Guests frequently praise the restaurant for its vibrant, dual-concept layout, which features both a lively brasserie and a more formal dining room, each providing delicious, well-executed dishes crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Many diners highlight the warm and knowledgeable staff who contribute to a welcoming and memorable visit, making it a top choice for special occasions, business meetings, or a sophisticated night out. Overall, visitors appreciate the restaurant's consistency and its ability to deliver a polished, world-class culinary journey that keeps patrons returning time and again.

My boyfriend & I came here for dinner while visiting Montreal. The service was warm & friendly, the food was absolutely delicious, & the prices were very reasonable!

For food normies, this will blow your mind (me). Foodies may find fault in some of the dishes, but those will not ruin your experience (friends I was with).
The service is a varied with each staff member having their own flair, some warm & friendly, others with dry French-Canadian humour.
The interior design is very nice & the music selection was a broad chill mix ranging from salsa to funk & disco.

The front of house was immediately off-putting. We were greeted by an unfriendly host who immediately put his finger up to answer the phone. We were led to our table with a single command'follow'. Our waitress was nice but the food was'meh' at best.

The tuna tartare was overly marinated in soy & sesame, hiding any freshness of the fish. The ravioli was hard & thick-I believe the dough was over-kneaded, not having the attractive bite of firmness of al dente more cardboard-like. The black cod was so seasoned & salty that I found it impossible to eat. The waitress noticed & graciously took it off the tab.

While we were there we heard the maître d' be rude to at least two tables. Many of the diners were tourists (as we were), there was an overall feeling of superiority from the staff which made the mediocre food even less palatable. We understood that there was some confusion about the two menus, one from the more casual brasserie side & one from the more formal salon (where we sat) but this was not nicely explained to the diners but the maître d' more scolded & scoffed at them. The groups we saw this happening to were tourists. For a restaurant that seems to be keeping busy from the amount of visitors from foreign counties, I would hope that the staff would have a different attitude than the one we saw on full display Saturday evening.

It was my least favorite night out in Montreal & though it was the evening of my 56th Birthday, it felt the opposite of celebratory. I would not recommend going as there are so many wonderful restaurants in the city where the food is inventive & delicious & having an assortment of foams under each protein doesn't make negative attitudes acceptable.

On Aug 14, service was not particularly good. It's a chaos arranging tables. Dish missing & need to follow up as well. Portion was small. Beef bone marrow was particularly terrible, taste was not good & not much you can eat as well. Was told birthday will receive a free cake but was charged. Even like that we tipped 15%, however we saw the server roll eyes & shrugs his shoulder. This is utterly disrespectful & is the worst part.

An absolute standout dining experience from start to finish! We kicked things off with drinks, & the cocktails were completely delicious-highlighted by the Pistache cocktail, which featured a clever & charming butterfly monarch ice touch that made for a really nice visual detail.

For appetizers, we shared the life-changing gem lettuce salad (featuring figs, coppa, & rich layers of cheese & pistachios). It was a masterclass in texture & flavor, offering a brilliant balance of sweet & savory notes. Moving on to the mains, the seafood saffron bouillabaisse was wonderful & deeply flavorful, though I did wish there were a bit more of each type of seafood included to make sharing easier across the table. Meanwhile, the ribeye steak was a total triumph-delightful, tender, & cooked to absolute perfection. Paired with the exceptional French fries & their accompanying dips, it was a dream combination. Pro tip: definitely suggest adding the chimichurri sauce to elevate your steak even further.

Between the incredible food, the creative drinks, & the standout pistachio flavors of the night, this place easily won us over. We will definitely be back!

We celebrated my birthday dinner at Monarque during our trip to Montréal, & although the evening didn't go exactly as planned, the incredible hospitality made it memorable.

The service was on top of everything. Our waitress was being attentive & gave us great wine recommendation. We loved the appetizers, & Monarque also has an excellent wine list. The main courses were good, although the appetizers were definitely the highlight for us.

A very special thank-you to Oliver. We had traveled from New York with our baby, who unfortunately had a difficult evening & cried quite a bit, so we had to leave early & take our dessert to go. His kindness, attentiveness, & genuine hospitality turned the evening around. His thoughtful gestures meant so much to us & made the birthday dinner feel special despite everything.

Thank you for taking such good care of us, what a great team. The level of attentiveness genuinely surprised us. We would absolutely come back, hopefully next time with a happier baby!

I visited each of last three years & twice on this trip. The Brasserie is great (5 star)but I likely will not return to the Salle a Manger side (more like 3 star). Half full & we got a bad table against the window looking into the street. 20 year old wine not decanted. Portions smaller than last time (one lamb chop for >$50?).

I went there without a reservation. The place was quite busy in the evening on a weekday. I sat on the bar as this was the only available spot. The duck confit was exquisite, so soft & juicy. Cheese was served with a delicious walnut bread. The service was quite & very friendly. Highly recommend this place.

Absolutely amazing dinner at Monarque. We went to the'salle'(not the brasserie) for the 3-course dinner. It was fantastic. Each plates was better than the other. Foie gras was culinary textbook grade. The sweetbreads were the best I ever had. Period.
My son got the lobster tartelette which was very refreshing yet tasty. His poached (?) cod was amazing. We're still questioning how you can get such a perfect texture.
Finally the cote de boeuf to share was 1- large enough for 2. Really. 2- perfectly cooked. We ask first blue, but were advised to get rare. Which after the waiter's told us'it's more French rare than American rare' just made sense;-).
Honestly one of my best dinner experiences.
