I love this little place for a quick & cost effective snack or dessert. I dont love the self service thing to pick the food out of the displays but the vibe inside is fun & cute. I have never had an item at coco I hated. I love the garlic cheese bread & the strawberry & cream sweet bun also the ones with hotdogs are a total guilty pleasure. Paired with a delicious Bubble Tea. How can you go wrong?
CoCo Bakery (Chinatown)
This place is chock-full of Asian baked delights. If you think there's only one way to do a coconut bun, think again - they've got every kind imaginable here. Fillings range from fruit to whipped cream, custard, & who knows what else - all fresh & tempting. You grab a tray, pick your favourites, & bring them to the till where they package everything up neatly. Prices are extremely fair for what you get. A must-stop in Chinatown - awesome spot.
Left much to be desired. The baked buns were very heavy on the dough & not the freshest. Had the teriyaki chicken bun along with coconut buns that were extremely hard rather than being light & fluffy. Spent $12 on three buns.. yikes.
This place was excellent. After a few days in Montréal & eating some excellent food, stopping in here for a snack was the best choice we've made so far. The pastries were all amazing. So far everything we've tried was excellent, & even if something wasn't quite to our taste, we can fully acknowledge that the quality is great even if the flavor profile doesn't align with our palates. The hot dog bun in particular stands out as one of the best I've had. The staff were excellent & even though it was super busy, they were diligent & courteous.
The only note I have is that the bubble tea was too sweet & the cashier didn't ask for sweetness preferences like I'm used to. But honestly thats a minor thing & overall it was amazing.
A ton of options, both savory & sweet, & everything looked delicious. I can confirm the coconut bun, Hong Kong bun, red bean bun, cheese bun, & Japanese style cheesecake were all amazing. Everything was well labeled, organized, & service was quick. No complaints! Will definitely eat there again.
Food: 3/5 - I bought 3 assorted buns & pastries - slice of cake, BBQ pork bun & matcha cake slice. None of them wowed me. Lacked flavor. Maybe cuz I bake my own stuff a lot. I also bought a mango iced tea on the other side of the store. They offer basic tea or milk teas. I had a mango tea with coconut jelly with no sugar or ice.
Service: 4/5 - good service overall
Atmosphere: 4/5 - clean & nice premise
Cafe within Montreal chinatown. We tried bunch of bakery items, I liked the strawberry croissant.
Wide selection of brioches, buns & cakes 🍰 Service was quick & efficient & everything was clearly labelled. The egg coconut brioche & pork steamed bun were standouts. They have a small seating area along the window with high stools with space for about 5.
Fantastic baked goods. Our favorite is the custard bun. We come back on every trip to Montreal.
