One of the best duck dishes I've had in a long time. Their focaccia surprised me- super high hydration dough & great taste. Salad also delicious, has a tomato sauce on the bottom you can soak up the bread with.
Beau grand spot vibes Mc Kiernan
We had a wonderful dinner at Papito! Our waiter, Juan, was very helpful with our decision making on what to order. They have menus in English, which made it easier for us to know some of the items. But Juan described each dish in detail & gave us history of the restaurant.
We ordered asparagus as a vegetable, Pork Sausage & Lamb Chops as our mains, & the charcoal potatoes as a side. We also ordered chimichurri sauce (highly recommend).
The ambiance was immaculate. This is a great place to have a romantic dinner or a gathering of friends/colleagues. Just be aware this is more of a family-style adventure. It's ideal if you can share plates (& the bill). There are a variety of seating areas (bar, tables, inside/outside).
Our meat choices were spectacular. The lamb was medium rare (fine, but we weren't given an option for temperature). The pork sausage had a cheese inside & that was fun. The chimichurri sauce elevated the flavors so well. It was bright, fresh, & added depth to the meal.
If you're reading this, GET THE POTATOES! Yes, there are muscles, yes, it has tomatoes, it also has chorizo, & all of that together sounds chaotic, but I promise you'll enjoy them.
We didn't order any drinks so I can't say anything about that.
The taste was incredible! The portions, less so. Our server was very patient & kind & helped explain the menu to us. We were very excited for the lamb saddle from the pictures we saw online-however, when they came out, ours were small & lacking in comparison. The picture of the food almost looked embarrassing because the meat was so thin & small in quantity, despite spending well into the triple digits. This small cut alone was what brought this review from 5 to 3 stars.
On the other hand, HIGHLY recommend the spicy cucumbers. Absolutely delicious. Whatever vinaigrette-oil they are doused in is an amazing dipping sauce for meat, bread, etc. Order this for sure.
Delicious food with great portions. Ordered the lamb, chicken, bread, bearnaise sauce, buttermilk salad & it was the perfect amount for two people. Minus points for the dessert, unfortunately. The banana bread was very cold & felt stale & the mascarpone mousse was too sweet, especially with the butterscotch on top. Could use some reworking in terms of texture & balance. Otherwise great! The service was lovely & I look forward to going back & trying other items on the menu!
Merci Papito!
Wow! What a pleasant discovery! We found out about the restaurant online just an hour before our meal. Shoutout to the cooks who are master of sauces! Everything was delicious! Nice cuisson on the meats, really nice, fun & tasty sides, lovely summer salad with grilled tomato vinaigrette & buttermilk. Love the attention to detail in every plate. We'll definitely come back to try other things from the menu. Lovely wine selection as well.
Recommande la brochette d'agneau & canard! Chimichurri & béarnaise sauce les deux étaient bons. Vraiment nice vibe
Service impeccable. Vin au verre abordable.
Great selection of entrees & meats! Chimichurri sauce was 5$ extra but it's worth it & the portion is more than enough for two people. The duck was a bit too chewy for me but overall the food was delicious. It also would've been nice if our martinis were served in martini glasses instead of water glasses. Service was excellent & the staff were very friendly. I would still come back to try other things on the menu!
Visited Papito last evening after several recommendations - it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was lively & vibrant & all of the staff, from arrival to leaving, were friendly & welcoming! Edgy, yet unpretentious! But the food was the star of the show! It's farm to table - fresh & delicious! As a group of 5, we ordered a number of plates to share. The ceviche literally melted in my mouth! The array of vegetable dishes were outstanding! How they made carrots so delicious is a mystery! The meat dishes - duck & sausage - were perfection! Sauces were amazing & not too heavy, perfectly complementing the dishes. The type of food that you know you should stop eating because you are full, but can't because it's sooooo good! We had to try the desserts! The pistachio cake was next level! Papito may be my new favourite restaurant in MTL! All 5 of us agreed that we will definitely be back!
the vibe & service here are very nice. no complaints to that end. but my rating is mostly based on food & whether or not i see myself coming back. i have to start with the good: the lobster shrimp toast was amazing & i would get that again in a heartbeat. i also enjoyed the baked potato. unfortunately we were quite disappointed with the meats that we ordered which i thought would have been the main star of the meal (lamb, duck, porchetta). fyi they didn't come with any sauce which u have to order separately for $5 extra. not sure if this is common practice but i found it odd since i'm used to having meats come with wtv sauce. anw we felt that the meats were dry & tough to chew so we didn't have a good experience with it
Ambiance détendue & un espace aéré. Belle terrasse. Enfin un super rapport qualité prix. Superbe sauce aux morilles un délice. Superbe assiette de grillades. Carte des vins abordables.
Rondelles d'oignons sauce ranch avec morilles, vraiment bonnes avec nos cocktails (Magarita & Sazerac) . Des viandes succulentes ! Côte de veau & ribs d'agneau. Très bons vins !
