I really enjoyed my experience at Maison Boulud. The staff was very helpful & friendly. The food was perfectly prepared albeit the main ourselves was a tad underseasoned. The bison carpaccio made for a great start. The black garlic mayonnaise complimented it very well without overwhelming the meat. The fish was also delicios but the shrimp bisque sauce lacked that special taste that bisque sauces have. Both desserts that I tried were perfect but the German chocolate cake has more creme that cake. The molten lava cake definitely made up for everything. It seems pedestrian, however, the caramel twist made it very special. The mini-madeleines capped the evening excellently. The wines recommended by Julienne (a wonderful host) made for an experience that I'll repeat again.
I forgot about the foccacia bread; to die for!
& my second dessert, Chocolat Coulant Cake Caramel French Sea Salt Caramelized Milk.
I would recommend being cautious with this restaurant. We tried the buffet & noticed mold on the blackberries & a fly in the honey. We informed the staff because the buffet area did not appear to be closely monitored.
The à la carte menu was also very limited, & overall the food felt overpriced for the quality. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we would not return.
It was an extremely lovely experience with exceptional service. I appreciated very much the recommendation of wines & drinks, the knowledge of the waiter in explaining to us the dishes, & the excellent quality of the meal. The quebec lamb melted in my mouth despite being cooked to the recommended medium level, & my wife thoroughly enjoyed her veal. The dessert was also decadent, & ended our evening very nicely. The anniversary surprise was also a super nice touch!
I went 4 months ago a first time & was very satisfied although not mesmerized by the veinoiseries. This time around though, they were really good! From the vienoiseries basket to the mimozas & course meals, everything was spot on. The service was also amazing, for a 15 minute wait due to a large group between starters & main, our waitress very kindly comped us the drinks & vienoiseries basket.
Definitely recommend!
We really enjoyed the brunch menu here. What we appreciated most was how beautifully each component was executed. The techniques were handled with precision & restraint, yet the complexity still came through in every element of the dish. Nothing felt loud or flashy; instead, there was a quiet refinement achieved through thoughtful balance & depth of flavour, along with a pleasing interplay of textures that unfolded as you continued to savour each bite. It felt like a well-judged balance between French classics & contemporary reinterpretation.
We ordered the Garlic Gratiné Snails (Escargot), Salmon Tartare, Pulled Pork Sandwich, Icelandic Cod, & the Chocolate Entremet Cake. The Escargot & Icelandic Cod were well executed. The chocolate cake was a real highlight & easily one of the best desserts we have had in a while. The ambience was cozy yet elegant, which complemented the food beautifully. We would highly recommend this place.
