10/10 experience - high quality food & service
Overall we had such an amazing experience. The waiter was kind & offered suggestions to add to our drinks order, as my partner likes yuzu. I got the H20 & loved the taste of Sake & Mezcal.
The ramen I had was a rich, fatty & salty broth with amazing taste & fresh noodles. Definitely delicious but if you're looking for a healthy option try the Miso!
My partner had their signature mazesoba & it was AMAZING with fresh herbs & meat.
For this price point in this neighbourhood I'd highly recommend it. 10/10 value too.
Best. Ramen. In. Town.
The open kitchen concept adds & extra dimension to the experience they're offering at Neotokyo.
The aesthetic makes you feel like you're stepping off the streets of Montreal into a local ramen shop in Tokyo!
The drinks are great & pair well with the food they offer. If you're in the area or not, it's worth trying.
Before myself & the group of friends I went with left we were already planning to come back again shortly. Not only is a fun & cool place to check out the food is one of the best bites I've had in Montreal.
The ramen was OK but nothing special. The place itself is cool. However, I was disappointed by the cocktail. As you see, there was too much ice for 12 Cad. Actually, it was not comfortable to drink because of the ice. When I asked for the straw, I got it served the way I am holding. So not very hygienic at all. There was no individual packaging or anything. The waiter was literally holding it like this..
I had such a great experience, easy 5 stars.
The vibe alone is worth the visit. It honestly felt like stepping into one of those dark, cinematic video game restaurant scenes, moody lighting, graffiti walls, a kind of futuristic Tokyo metal aesthetic. It's edgy & industrial, but somehow still cool & chic at the same time. Not pretentious, just effortlessly stylish. The whole space feels immersive, like you're in on something special.
For food, we told our waiter to surprise us & pick the dishes, & that was 100% the right move. Every plate that came out was excellent. Everything felt balanced, intentional, & exciting without trying too hard.
The drinks were also great. I ordered one of their house cocktails with sake & peach (I wish I remembered the name), & it was perfectly done, smooth, slightly sweet, super refreshing, & not overpowering. Definitely one of those drinks you could have more than one of.
Between the atmosphere, the food, & the drinks, Neotokyo absolutely delivered. If you're looking for a spot that feels unique & memorable while still serving genuinely amazing food, this is it. Will definitely be back.
Tasty snacks & cool drinks. It's just getting too crowded during lunch/dinner. Recommended for a quick casual meal.
We had to wait 1h15min for a table, but they told us right away it would be between 1-1.5 hours. Left my number, went for a walk, & got the callback exactly on time-no complaints for a trendy Saturday night.
Once inside, you're completely immersed in Neotokyo's cyberpunk ramen world. Neon signs, a retro phone booth, even the graffiti in the bathroom-every detail is perfect. It's hands-down the coolest restaurant design I've ever seen.
Service was fast considering it was a full house-order taken in about 10 minutes, ramen & sides out in 16. Prices are really fair: $110 for 2 mains, 2 sides, & 2 drinks. Everything was flavorful & delicious.
Easily my new favorite ramen spot in Montreal.
Food was really good! We took 6 side dishes for two & it was enough food. Ambiance is good, decor is really cool. It is more of a family friendly place, rather than a date night/ pre drink restaurant.
Very nice atmosphere in the dining place, giving the Japanese cyberpunk vibes. It's also a nice to hangout for a drink or two with friends. I have been here during lunch hours & it's crowded with a long queue. However, when I come after 8:30pm, I can straight walk in & have a seat without waiting.
The ambience of this place is great! It gives off a cyberpunk/stray vibe. Service was very good too. Food took a little too long but the server was very attentive. As for the food, my partner & I ordered the mazemen & the tonkotsu ramen...first few bites we were amazed by the flavour! But after a few more bites it gets old. Overall both dishes were too salty. The menu is small & doesnt offer much variety for food (yes for drinks). Not a kid-friendly place (nor picky-eater-friendly). It's also very expensive, $70 for two people, 2 ramens, 1 non-alcoholic drink & 15% tip.
