Review Summary

Across reviews, Oncle Lee Kǎo is described as a modern Asian fusion spot with a Chinese emphasis, where the spice duck and duck platter are standout dishes and the food is frequently praised for creativity and bold flavors, while the service is consistently attentive and friendly and the restaurant is noted for accommodating allergies and offering thoughtful options, a lively yet not overpowering atmosphere with a strong wine and sake list and well executed cocktails, though some diners mention that a few dishes can be saucy and salty and a few menu items feel unbalanced, and lighting and noise levels vary by time, making it sometimes lively but still a place to return to for many, with vegan and vegetarian options and a sense that the kitchen can deliver a memorable experience even when not all courses hit the same high note.

Off the bat, when we entered the restaurant the employees were very professional & the restaurant had a very unique aesthetic which I really loved. We took the group menu so we didn't get to choose our food from La Carte. The food was okay. I felt like the food was drowned in sauce like the egg plant, chow mein, etc. Some meals were overly salty & sweet. The dishes didn't complement each other. My experience was pretty disappointing but I feel like they still have potential.

We've been to many of the restaurants under this same ownership & have had great experiences thus we were pleased when we found out that this was another under the same excellent management. The place is really nice although I do prefer better lighting as the menu is sometimes hard to read due to the dim lights. We also found that the music got too loud too early so we had trouble hearing each other.
The entree started very well as the shrimp toast was excellent. But the main dishes were less good, notably the garlic vegetables were just one vegetable & not really tasty. The beef tataki was pretty good & the garlic rice was very good. Overall a nice place but not as good as other options.

Modern Asian fusion restaurant in downtown/Old Montreal. Serving traditional Chinese dishes with modern twist. Good service & atmosphere too.

Excellent food. Great variety of unique Japanese dishes meant to be shared. This was our first visit & we had an early reservation so the vibe was quiet & there was little or no background music but I'm sure it picks ip in the late evening.
Service was excellent - our waitress was extremely helpful with the menu & the wine selection.
Will definitely be back.

Great music, great service, great food.

Nice moody vibe with low lighting. Amazing dishes all around.

We ordered the duck platter, the mapo tofu & the lamb skewers. Everything just melts in your mouth!

Bring your friends, dishes are great to share (& you can split the bill)

Definitely recommend
