Travelling from Vancouver & we were recommended both Mati & another high end Greek restaurant. I'm so glad we settled on Mati. This was our most favourite evening of our stay in Old Montreal. Almost everything on the menu is or can be gluten free. Our server, Charlotte, was fabulous as were the support staff, all of whom joined to sing Happy Birthday to our guest of honour. Having been to Greece, you would think you're in an authentic Greek restaurant with an energetic atmosphere & cool Greek vibe. Get the crudo, get the octopus, get the watermelon salad.
10/10 across the board. Can't say enough good things about this place, i was happy enough already with the experience to begin with. But our server, Charlotte & (manager?) Adrian continued to exceed expectations at every turn.

The lamb was the best I've ever had - tender, flavorful, & cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was amazing, with a great vibe that made the whole experience even better. The bartender, Felix, was friendly & skilled, making excellent drinks, & the chef Arash, truly delivered an unforgettable meal. Everything from the food to the service was top tier. I highly recommend the octopus as an appetizer.
Super cozy & warm place. The Braised lamb neck was so delicious & the sauce really elevated the perfectly cooked lamb & took it to another level. The Octopus also tasted good with a subtle touch of acid in the sauce. We also liked the watermelon salad, mainly the combination of feta & a slightly creamy texture with fresh & cold watermelons, but it wasn't that special & given the price you may consider sth else. But given that its refreshing it could be interesting as an apetizer.
They have a really nice bar & you can seat at the bar seats. I liked the experience & the bartender (I guess Felix) was a super chill & talented guy. I took a martini cocktail which I liked but it really depends on your taste.
Notes: There are some items that you can share (such as the lamb neck that we took). But don't expect a very large portion (:
We walked by & decided to have a spontaneous lunch here. Everything from the atmosphere to the service to the food was absolutely phenomenal. Highly recommend the grilled octopus, Greek salad & shrimp saganaki. Kudos to Adrian & the staff for making this random lunch a special one.
Taverne Grecque Mati was an absolute highlight of our time in Old Montreal. From the moment we walked in, the ambience was warm, elegant, & inviting - the perfect balance of upscale & cozy Mediterranean charm.
The food was exceptional. Every dish was fresh, beautifully prepared, & bursting with authentic Greek flavour. You can truly taste the quality of the ingredients & the care that goes into the menu. From the appetizers to the mains, everything was memorable & perfectly seasoned.
If you're looking for incredible Greek food & a beautiful atmosphere in Old Montreal, Taverne Grecque Mati is a must-visit. We can't wait to return!
Excellent Greek food with fresh ingredients & very good service. Good selection of Greek wines. Lovely place to sit with high ceilings. Quite pricey but really enjoyed our evening.

A beautiful restaurant with incredible food in the middle of old Montreal . A very warm dining room with incredible service. The poo chops (not even their house specialty ) was off the charts
Probably one of my favourite medium priced restaurants in Montreal. Food is tasty & authentic. Charlotte looked after us & was super friendly & efficient
Felix was an amazing host He was very attentive, friendly & knowledgable about the food & wine selections which led to a delicious meal & unforgerable experience. Their Greek wines are outstanding which Felix was intimately familiar wih since he orders them. i'm Greek & this is the best Greek restaurant I have ever eaten at inclusing thosebin Greece. A must visit.

Excellent service -- warm, friendly waiting staff & great ambiance. Highly recommend the beet salad (seasonal) & greek sausages. Good selection of Greek wines, too.
