About

Mon Lapin emphasizes a seasonally focused menu centered on fresh seafood and locally sourced ingredients prepared with technical precision. The culinary approach highlights natural flavors through refined, modern interpretations of regional bistro traditions. Produce is sourced directly from independent growers, ensuring that every plate reflects the current harvest with absolute clarity. The interior design favors an understated aesthetic that prioritizes social interaction and unadorned architectural honesty. Beverage selections are curated to complement the acidity and texture of the fish-forward menu items throughout the year. Patrons encounter a distinct commitment to ingredient transparency and sustainable sourcing practices within a communal, lively atmosphere. This establishment consistently delivers a focused culinary experience that prioritizes the integrity of raw components over complex, multi-layered preparation techniques.

Review Summary

Mon Lapin is widely celebrated as a standout dining destination in Montreal, often lauded for its warm, unpretentious atmosphere and exceptional hospitality. Many guests highlight the creative, seasonal menu, specifically noting the scallop sandwich and various pasta dishes as memorable highlights, while also praising the extensive and thoughtfully curated wine list. While the restaurant frequently lives up to its prestigious accolades, experiences can vary; some patrons find the small plates pricey or the flavors polarizing, and others have noted that the intimate, bustling seating can feel crowded. Overall, the service is consistently recognized as knowledgeable and attentive, contributing to a vibrant, social experience that makes many visitors eager to return.

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Excellent food. Excellent wine. I appreciated how the server brought bottles of wine over to the table to help us choose a glass. She also paired them perfectly with the food ordered. Definitely order the leeks & chicken!

We ate here on May 15 & a waiter spilled rhubarb juice on my partner but didn't seem apologetic. It was very strange?? He justified it by saying it's just juice with rhubarb in it but there was also butter & it was literally another table's finished dish! The other service staff were friendly but this was a strange encounter.

Incredible meal tonight, really an amazing, creative experience. We handed the menus back to our waiter & put everything in his capable hands. He brought out & explained three unique wine options helping us pick a fantastic Bourgogne. Each course brought fresh & wild combinations of flavors, from entrees to desserts.

Could not have loved this place anymore. Food & service were all on point. Reasonable prices. Great wine recommendations. Buzzy atmosphere. Was all fabulous. Not a single bad thing to say about it. Thank you for fitting us in last minute.

Juste bravo.

Vin Mon Lapin completely exceeded every expectation. We (3 people) went on April 15 at 8:15 for my birthday, & from start to finish, everything was outstanding.

The service was exceptional, & Nino made the whole experience even more memorable. He was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, & had such a strong understanding of both the menu & the wine list. What impressed me most was how well he read the table & understood exactly what we needed. He gave thoughtful recommendations, accommodated my shellfish restriction perfectly, & still made sure the other two guests in my party had plenty of amazing options.

The food was honestly incredible. Every dish we ordered was delicious, but our favorites were the scallop toast, the gnudi, & the lamb tartare paired with the strudel. Really, everything we had was amazing.

The ambiance, the service, & the food were all just perfect. It is rare to leave a restaurant genuinely speechless, but that was exactly how I felt. Vin Mon Lapin is hands down one of the best restaurants in Montreal, & I highly recommend it. A must-try.

Fabulous experience. There were two of us & we had the tasting menu. The chef catered it to our requests & included a few things that were not on the menu such as the roasted duck & sausage filled duck hearts.

The seating is pretty intimate & can get a bit loud. Some would say it adds to the ambience.
