Edit: today I had ramen & onigiri. The ramen miso was not as tasty. I wish corn was disclosed as I have an intolerance. But at the same time I didn't know that traditional miso has sweet corn especially Sapporo style noodles
There was a mistake in my order which happens I am not mad & instead of letting me keep like any other restaurant or to keep it for employees, server took it & threw it away in the trash. I am fine if employees keep for themselves at least it is not wasted & it goes to a tummy. But she throws it away in this economy & cost crisis? Might as well let it for the consumer or employee to consume. At the same you never know if consumer might have a new favourite & come more. Just a bit disappointing.
I love the Onigiri Shop by Concordia but this one is bad. There was someone's lipstick stain still on my miso soup bowl. The onigiris were not fresh & the spot is just not well kept.
We had been wanting to try Onigiri Shop for some time. We really appreciate that the St-Denis location offers various promotions. It's probably why this location is so well-loved by students & the younger crowd. Here, you order at the counter, receive a pager that beeps when your order is ready, & seat yourself at one of the tables. There aren't too many tables available, however people eat quickly so you shouldn't have to wait more than 15-20 minutes to dine-in. We have tried the classic flavours such as spicy salmon, spicy tuna, Korean fried chicken, & beef miso. Initially we thought 5$ for an onigiri was on the pricier side, however these onigiris are huge, much larger than the standard ones in Japan. We would say two onigiris should be filling enough for one person. The staff was friendly & the onigiri came out fast, within 3-5 minutes. Highly recommend if you're in the area for a cheap, simple, & yummy meal.

J'explique : je rentre dans la succursale Saint-Denis, il est environ 17 h 30 & plusieurs tables sont occupées. Il n'y a qu'une seule personne derrière le comptoir, elle est donc assez occupée. Elle vient rapidement prendre ma commande, touche quelques éléments à la caisse (menu, écran de caisse), & me remet le petit bipeur qui m'indiquera quand ma commande sera prête, tout ça EN GARDANT SES GANTS avec lesquels elle cuisinait. Elle fait demi-tour & repart préparer d'autres commandes, TOUJOURS AVEC LES MÊMES GANTS ! Je la vois clairement manipuler de la nourriture sans changer ses gants ni se laver les mains, après avoir touché toutes sortes de surfaces qui n'étaient manifestement pas propres. D'autres clients entrent, & elle recommence exactement la même chose! Depuis combien de temps portait-elle ces gants? J'ai déposé mon beeper & je suis parti sans prendre ma commande (alors que je l'avais déjà payée).
C'est vraiment pas hygiénique. Si votre commerce fonctionne si bien, chers propriétaires, voici mes suggestions :
1- Formez correctement vos employés aux règles de salubrité.
2- Prévoyez plus d'une personne derrière le comptoir à l'heure du rush, afin que le personnel ait le temps de travailler dans les règles de l'art.
J'écris rarement ce genre d'avis, mais j'ai jugé nécessaire d'en informer le public.
This was a truly ideal experience for us. Needed to grab a quick lunch before getting a bus. Combo included a wonderful stuffed Onigiri ( we had salmon, spiced Tuns & miso beef) all were wonderful- miso soup was beautifully balanced-warm mocha drink was so tasty- had coconut milk in it & was served in an insulated cup so it was still warm after 8 min. All plates bowls & utensils were wood so it felt so high quality. Service very pleasant & clear.

The shop is simple & no-frills, but clean & comfortable. It wasn't too crowded when I went.
I ordered a Korean fried chicken onigiri & a salmon one. The onigiri are huge, one is already very filling, & two is honestly too much (too good) for someone like me. But they're so good (I cant stop eating). The rice is cooked perfectly: soft, slightly sticky, not dry at all, wrapped in seaweed with a generous filling in the center.
Each onigiri is around $5, which feels very reasonable considering the size. Big, affordable, & satisfying. I also ordered a small ramen with miso broth. It was okay, but the onigiri is really the star here, simple, but peak comfort food.
Orders come out fast, around 3-5 minutes. I've officially become an onigiri addict after this place. Highly recommend if you're visiting Montreal, cheap, simple, & delicious. I'll probably come back a thousand more times whenever I'm in town.
Farshid was so kind & helpful that he accepted, with his team, to prepare my order even though they were about to close. The service was excellent, & everyone was very helpful. Really appreciate the kindness-highly recommended!
For the price, this place is amazing.
Employee professional but friendly, onigiri tasted really good, they are chubby too.

Le riz était vieux & sec, trop salé, mal assaisoné. Les onigiris tombaient en morceaux. Quand la base de ton plat vedette (le riz) n'est pas de niveau, il n'y a rien à faire. Même les garnitures (correctes sans plus) ne pouvaient pas compenser pour la déception.
Essayé la limonade : sans intérêt, mais j'apprécie qu'elle n'était pas trop sucrée.
Ambiance typique de restaurant qui cherche principalement à satisfaire le marché ubereats.
I tried the beef & the spicy salmon. Both are really good, though the beef is much saltier than the salmon so that there's an imbalance when you have them both at once. Service was fast & efficient.
