1. Bar rayé Miramichi cru, verjus - beurre noisette.
(Raw Miramichi striped bass, verjus - brown butter)
That brown butter is pure gold.
2. Gnudi de ricotta, bisque, épinards de mer (Ricotta gnudi, bisque, sea spinach)
3. Canard, broccolini - fraise épicée (Duck with broccolini & spiced strawberry)
That strawberry harissa sauce is beyond words...
4. Asperges super vertes, morilles au gras de boeuf (Super green asparagus with morel mushrooms cooked in beef fat)
It was all excellent. Portions are small but quality is there.
Very bold flavors. Incomprehensible that Mon Lapin didn't get a Michelin star when Europea got one.
Belle ambiance & bon service
Mon Lapin is an amazing restaurant. Every dish & glass of wine were top notch & different than anything I have had anywhere else.
It's hard not to give this small, unpretentious gem five stars. First of all, you will not find a more hospitable restaurant anywhere in the world. I mean that. This is a down-to-earth, casual, cozy bistro. Positive energy abounds. The question I have is why it's rated by some pubs as the best restaurant in Canada & fifth best in North America by the NY Times. It's not that it's undeserving of accolades, but it may or not be the best restaurant in Montreal. One could argue. Enjoyed both pastas, chicken liver mousse with radishes & fried chicken, & asparagus salad. The halibut was the only disappointment. It was a bit bland & the sauce failed to elevate it. I'll definitely return on my next visit to Montreal.
I chose Mon Lapin for my birthday dinner, & it did not disappoint. The entire experience was outstanding - service, food, & ambiance. ROSE specifically deserves a special shout out. She is incredibly knowledgeable about the foods & wines, full of fun energy, gracious, & hospitable to the point of wishing me a happy birthday numerous times. Such a vibey individual, & an excellent mixologist. Everyone I interacted with made me feel welcome to the point I stayed for three hours to immerse myself in the experience. The food is fresh, organic, & satisfying without making one feel stuffed. Definitely farm / coast to table. The razor clams with spicy breadcrumbs, barbecue cucumbers with raw baby shrimp, pasta tossed with shredded cod & zucchini, & the halibut with nettle pesto were all fantastic. The ice cream sandwich was the perfect dessert portion. The wines are natural & delicious. The gin cocktail - fantastic. Even the owner is present & engaged - conversing with patrons behind the bar, throughout the floor, checking in with her servers - the staff is 10/10! Warm, inviting, thoughtful, & they seem to truly enjoy working together. Mon Lapin certainly lives up to its hype, & I highly recommend it!
I cannot say enough about this place. We sat at the counter & had the best service we've had in a long time. Rose was exceeding helpful & very generous with her time & recommendations. She carefully selected the best items for our meal & we really enjoyed my husband's birthday celebration.
I'm sure the rest of the menu is phenomenal but the dishes loved the best were the crudo & the lobster. & I'm not even a big dessert person OR a coffee drinker but the chocolate tart with whipped coffee butter on top was outstanding.
We will definitely be back.
Friendly, efficient service. Got the tasting menu & it was a great selection. Wine suggestion worked well. Cocktails were alright. The suggested aperitifs were great. Nice decor.
Since dining here once in 2022, the ambiance, feel, & quality of the dishes are still exceptional but even more memorable!
Past desserts, including the classic Gateau Sarassin, were enjoyable & have always been part of the menu - while seasonal dishes like the half lobster dish with buckwheat sauce, accompanied by rhubarbs, & perfect rectangular chunks of fried potato intricately layered together into a whole were new, refreshing, & made the experience special!
The white-painted timber roofs, walls, decor &, playful illustrations & installations highlighting the infamous rabbit the restaurant has named itself, all helped to create a whimsical, magical, & warm ambiance that makes me want to dine here .
Grateful to have enjoyed a meal on the first Friday of June, & look forward to seeing how this restaurant continues to grow & become even more exceptional!
Great food, wine & friendly service. The surprise menu was tasty, impressive presentation with detailed description, & nice wine pairing.
