When he finally came by, we ordered food & he didn't suggest a larger portion size seeing as we were six people. Albeit, we could've asked for how much food to expect for what we ordered, but we didn't expect to have to wait 30 minutes for 4 skewers, & another 30 minutes for the server to check up on us so we could order more food. This trend repeated itself over & what could've been a quick hour & a half meal turned into 3 hours of waiting for the server to stop taking shots at the bar & see us, just for us to leave hungry. I would not recommend this place at all. The chicken thighs were crazy good thoughView more
Ordered a bunch of skewers & the only noteworthy ones were the short ribs & chicken thigh with green onion. The short rib had the best char. The chicken thigh, chicken wing, unagi, beef tongue were all very bland.View more
Had always heard about this place but never really made it there until last weekend for a friend's birthday. The sets are good. But I honestly feel that customize the set is the way forward for multiple reasons Highlights of the night Chawanmushi- lovely custard in a dashi On point & delicious. Karrage- weird Crispy chicken was accompanied with some sweet potato fritters, why ? No idea. The octopus taco , mind blowing in every sense, the Wasabi blows your senses out. The bao was decent , nothing too crazy. The combo platters were delightful. A pretty good selection of sale we had almost.1/2 of the available selection No negatives but I would love this part Sapporo & Asahi is lovely. But asia has great beers , look at them & incorporate them in your menu. Having a overhead lamp to keep the food warm won't hurt , since the concept of the restaurant is all about sharing. All that being said , lovely place & food was awesome.View more
The brussel sprouts were great but other than that, the rest of the dishes were just...fine? The chicken in the negina was very juicy but 2 of my usual favourites (pork belly & kalbi) were quite dry. The service was particularly disappointing... They were friendly once we finally got their attention, but they didn't ask to take our order until we waved them down & never checked on us to ask how the meal was, refill water, take dishes, or ask if we wanted to order anything else.View more
Ordered a mix of Japanese yakitori skewers. Delicious but the best was the chicken skin! Would definitely go back. A good option if you re looking for a snack or something to go with a cold beer in a park. -- Update 2024 Went back for a proper sit down meal. Everything was still as good as the way I remembered the skewers were the stars of the night. So much choice for the skewers. still a definite must try in Montreal.View more
Amazing place with delicious food. The yakitori are great, & the ramen is surprisingly great, definitely in the top 5 in Montreal. The charcoal grill is what makes this place truly special, & the grilled chicken in the ramen is a unique but amazing choice. The broth was also surprisingly good without being too heavy. The egg was amazing, & the raw red onion was a great addition. My only complaint is that it's fairly loud, & the server made a mistake, though they corrected it. Overall a great experience though. The cocktails are expensive however, & not particularly special.View more
I think this place is ok but a bit overrated. Work recommend trying it out but its not going to blow your mind. Enjoyed the chicken, skewer things. Nothing really blew my mind but its not bad! 2022 edit - I actually have been going back & really like it these days. Love the meat & the mushrooms.View more
Ordered some skewers which was pretty good, chicken truffle had so much fat & didn't really taste good, everything else was very very good but specially the pork baosView more
Overpriced food & drinks. Prices are not reasonable. The chicken wing was too salty, not well cooked. The overall experience was under expected so I won't recommend to go.View more
Super tasty food Recommend the Brussel sprouts & black angus skewers. Chicken thighs are great value too The cocktail pitchers will get you blastedView more
Ordered a few skewers, chicken wings were soft... low lit lights didn't allow to see if the chicken was cooked or not. Ordered a set of Otto skewers. Again, we had the chicken wings, but this time round, we checked, & it was raw. Even though knowing the skewers were under & RAW. Paid for the meal. & the waitress was, instead of apologetic was upset we didn't tip. & had told them the food was raw. Raw chicken isn't a joke. Maybe have the chefs checked out to see if they know how to cook chicken properly or any other food items to avoid our food POISONING we had last night. customers shouldnt or need to require to tell you that food is raw especially when its was the 2nd time round of ordering. On top of that our 2nd order was forgotten. What an absolute joke. Don't be all sour because we didn't tip. Seek your manager or owner & deal with it umonsg yourselves. In this situation, the meal shouldn't even be charged. Have a little more professionalism & reflec on your customer service skills & health & food safety for customers who attend the restaurant.View more
Impeccable food, service & Japanese bar atmosphere! It was a recomendation to visit the resto & I do not regret! In the evening, it was full & many Asian-origin customers, which is a goid sign. It doesn't happen often these days to find a reasonable price- quality ratio place where people know what a tasty, flavourful food is. The menu is extensive! I really enjoyed tataki octopus & wasabi cold grilled macrel & grilled squid. Was not sure about the yakitori set - grilled & fried various parts of chicken on a skewer. The Japanese cheesecake & fried tea ice-cream were delish! Will come back to pick up other goodies on the menu!View more
Chicken was not cooked through. Felt sick the night & day after. Uni steam egg was laughable. Have you tasted it yourself? Have you tasted it anywhere in Japan, even those cheap breakfast joins? I guess not. Squid was heavily covered with starch & overcooked. Run by Chinese, not Japanese. Nothing wrong with Chinese chef cooking Japanese food ONLY IF YOU ACTUALLY LEARNED COOKING FROM A LEGIT JAPANESE! Otherwise, it's just not authentic.

I was really happy to see that there is an izakaya here in Montreal, which I totally didn’t expect, especially with food being this good! We enjoyed everything we ordered but definitely get the Chicken Karaage, which I call Japanese style fried chicken as a Taiwanese. They open pretty late too, so it’s a perfect place for late night hangouts!View more
