We enjoyed everything we ate. The food was a new take on familiar dishes that were wonderful. I would absolutely recommend the tapioca dessert. We never would have tried it if our wonderful server, Clodi, had not suggested it, but it was amazing & indescribable.
The food was okay. I didn't find it special enough to justify the price. The menu descriptions make the dishes sound more flavorful & exciting than they actually were. I went in with an open mind & was genuinely looking forward to trying the food, but the flavors ended up being fairly average. I think my expectations may have been too high.
The service was good, & our waitress was kind & attentive. The atmosphere is beautiful & well-designed.
One thing I found extremely strange was the presentation of one of the dishes. It was served on crumpled paper, which honestly made me feel like I was eating out of a shoebox. It felt a bit odd & took away from the overall dining experience.
Service & atmosphere were incredible, food was incredible! Highly recommend this place for everyone, they were very accommodating for dietary restrictions & chef Andy came to the table so we could thank him. Can't wait to go back & try more dishes, yummmmmmmmm
Server was very nice but the restaurant rules were a bit confusing, we were told it was a paced/multiple courses type place, then were asked if we wanted all the dishes at once instead.
Atmosphere was nice, not too loud, cool Asian decor, music was fun but sounded Latin rather than Asian (all good, just not themed).
Food was below my expectations for the price. Lamb skewers, wonton soup, spicy noodles, were all good food, but not good Chinese food. The flavor of the lamb & noodles specifically were missing the Asian spice style I'm used to. I was hoping for more Din Tai Fung style food.
What sealed the 3 star was not taking Amex, no reason not to do so in a major city while charging $100+ per table imho, not a small enough business to be skirting CC fees.
Had a wonderful experience at Oncle Lee Kao Restaurant tonight. I reserved the restaurant for a surprise anniversary celebration for more than 40 guests, & from the very first email to the end of the evening, everything was impeccable.
The team made the entire planning process so simple & stress-free. They thought of every detail, even the smallest ones, & were incredibly accommodating throughout. A huge thank you to the amazing staff, especially Marie, Jean-Français, Nora & more (as there are other staff members also, but with my red fish memory, I can't remember them). They are truly exceptional! Everyone was so friendly & attentive, making sure that we had a memorable & enjoyable evening.
The restaurant itself is beautiful & actually even more stunning than the photos. The ambiance is elegant, warm, & inviting, making it a perfect setting for a special occasion.
The food was very good & beautifully presented. The portions were generous, & I found the pricing to be very fair for the quality of the food, service, & overall experience. A few dishes were a little salty for my taste, although I do tend to prefer lighter seasoning. As an Asian myself, I found it interesting & enjoyable how many dishes incorporated different textures, adding a pleasant crunchiness to each bite. My favorite dishes were definitely the octopus skewer & the fried rice.
One suggestion for future group events would be to provide a printed group menu at the table. Several guests asked about the menu during the evening, & I had to refer back to my emails to answer their questions. I think having a physical menu available would be greatly appreciated by future groups.
Overall, thank you so much to the entire Oncle Lee team. We had an incredible evening & created wonderful memories. I would gladly recommend this restaurant for both special events & a great dining experience.
Off the bat, when we entered the restaurant the employees were very professional & the restaurant had a very unique aesthetic which I really loved. We took the group menu so we didn't get to choose our food from La Carte. The food was okay. I felt like the food was drowned in sauce like the egg plant, chow mein, etc. Some meals were overly salty & sweet. The dishes didn't complement each other. My experience was pretty disappointing but I feel like they still have potential.
We've been to many of the restaurants under this same ownership & have had great experiences thus we were pleased when we found out that this was another under the same excellent management. The place is really nice although I do prefer better lighting as the menu is sometimes hard to read due to the dim lights. We also found that the music got too loud too early so we had trouble hearing each other.
The entree started very well as the shrimp toast was excellent. But the main dishes were less good, notably the garlic vegetables were just one vegetable & not really tasty. The beef tataki was pretty good & the garlic rice was very good. Overall a nice place but not as good as other options.
Modern Asian fusion restaurant in downtown/Old Montreal. Serving traditional Chinese dishes with modern twist. Good service & atmosphere too.
Excellent food. Great variety of unique Japanese dishes meant to be shared. This was our first visit & we had an early reservation so the vibe was quiet & there was little or no background music but I'm sure it picks ip in the late evening.
Service was excellent - our waitress was extremely helpful with the menu & the wine selection.
Will definitely be back.
Great music, great service, great food.
Nice moody vibe with low lighting. Amazing dishes all around.
We ordered the duck platter, the mapo tofu & the lamb skewers. Everything just melts in your mouth!
Bring your friends, dishes are great to share (& you can split the bill)
Definitely recommend
