Wonderful dining experience with absolutely delicious food!
I doubt I have enjoyed beetroot as much as I enjoyed it at Papito. The duck was cooked to perfection as was the braised lamb (day's special). We found this place by chance & so glad we opted to dine here
Loved it. Ordered the Beetroot Starter which is enough for 4 pax to share.
Duck & lamb chops with the gravy. It was plenty for 2 pax. 1 cocktail, 1 wine. Bill with tax without tips came up to CAD 130+
Affordable.
Just finished up a quick bit here & was very impressed. Admittedly I only went in to try the duck, it was some of the best I've had. Perfectly cooked over charcoal with that super crispy skin that is so often lacking. I sat at the bar & the service was great, everyone that I spoke to was amazing. It is definitely a bit on the louder side so something to be aware of if you're not into that, but I loved how lively it was. Wine selection was excellent. All in all, can't wait to bring some friends here next time we're in town, would be great to share some meat platters. Merci Papito!
I ordered the lamb & duck. The food was good & tasty. The duck was juicy & the lamb was seared beautifully. It's good but it's just a little bit expensive for the portions.
We went for MtlaTable & it was very good price-quality ratio. The portions were very generous for a 3 course menu at $50. We tried a few things but my favorites were the Ceviche, the Brussel Sprouts & the Duck Magret.
The only downside is that the music is a little loud & it is more latino dance music.
I may come back but their regular menu seems a little expensive.
It's a perfect place to go & share a casual meal with, I really enjoyed the duck! The proteins flavours didn't penetrate as much in my opinion but the sides MORE than make up for it! The Asparagus is FABULOUS & the portions are generally!
Duck & the salad came with it was so good! Cucumber with walnut & a mix of tahini & yogurt? Drizzle.
My meal here was incredible. One of the best duck dishes I've had in a long time. Their focaccia surprised me- super high hydration dough & great taste. Salad also delicious, has a tomato sauce on the bottom you can soak up the bread with.
Papito, definitely here to stay
Arrived in Montreal for the Jazz Festival,
Googled some spots, & luckily found Papito.
With no reservation, somehow we got a small place beside the bar -
the house was packed, 100% full, buzzing with life.
The menu? Nice & simple.
We ordered a few things, not expecting much -
until the food arrived.
My wife & I couldn't stop eating, couldn't stop salivating.
What flavors! Perfect execution.
The bread? The best I've ever had.
Duck Magret? They killed it - absolutely sublime.
Kafta, sausage, salad, potatoes -
every bite perfect, honest, unforgettable.
& the drinks!
As brilliant as the kitchen.
They served us amazing cocktails, crafted with love.
The whiskey sour was flawless,
but the Carrillo… oh my God,
I had three (I think).
Of course, none of this would be possible
without the incredible crew Papito has.
A round of applause for them! 👏
This is the kind of place
that makes every other restaurant feel average.
Thank you, Papito.
See you soon.
This place delivered on decent portioned sharing plates. I am so tired of tapas style with just one or two portions. We were four people & we ordered the chicken, beets, eggplant & duck with the rutabaga puree. Everything was so well balanced & interesting in terms of flavour. The beets were my favourite! The acidity level was on point. Our bill came out to $30 per person & we were full. Ambiance & service is 10/10. Personally up there with Tuck Shop & better than Vin Mon Lapin. I would come back again!
Many delicious dishes at reasonable price, especially given the quantity: duck, tuna, lettuce salad. The most flavorful dish was the fried aubergine with a spicy glaze. 4 dishes, 1 drink per person...netted out $150 total before tip. Service from Annie was also TOP notch.
Delicious food, especially the duck meat! Love the staff's service & their suggestions! Two downsides: their cocktails are not the best, but definitely recommend their crafted beer, & there are flies in the restaurant... was quite annoying
First time at Papitos. Great atmosphere. Meat was fantastic however was disappointed that Porchetta was not available/out of stock. Expect that your meat will be mostly rare. Unfortunately I couldn't eat some of the duck & prime rib because it was so undercooked. Vegetables were disappointing, green (actually yellow?!) beans & broccoli were cold, mushrooms were undercooked & super small serving & just smothered in purée. Tomato's were fresh & delicious though.
Amazing homey & cozy restaurant. Feels like you're eating at a chef friend's house. Everything we had was so so tasty, great attention to details & phenomenal menu. The duck was out of this world, the espadon steak too. We also loved the lamb & the clams. Good wine too. Lots of vegetarian options (turn sides into plates). Get a lot of plates & share!
We had a great experience! The food was SO good (we ate the duck, skewed lamb, asparagus, polenta & potatoes, & the chimichurri), Jessi our waiter was lovely & very helpful & the range of gluten free dishes was great!!! Highly recommended
Great selection of entrees & meats! Chimichurri sauce was 5$ extra but it's worth it & the portion is more than enough for two people. The duck was a bit too chewy for me but overall the food was delicious. It also would've been nice if our martinis were served in martini glasses instead of water glasses. Service was excellent & the staff were very friendly. I would still come back to try other things on the menu!
On a recent visit to Montreal, I discovered a new restaurant downtown. Housed in a former large shoe store with a simple entrance marked only by the street number above the door. As you step inside, you're greeted by a large, vibrant dining hall flanked by a huge open kitchen with a prominent charcoal grill. At the far end of the space is a beautiful patio! Was full but looked very inviting! While the space is beautiful, the food is the star here, with fresh, locally sourced farm-to-table meats & vegetables. Every dish is prepared with care & creativity, & the presentation is nothing short of gorgeous. But the taste is even better! The friendly service enhances the dining experience, making you feel welcome & well-cared for. There was also an excellent wine list to complement the dishes. Must try's - the sausage, ceviche & duck! This hidden gem, named Papito as a tribute to the owner's father, is destined to become one of the best restaurants in town. Don't miss the chance to check it out!
Visited Papito last evening after several recommendations - it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was lively & vibrant & all of the staff, from arrival to leaving, were friendly & welcoming! Edgy, yet unpretentious! But the food was the star of the show! It's farm to table - fresh & delicious! As a group of 5, we ordered a number of plates to share. The ceviche literally melted in my mouth! The array of vegetable dishes were outstanding! How they made carrots so delicious is a mystery! The meat dishes - duck & sausage - were perfection! Sauces were amazing & not too heavy, perfectly complementing the dishes. The type of food that you know you should stop eating because you are full, but can't because it's sooooo good! We had to try the desserts! The pistachio cake was next level! Papito may be my new favourite restaurant in MTL! All 5 of us agreed that we will definitely be back!
Cannot speak highly enough about this place! Quickly a new Montreal favourite of mine. The menu options are fun & fresh, super delicious, & akin to farm to table. The duck is a highlight & their veggie options are terrific & based on seasonality. Drinks could use a tiny bit of work, but I know they'll get there. Wine list is great!
