The Chef GaCong treated us to a very memorable 14-course meal, full of fresh ingredients, enticing flavour combinations, & beautiful presentation. Every course had a personal touch that really made the whole experience feel unique. The amount of food was just right, too. The atmosphere was rest & the restaurant has an amazing decor with very noticeable attention to details. We would highly recommend this experience & we can't wait to return to try their dining room menu!
Amazing meal with incredible highlights (the Wagyu & Chutoro pictured, to name two). Great in-house cocktails. Honestly a 5/5 experience other than the exorbitant price all things considered.
There's a very popular Omakase restaurant in Montreal & I always found it a shame that we didn't have more of those experiences. A friend of mine told me about Nama having an Omakase experience & I had to check it out. I'm glad to say that everything about it was fantastic. It's a little more "fusion" then pure Japanese cuisine, but all the meals were great. I highly suggest trying it out if you love trying course style dinner experiences. If you just want a regular dining experience, there's tables & a menu for that as well. A couple of small nitpicks compared to the other Omakase restaurant in MTL: they had us wait before being seated despite us arriving on time, they didn't offer to take our jackets (which can add a little touch of extra service) & they mentioned a cocktail menu, but we never saw/received it. That being said, I want to give a HUGE shoutout to the chef & his team as at the very last minute, I found out that my date was allergic to wheat flour (similar to having to avoid gluten, but she was ok with soya sauce for instance) & initially the waiter said she couldn't get the Omakase & could only eat 2-3 meals in the regular menu. The chef then personally came to our seats to discuss in detail about her allergies & luckily she could take the Omakase thanks to the cuisine substituting 3 dishes just for her. Thank you again Nama for the wonderful dinner & I'll be sure to come back again!
This was an incredibly different culinary experience from your traditional omakase. Chef GaCong made our experience one of a kind. Not only did he present us with fabulous dishes, but his love of what he does was easy to see when he shared his dishes with you. The cocktails, & service from the staff was immaculate. Do yourself a favour & try the yuzu sour! If you're looking for an unforgettable experience, then Nama Omakase is a must!
Excellent restaurant Omakase Une expérience culinaire exceptionnelle!
I had dinner tonight with my family at Nama. We had an amazing experience. First of all, I would like to thank our server. He was phenomenal. We had our kids tonight, who are 5 & 7. Having kids in fancy places can be stressful, but the entire team there was so kind & attentive. Our server was patient & nice. He helped us with the menu & checked in on us. Not only did we have great service, but so did the kids. My son & daughter felt included in our experience. The bartender was great. I had the espresso martini. My drink was strong. My kids had a mocktail. I mentioned the kids' preference, & the bartender made the perfect fruity mocktail. They enjoyed it. The pictures shown are what we ordered tonight. My kids enjoyed the octopus. It wasn't chewy & the sauce that came with it was delicious. The salmon tartare is good but we were most impressed with the tapioca cracker that came with it. The sashimi is nicely cut & fresh. Their soy sauce is salty & doesn't overpower the fish. My favorite is the makis.I love the taste of the maki without too many ingredients or sauces on top. You can taste the protein in each one. We highly recommend the ramen dish. The broth was creamy with a ton of flavor & the noodles were cooked perfectly. The rack of lamb was cooked well & didn't taste gamey. We finished the night with the coconut cake & ice cream. The dessert had a sweet & sour flavor. The green tea cheesecake was also good. Thanks to the team for the experience. We had a wonderful time celebrating my partner's birthday. We will definitely be back for the Omakase experience & more.
The best, & I literally mean THE BEST Omakase experience I've had. Chef GaCong made sure that me & my SF had a memorable anniversary. The twist on each dish really made it one of their own. The attention to detail & the flavor combinations are outstanding. Each dish made us crave for more. It felt like we had to be extra delicate with each piece because they looked like literal art. We want to thank the staff & chef for this beautiful & unique culinary experience. We will be back!
Thanks to chef Gacong for making this experience memorable! The food was absolutely amazing !!
Lovely ambience & service - food was hit or miss. Eggplant katsu & the mushroom noodles dish was fantastic, would skip the beef short ribs next time as the meat was extremely fatty & not altogether too flavorful. Signature cocktails, service, & overall vibe were excellent.
Amazing food, great service & beautiful ambiance. Our chef for the night was Max & he was great, explained all services with details.
We had the privilege of celebrating our intimate wedding at Nama Omakase with 23 of our closest family members, & it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked in, everything flowed perfectly-the food, the vibe, the service, the drinks-it was all exceptional. Chef GaCong & the team really made the day special, adapting quickly & gracefully to some last-minute changes, which we deeply appreciated. The attention to detail was evident in every dish, & the atmosphere was exactly what we needed to close out such a special day. We will cherish these memories forever, & we can't thank Nama Omakase enough for being such a big part of it.
Amazing food, beautiful ambience & fantastic service. Our waiter Killian was very attentive & personable. It was the highlight of our trip to Montreal
Unique menu with many surprises. Next level culinary experience. Omakase tasting menu is a must try!
the flavour pairings were amazing. the egg yolk gel & tuna pairing in the monaka wafer were such simple, classic flavours elevated into something beautiful & complex. the dry aged fish & the aged soy sauce used in some dishes are a beautiful twist. the rice is warm, sticky & full of flavour, i deeply enjoyed it. the botan ebi is rare & always a pleasure to have. they pair it with this in house chili crisp that has TONS of flavour. the wagyu & brioche dish was the least memorable. it was good, but it cant compete with the sushi courses. two extremely stand out dishes would be the sweet, salty, sour dish of tomato sorbet as a palette cleaner & also the dessert of ice cream made of sake kasu. service was rlly good. the whole place is very beautiful inside
Effervescent energy for my Omakase sushi experience by chef GaCong. Very intimate experience at the bar, amazing service with a smile from the host, waiter & chef. Superb selection of fish, great pacing & the Japanese & French fusion produce an elevated experience. My stand out dishes were the salmon tartare, akami with Osetra caviar, Suzuki, monads & the sake kasu dessert is a unique experience. It was distinguished experience meeting the team & the chefs, even got to meet executive chef Michael Ho!
