Maison Sai Yan est perçue comme une adresse de cuisine chinoise authentique et savoureuse, avec une carte variée et des plats généreux qui mettent en valeur des saveurs franches et des produits frais, notamment des fruits de mer et des plats cantonais et sichuanais. Le cadre est intime et cosy mais petit et parfois daté, ce qui n'empêche pas les convives de trouver l'endroit chaleureux et convivial. Le rapport qualité-prix suscite des avis partagés: certains estiment que la cuisine justifie le tarif et repartent satisfaits sans se ruiner, tandis que d'autres trouvent les portions modestes et les prix élevés. Le service est généralement sympathique et efficace mais peut être lent aux heures d'affluence et a parfois été jugé moins attentif. Les avis convergent sur la qualité des saveurs et l'authenticité des plats, avec des suggestions d'essayer les plats spéciaux et de profiter d'une cuisine réconfortante sur la rive sud, à Brossard.
Small & old, needs some updating, food is good one of the better places in the south shore...not the best but for price & quality, I have no complaints.

Good food, decent service but it's on the pricier side. You compare the price at the menu section to their price 2 years ago & they have made really big jump in prices but I am not sure if they have mde big jumps in quality & quantity of the food.
I will say it again, it's good Chinese meal, but a plate of fried rice is 18-25$ plus tax? A steamed oyster (picture attached) is 12$!
On the plus side, they have a very wide selection of dishes & fresh seafood.
Restaurant offers a menu which is good value. However, the servers often try to upsell by suggesting alternatives to what you intended to order. These may be a similar dish which may not be on the menu but the servers do no tell you that their suggestion is multiple times the price of the original order. You feel scammed when paying. I will no longer be patronizing this restaurant.
All the dishes taste okay, but they are a bit on the salty side. The flavors are not as good as what the Google reviews suggest. Probably because there are not many great Cantonese restaurants in Montreal, this place can still survive here. However, if this restaurant were to open in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area, I think it would struggle to stay in business due to the high competition in the Cantonese restaurant scene in Ontario. The prices here are also relatively high compared to other restaurants. The service is not very good, to be honest. The waitress was quite pushy in recommending seafood dishes, even though we had already said two or three times that we were not ready or weren't interested at the moment. She still insisted on pushing the dishes she wanted us to order. While I do see that this restaurant has quite a few customers, I personally wouldn't come back again, especially since it's quite far from downtown. If I lived nearby, maybe I would, but I wouldn't recommend it as highly as the Google reviews do.
Excellent very flavourful Chinese food in a neat, calm & intimate/small location. Waitresses have great enthusiasm in helping us choose our food & are helpful throughout our meal. They do have baby/toddler chairs which makes this place family friendly. Yes it's true that they omit to mention price of some suggestions which could lead to some bad surprises as mentionned in some reviews. It would be nice if they improved on that. Overall, it's a nice alternative to the noisy & very busy large Chinese restaurants.

Came here on a very busy Sunday. We reserved to make sure we had seats, so I highly recommend reserving. Food is very good, but I wouldn't always come back as I live very far. This is my third experience this year.
This restaurant based on taste itself would've been 5 stars. Read below if you want to know why I removed so many stars:
My gripe is the high price point & how they treat customers differently.
Other table a foot away from us had free orange slices & had *a discount due to a different payment method* in which I won't explicitly say what it is to protect their business.
Unfair treatment of customers when your restaurant is so small is extremely noticeable. If you do treat certain customers better, try being discreet. Our whole table speak both Cantonese, Mandarin, & three southern dialects so we understood everything.
I felt like ordering in Chinese on a Sunday night. We started with the Chinese shrimp won ton soup & then had the ginger lobster & chicken fried rice. AMAZING. It was reasonably priced (36$ tax in) & delicious! We will definitely order here again. Best in the area.
Another little note of appreciation -
The employee/owner was SUPER friendly on the phone & even delivered the food herself since her delivery guy was gone.