On a saturday night we were informed that it would be a 30-40 minute wait which turned out to be almost one hour. When we asked when our turn was coming, the girl working at the reception responded that we were next. Upon waiting for another 10-15 minutes & seeing people being seated before us, we inquired politely again to understand if indeed we were next. The receptionist responded (& I quote word by word):"I cannot know exactly how much of a wait it would be, as I have told you many times before. The table paid their bill but they are still sitting, I don't have the ability to read into the future." My boyfriend & I were mad about how rude she has been treating a customer who's been waiting to sit for almost an hour. Clearly she also needs some math lessons as she was adamant that we had been waiting for 30 minutes to begin with. My boyfriend responded by explaining how much we have been waiting & that we just need to understand how much longer it would take to go to a different restaurant instead. Her response was "stop bothering me so many times". Though my boyfriend tried to respond, she raised her voice in front of all the other customers & started yelling at my boyfriend "shut up". We were completely shocked as to how disrespectful someone can be towards a customer inquiring about wait time. My boyfriend demanded to speak to the manager which she completely ignored so he physically had to make his way to the kitchen. Fortunately, the restaurant has an amazing manager who was very understanding of the situation. He was also very apologetic & offered us drinks after he immediately seated us. He really changed our experience, along with the very lovely waiter who served us. Advice to management: ensure your staff is properly trained if they are not inherently respectful or hire staff who are brought up by learning to be respectful towards other people. Special thanks & shoutout to the manager.
The mezaman was definitely great!!! They were really swamped, we sat at the bar , so we get to see how crazy busy the chef was! Just lost one star because the drink was kinda bit too light.. The karage was really hot & crisp!! The noodles were so so so gooooood, even my wife says yes. & my wife ain't one to like most food Will definitely come back!!
Been over 10 times & every single time the food was stellar. Always extremely delicous, the drinks are all nice & refreshing. Staff is always super cheerful, talkative & respectful. The atmosphere is what attracted me there in the first place. Very cool futuristic japanese style deco couples with good music makes an ambience you could stay in four hours. Gotta arrive early after opening cause the place gets packed quickly around 7pm. I recommend this to anyone who wants great noodles & appetizers.
This was a fantastic find. The retro Tokyo vibes were super cool, from ceiling to the floor to the bathroom everything was on theme. The drinks were very good & the food delicious. We recommend the spicy karaage (which isn't much spicy, tasted like Korean fried chicken) & the tan tan ramen which had a lovely nutty taste.
While the food was undeniably delicious, the overall dining experience left much to be desired. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated, but the wait for basic service was unexpectedly long. It took about 20 minutes just to receive water after being seated. What disappointed us further was observing a group of four seated next to us receiving fast service, despite arriving after us. They even received their meals before us, despite our earlier order. Additionally, when requesting our checks, we had to remind the staff twice. Though our server was doing their best, the overall management of the floor seemed lacking. One instance was when another staff member abruptly interrupted our conversation to announce the kitchen's last call, disregarding our inquiries about a drink. This lack of coordination among staff members negatively impacted our dining experience. While the food is undoubtedly worth revisiting for, improvements in service efficiency & staff coordination are necessary for a truly enjoyable dining experience
The Neotokyo Mazesoba is excellent. Very tasty, & nice combination of textures & flavours. Highly recommended. The tonkotsu ramen is just alright. The broth was a bit bland, so I don't recommend that dish. Drinks were hit & miss. The H2O is refreshing, but the lemon overpowers the other ingredients. The Vista Del Rey is super good if you like minty flavours, but the portion size is way too small. Overall, the drinks aren't good value. I suggest drinking before or after going here, or just ordering a beer if you must. The decor is fun, staff was attentive. Space fills up fast. Not sure I'll return, as the overall value is just alright.
Savoureux & tellement pas cher ❤️ je m'en suis sortie en bas de 50$ avec trois entrées, un repas & un drink. Serveur super qui nous a même fait des suggestions !!
NeoTokyo is a jem. Especially a fan of the Mazesoba & the TanTan Ramen. While they don't take reservations, there are plenty of places in the area to grab a drink while you wait & it's well worth the wait.
Cool looking spot with nice food an drink selection.
The ramen was rich & delicious. A lot of different elements combining to create incredible flavor.
The futuristic decor is very trendy, making it a fun spot for small groups.
Giving 4 stars only because the service was a bit slow, it is always full & they don't take reservations, which is a most in post-covid times, IMO.
