, a bit cramped in the basement. Well done Greek style decor throughout. Waitstaff was very good; friendly, knew the menu & attentive. Some a bit overeager to clear unfinished plates. Front desk host seemed uninterested; just waved me over to our reserved table. Greek salad, roasted vegetables, grilled mushrooms were excellent. Saganaki was average, spanikopita was soggy, fried calamari oily & over battered, grilled swordfish was overdone & dry. Lamb was very good.

The service is great, very kind, & professional. It's old school style (all man waiter). The food is good, calamari, shrimps, potatoes, veggies, salad. I had the tomahak pork chop. The piece was very nice. I asked medium buy it was well done so i was disappointed. BYOW is great I felt the 5$ charge to uncorked & recycling is a bit excessive. Maybe you can uncorked at home & bring back your bottle to save the fee...

This is my review after the sixth visit. Nestled in the heart of Westmount, Petros is a Greek culinary haven that I recently had the pleasure of experiencing. From the moment I stepped in, the restaurant's beauty struck me - a perfect blend of traditional Greek charm & modern elegance. The warm lighting, rustic decor, & inviting atmosphere set the stage for a memorable dining experience, complemented by the company I was fortunate to share it with. 😍

 As I settled in, it became evident that the restaurant was understaffed, with only one waiter & a pair of hostesses attending to the entire dining area. While this didn't dampen the overall mood, it did extend the waiting times, testing our patience ever so slightly. 😕 The presence of the manager was noted, though his involvement seemed limited when it came to assisting the team during peak hours. It would have been a plus to witness a more hands-on managerial approach. .0246974398934E+34;

🥗 Now, let's delve into the culinary delights that Petros had to offer. The Greek salad, a true hallmark of Mediterranean cuisine, was a burst of freshness on the palate. The generous cuts of tomatoes provided a juicy & tangy counterpoint to the crisp lettuce, cucumbers, & olives. The dressing, a medley of olive oil, lemon, & herbs, tied the elements together harmoniously. 😋

🦑 A standout among the appetizers was the grilled calamari. The delightful char on the tender rings of calamari showcased the kitchen's mastery of grilling, while the seasoning brought out the natural flavors of the seafood. The dish disappeared from the table in no time, leaving behind satisfied smiles all around. 🦑

🍣 For the main course, I decided to embark on a seafood journey, opting for the trio of salmon, grilled shrimp, & swordfish. The fish was beautifully cooked, each variety carrying its unique taste & texture. The salmon, delicate & buttery, practically melted in my mouth, while the swordfish offered a firm & succulent bite. The grilled shrimp, marinated to perfection, provided a satisfying crunch that paired wonderfully with the seafood's tenderness. 🍤🐟

🥦 Alas, not every dish was flawless. The green beans, which had the potential to shine as a delightful side, were unfortunately let down by an unexpected mushiness. It was a minor setback, considering the overall quality of the meal, but still worth mentioning. 🥦

🍷 Petros brings forth a commendable Greek dining experience that marries picturesque surroundings with a medley of flavorful dishes. While the service might have experienced some bottlenecks, the delightful food & charming ambiance ultimately prevail. A visit to Petros promises a journey to the heart of Greece's culinary traditions, where the flavors transport you to the sun-kissed shores of the Mediterranean. 👍🌟

We all enjoyed our meals but we couldn't believe the $2 recycling charge that we all got on our bills.
My wife & I were also surprised when we were told that we had to order another plate after we ordered an appetizer, $19 salad & fish for $30.
We tried to discuss this with the waiter but he insisted that we had to order another plate.
