Server was very nice but the restaurant rules were a bit confusing, we were told it was a paced/multiple courses type place, then were asked if we wanted all the dishes at once instead.
Atmosphere was nice, not too loud, cool Asian decor, music was fun but sounded Latin rather than Asian (all good, just not themed).
Food was below my expectations for the price. Lamb skewers, wonton soup, spicy noodles, were all good food, but not good Chinese food. The flavor of the lamb & noodles specifically were missing the Asian spice style I'm used to. I was hoping for more Din Tai Fung style food.
What sealed the 3 star was not taking Amex, no reason not to do so in a major city while charging $100+ per table imho, not a small enough business to be skirting CC fees.
Had a wonderful experience at Oncle Lee Kao Restaurant tonight. I reserved the restaurant for a surprise anniversary celebration for more than 40 guests, & from the very first email to the end of the evening, everything was impeccable.
The team made the entire planning process so simple & stress-free. They thought of every detail, even the smallest ones, & were incredibly accommodating throughout. A huge thank you to the amazing staff, especially Marie, Jean-Français, Nora & more (as there are other staff members also, but with my red fish memory, I can't remember them). They are truly exceptional! Everyone was so friendly & attentive, making sure that we had a memorable & enjoyable evening.
The restaurant itself is beautiful & actually even more stunning than the photos. The ambiance is elegant, warm, & inviting, making it a perfect setting for a special occasion.
The food was very good & beautifully presented. The portions were generous, & I found the pricing to be very fair for the quality of the food, service, & overall experience. A few dishes were a little salty for my taste, although I do tend to prefer lighter seasoning. As an Asian myself, I found it interesting & enjoyable how many dishes incorporated different textures, adding a pleasant crunchiness to each bite. My favorite dishes were definitely the octopus skewer & the fried rice.
One suggestion for future group events would be to provide a printed group menu at the table. Several guests asked about the menu during the evening, & I had to refer back to my emails to answer their questions. I think having a physical menu available would be greatly appreciated by future groups.
Overall, thank you so much to the entire Oncle Lee team. We had an incredible evening & created wonderful memories. I would gladly recommend this restaurant for both special events & a great dining experience.
Asian fusion with a focus on Chinese food. The 5 spice duck is a must order. Service is friendly & excellent. This place would easily be in my top recommendations for Montreal. Credit goes to my wife for bringing me here.
What a great evening! Our first time & it won't be the last. 10/10. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was inviting & lively...but the star of the show was the food. Very tasty combination of flavors, textures, cooking techniques & thoughtful interpretation of Asian cuisine. An exciting sharing menu. Good wine selection. Highly recommend.
Modern Chinese cuisine that balances Asian influence with a modern flair. Chef Lee Andersen lives up to his reputation. The plates were nicely served. The service was excellent, & the ambiance was matched the food, traditional with a modern twist.
We had the following & have nothing negative to say:
Although every dish was very flavourful I think I would especially recommend the tofu dip, the 5 spice duck platter & the Crispy chow mein. The coconut tapioca dessert was excellent as well.
