My second visit. The first was 5 stars. The food was incredible, the service was impeccable. I booked through Resy & had a great time. Tonight was a different story. Had no reservation, walked in & sat on the terrace. Lovely beginning. Our Initial server was warm & friendly. I had a apériodique spritz & my daughter, a minor, had a lemonade. We started with carpaccio & staciatella . Our first server was busy inside, which is fine but our second server was abrupt & rude. Asked if we wanted another round of drinks & I asked for a spritz, she returned & told me no. That they don't make those at this establishment like I had asked for something terrible. Made me feel like I should be embarrassed. The food runner brought out our food. Our server did not check in with us. The tables close to us she did speak to & check in on. She would look at us & then walk away. Our plates sat in front of us for a very long time. We Ordered the cassarecce with sausage & the Campanelle with lobster bisque & cherry tomatoes. There was absolutely no lobster in the pasta & barely even a scent of it in the bisque. Ridiculous for $37 dollars. I asked if we could have it wrapped up & she said she would put them in the same box. The same box. Sausage pasta &....I said please in separate boxes. I asked for the dessert menu, she slapped it down. We decided no dessert based on the vibe & I asked for the bill. She asked if it was separate bills, I was with my daughter, a child. I said no one bill thank you. When she came back I asked if it was rude to have ordered a spritz & she went on about how I could have had an aperol or a limoncello spritz. Then she stood over me with the machine. It was overall an unpleasant experience. I will never go back
My favourite meal in Montreal probably came on my last night. During my pre-trip research, Restaurant Moccione had come up a few times as one of the better restaurants in the city -- an unassuming spot in the PM's riding of Papineau. A bit of a subway trip from downtown, but I thought I would give it a try. I'm glad I did. It's a small spot in a quiet neighborhood, tucked into a corner, but a cozy spot with an impressive walk-in wine cellar. I wish I had come slightly hungrier, as the menu looked all good, but I did have smoked meat earlier in the day. So I decided to not go crazy & order a nice pasta dish: Agnolotti stuffed with beef, mushrooms, jus de viande, parmigiano. It was truly excellent. Every bite rich & flavourful. The pasta cooked perfectly, the mushrooms delish, the meaty sauce rich & flavourful, the parm a nice bit of salt to complement. & it was the perfect size for my limited appetite. I don't often order pasta when dining out, but pasta done right is a real treat & this hit the spot.
Amazing restaurant. Slight modern take on italian food but still very traditional (full of flavour eith amazing ingredients). Calamari for starters were amazing (not fried!!) & rafu sausage pasta had nice little heat touch. Finally the beef & octopus were both beatifully executed & full of flavour. The mushrooms in the beef dish were something else. Beautiful decor & amazing service. Will go again.
Great restaurant! Service was very attentive, friendly & efficient. The food was of high quality & absolutely delicious from start to finish. Both pasta dishes we had were so good & not at all oily or salty as opposed to many other restaurants. To my surprise the calamari was my favourite dish of the night! They were fresh, perfectly cooked & the tomato sauce that came with it just really tied the whole dish together. Cocktails were also impressive & our waitress made great wine recommendations. Overall a great experience & worth the splurge. Would definitely recommend.

Fabulous experience at Moccione. From the moment we sat down the service was excellent & lots of interesting wines to try by the glass.
Starting with entrees of arancini, calamari in arabiata sauce & zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta was awesome. Pasta dish after was better than any we had in Italy. & finally the grilled octopus was to die for. Cannoli were a superb ending!
All in all an excellent evening & we will definitely be back soon.
This place was soooooo good. I was skeptical because I had just arrived from Italy & doubted the food would be as good. Boy was I surprised. The Negroni sbagliato was done to perfection, the meat was amazing, the pasta was fabulous, the veal ragú was delicious & the stracciatella with tomatoes & basil was a dream. I would definitely come back here, no wonder this place has such amazing reviews.
The hostess was incredibly nice & she even spoke some Spanish with us! Try this place out for a romantic dinner, you will blow your partner's socks off!
