Bienvenue à la Maison du Jazz Laval, le plus récent joyau de Georges Durst, consacré roi du divertissement au Québec depuis près d’un demi-siècle. Grand collectionneur d’art, il a regroupé des pièces exclusives qui évoquent l’époque glorieuse de certains de ses établissements à succès tels Les Serres du Vieux Montréal, Le Bijou et le Monte Carlo. Depuis 1980, la Maison du Jazz s’est mérité la renommée de ‘Mecque du Jazz’ au Canada puisque les plus grands noms d’ici et d’ailleurs se succèdent sur la scène qui sert aussi de tremplin à la relève.

This was my first time visiting House of Jazz & it was fantastic. I went there for a birthday celebration & we all had a super time. I especially loved the groovy vibes of Michelle Sweeney & her band. Her 3 sets included a melange of all genre of music. She even threw in some Latin beats that got you on your feet. Wow wow wow. Where do I even begin. This is the single best jazz club I've ever had the opportunity to go to. The place is simply fabulous & looks like it's straight out of a movie of some kind. I was greeted by the owner & an employee & they accompanied me to my reservation spot. While we were going to the second floor where u was meant to enjoy my meal, I was able to take a quick glance around me & see a panoply of well decorated spaces with specific lights creating an even more interesting & jazzy atmosphere. I never would've thought a bright gem like that one could have been hiding right there in plain sight. We had originally made a reservation for 9 people & we had requested to be put in a little room. The room will be in the videos & it was gorgeous as well. I had been there before & never even knew that it existed. The staff came regularly to ensure we were all ready to order & just to see if there was anything they could help us with. The food took an average time of 27 minutes to arrive, & I must say that it is extremely impressive that it was done so quickly seeing as we had all ordered different kinds of meals & were still served at around the same time. My meal was well plated & the tastes simply embraced my tongue like a warm & nice hug. They were gentle & agressive, offering a wide array of various sensations & flavours which all complemented one another so perfectly. I was amazed.
One thing that is important to note is the price of your entry. It was 15$ more per person because we had to pay for the band & frankly I'd have paid them much more for how good they played. Then there's also something you must look at. Just make sure you are aware that the price of the shots are marked for individual shots & not for the whole round. One of my friends hadn't picked up on that little subtlety & was quite shocked once the bill arrived. Other than that, excellent everything. I'm super glad I got to be there & enjoy myself with my friends.

I had a pretty good time at this restaurant. The atmosphere was fantastic-very welcoming & had a great vibe. The live band was the highlight of the evening; they played wonderfully & really set the tone for a fun experience.
However, the food didn't live up to expectations. While it wasn't bad, it was definitely just'mid' - nothing to rave about, but also nothing to really complain about. Overall, if you're looking for a good time with great music & a lively atmosphere, it's worth a visit, but don't expect the food to steal the show.Voir plus

The food is not bad, would rate it 3/5 because you won't go there for the amazing food, you should go there for the ambiance, loud live band & outstanding decor. Very disappointed with my experience. Went on the friday night to listen to good jazz music but country was playing & once the jazz band was supposed to come in, they had technical issue that took them 1h to fix... Had hair in my dessert & definitely not worth it to pay 10$/pers to hear no one play. Service was extremely slow, i had to ask for the dessert card, the bill, the machine to pay & etc. Definitely not the kind of service you expect when you spend more than 100$/pers.Voir plus

First time going to a restaurant with a live band that eventually turned into a food & dance evening. 😏 Five stars for everything; the atmosphere, the service, the voice of J-C Germain, the rib eye steak cooked to perfection & the dancefloor at the end of the evening. If you are in Laval looking a good time with friends, you can't go wrong with The House of Jazz. Venue: Beautifully decorated place with live entertainment, while eating a a delicious meal. It gives that New Orleans vibe. Service: Waiter was polite, very attentive & took the time to explain each dish in detail. Well done! Took a little long to receive the meals but the entertainment keeps you too busy to notice. Food: Our table had the waygu dumplings, the were very good crispy on the outside & tender inside. For the main course our table had; beef cheek (super yummy), the tuna (very good) & filet mignon (good). Cost: Overall prices were very reasonable. Starter run at about $15-$25. Main course, $25-$50. Keep in mind there is a $10 charge for 2nd floor seating or $15 for 1st floor seating charge per person for the entertainment which is totally worth it, band was awesome! Conclusion: So instead of going to a simple, ordinary restaurant outing... Jazz it up a little! Fully recommend The House of JazzVoir plus
Great place for a date night. The food is really good, the atmosphere is nice too & the service is excellent. We had the melting brie, the charcuterie board to share. I had the ribs with mashed potatoes instead of fries. He had the filet mignon with fries. All the food was really good. Our drinks were good too. The live band playing really adds to the whole experience (just letting you know they add a 15$ fee per person for the live band). I've been there a few times & I've always enjoyed my time there. I would recommend it for a romantic date night or even to celebrate your birthday with a small group of friends.Voir plus

via LibroOverall experience was great. Im not one to complain easily but even though there was alot of customers(groups), i wish we had better service. We had to ask more then once for things & waited too long. Server still got a great tip. We will be returning. The decoration , the atmosphere, the bands, the food was very nice.

What the fantastic evening with spectacle at the House of Jazz in Laval. Dano Peace & The Upwright Jazz Band were fantastic!!!! The food was exceptional & the service wonderful. The food was expensive but we are not going every day & the food is worth the price. We spent our 40th wedding anniversary with wonderful people in a wonderful restaurant with great music & very good food. In short, an unforgettable evening. Thanks Elzbieta

The food & decor were fantastic. Waiters were very attentive.
The music was WAY TOO LOUD. To the point my Apple Watch was even giving me warning of potential permanent hearing loss. We had to yell in each other's ears to converse. Which, in the end, ruined the experience.
The band was mediocre at best. The music was NOT jazz even though the singer was pushing he was doing jazz. His voice was not appropriate for the type of songs they were doing either .
We were very disappointed in the experience & left with a pounding headache.
