Reviews for Otto Yakitori Izakaya

skewer(32) chicken(22) japanese(17) brochettes(14) drink(12) izakaya(11) truffle(8) dishes(8) squid(7)I was looking forward to eating here after seeing it recommended on The Mains instagram post. The food was pretty bland overall. We got the Otto set, tori soup, saba zuke, bibimbap & grilled vegetables. We ended up over seasoning everything with the spice mix that was on the table. Service & atmosphere were great but the food was just not good at all.View more
Went to every single izakaya in the area, like Tempura Kyoudai & Biru Biru. This place blows them all out of the water. Skewers are reasonably priced, they know how to make a good chuhai (though I would ask for extra shochu on the side). Service is good, atmosphere is good. Reminds me of actual izakayas that I frequented in Japan. Kitchen closes at 1130 & last drink is at 1230.View more
The brussel sprouts were great but other than that, the rest of the dishes were just...fine? The chicken in the negina was very juicy but 2 of my usual favourites (pork belly & kalbi) were quite dry. The service was particularly disappointing... They were friendly once we finally got their attention, but they didn't ask to take our order until we waved them down & never checked on us to ask how the meal was, refill water, take dishes, or ask if we wanted to order anything else.View more
Izakaya with great atmosphere. Great cocktails & skewers. The truffle dishes & cocktails are a bit gimmicky & I don't see the point of adding truffle to them. The skewers we got were also slightly cold. Overall still a great place to chill with friends late at night.View more
We love coming to Otto! It's one of our favorite restaurants. Everything is amazing! 🫰🏻View more
We went there on a Saturday night. Very nice place & atmosphere. The music was good & all. We loved the food & there was a good selections of drink. Why I put 2 stars for.the service is that we constantly had to ask for water refill, the service personne was bringing food on the table without picking up the old empty plates so we ended up having a table full of empty dishes. She brought a sake bottle on the table & did not even do anything to open the bottle, left it there for us to do. Plus when she brought in the cup for the Sake, she brought them with all of her fingers inside the cup 🍶. That's a big no-no.View more
Une belle place à découvriView more
Ordered saba teishoku for lunch. Everything was great but it could've been perfect. Server didn't ask & took my dokuri cup after paying the bill. I had little bit of Dassai left but it was no longer gone so I left😂View more
Food was amazing & had to reorder. Service was astonishing. Jolan was the star of the night. Made the night even more memorable. Damesh garm!View more
Ordered a mix of Japanese yakitori skewers. Delicious but the best was the chicken skin! Would definitely go back. A good option if you re looking for a snack or something to go with a cold beer in a park. -- Update 2024 Went back for a proper sit down meal. Everything was still as good as the way I remembered the skewers were the stars of the night. So much choice for the skewers. still a definite must try in Montreal.View more
Very authentic food & atmosphere, friendly service, try everything!View more
The restaurant was pretty busy & the environment seemed fast-paced, but the service & food were excellent. The dishes are small & inexpensive & there is also a lot of variety, so it's a great opportunity to try multiple dishes. Lastly, the ambiance is exactly what we were hoping for in an izakaya restaurant. This is a great place to eat & have some drinks!View more
Food is OK, average at best. Food presentation was nice. Service can be slow... The reservation experience was not too pleasant & the person who attends to calls was extremely stressed, border line rude. We asked for an extra chair as one more person joined the party. The restaurant was 80% empty. They insisted they are fully booked & do not have an extra chair. We squeezed ourselves on the bench & all along the 1 hour 45 min we were there, the restaurant remained with plenty of empty seats. Probably many no shows or late arrivals. This could have been handled more appropriately & diplomatically. Again the person who handled this was too stressed & borderline rude. She needs training on how to speak to clients & handle situations like these. I suspect she was the same one who also answered our reservation call. Not the best experience. We will unlikely return.View more
Excellent yakitori. As good as I have had in Japan. Would recommend for Japanese in the city.View more
Superbe place! Deco très jolie, ramen à tomber par terre & les yakitori ne sont pas en reste non plus! On a pris les brochettes de flanc de porc, les moto & la peau de poulet, c'était parfait.View more
Absolument parfait ! 😊View more
I'll start with the good. The service was great, super friendly & kind. The place is clean & comfortable. Sad to say, the food was bland. It was cooked perfectly, but the chef seems to be allergic to seasoning. Everything we ordered had zero flavor. I was really disappointed, hopefully it was just a bad night.View more
