Review Summary

Lucille's Au Marché is described as part of a vibrant market scene where fresh local foods, cheeses, meats, breads and prepared items are readily available in a beautiful historic building and in outdoor stalls by the canal; the atmosphere is lively and welcoming, with many vendors offering high quality products and seasonal events, and visitors enjoy shopping for ingredients, discovering new flavors, sampling treats, and pairing the experience with a meal or a picnic by the water; the market can get busy on weekends, prices can be higher than regular grocery stores, and parking or layout can be challenging, but overall it comes across as a must visit Montreal experience with great variety, quality and a true local vibe.

A very nice Farmer's market.

Atwater Market takes its name from the avenue bordering it, which in turn was named after Edwin Atwater, a 19th century businessman & city councillor. The market has been in operation since 1933, & its Art Deco-style architecture places it among the most beautiful buildings in the city.🏨☝?

Good spot for every season! Love it love it! For summer, I suggest you bike there, buy a few things in the market & do a picnic near the water 🥹

I am seduced at the moment by people reading previous reviews of mine so I put forward one more.

Visually the Marche Atwater is a kaleidoscope of stalls of fresh fruit & vegetables, flowers, character vendors of Quebec agriculture, food novelties, homemade initiatives, meat cuts of artisan design, sophisticated cheeses for every pallet of wine, a Quebec icon bakery & a mini Marche of foodie restos that bring forth Montreal's daytime joie de vivre where picnic table style eating is hugely popular with both people watchers & wasps trying to get in on the exotic food smells.

The Atwater Market is a landmark of Montreal culture & a gateway to the Lachine Canal where every mode of movement except cars is present & where the gentrification of both sides of the canal represents a positive visual development in our history.

Prices at the Atwater market are not cheap. I buy my coffee & Epicurean gifts there but am guilty of wandering to the nearby Super C for specials & the occasional consumable when I can't get to Costco.

Marche Atwater is a seasonal experience. In the moment the spirit of Christmas greets the dampness & sometimes sunny cold of this November.
Gone is the hullabaloo of the good summer food court. The smell of pine is a degustation by itself

summer is coming & the foodie site is quickly being reassembled for another year of tummy favorites & eye balling

Stopped by Atwater Market on a Tuesday evening looking for good light for some shots, & honestly the place itself ended up being the real subject. The warm glow coming through the tall windows hit the produce stalls perfectly around 6pm, & I spent way more time there than planned. Grabbed a wedge of aged cheddar from one of the cheese vendors near the back & it was genuinely one of the better things I've eaten this year. If you haven't been on a weeknight when it's quieter, you're missing a completely different & more relaxed version of this place.

First stop coming into Montreal & we were looking for a bite to eat.

The market offers fresh food & meals ready to go- there are multiple meat vendors, fruit & vegetable stalls, pasta (fresh pasta & to go meals) & a boulangerie/bakery that had lots of delicious bread & baked goods.

Inside & outdoor seating available.

Highly recommend!

Atwater Market is my favorite place to shop for food in Montreal. Yeah, it's a bit pricey, but honestly the quality & selection make it worth it. So many great options, & everything just feels well curated. Hot tip; get to know the vendors, they always have the best recommendations.

Very nice, lots of choice that are not in supermarkets. But its prices are higher than the Jean Talon market. So I didn't buy much.

A great place to explore, especially if you enjoy fresh food & a lively market atmosphere. Marché Atwater has a really nice mix of local vendors, produce, baked goods, & specialty items, all in a beautiful historic building.

The quality of the products is excellent, & you can tell a lot of the vendors take pride in what they offer. It's a perfect spot to pick up fresh ingredients or just walk around & discover something new. The outdoor stalls in warmer months add even more charm to the experience.

It can get quite busy, especially on weekends, which makes it a bit harder to move around comfortably. Prices can also be slightly higher compared to regular grocery stores, depending on what you're buying.

Overall, it's a must-visit market in Montreal with great selection & atmosphere, just best enjoyed outside of peak hours if possible.

This is a market to see. Great delights fresh & cooked. The market also runs various events throughout the year. If you travel like us you might get lucky & catch one.

Cute market by the water in Montreal. I lived near the place for a few months & went there for fresh food. The bakery has really good, soft bread. I have gone to the flower shop, the meat shop & the ice cream shop. Amazing in the summer. & it is close to the canal so you can do a lot of activities. There are many plant shops outside which make me feel good. The meat shops inside are expensive so be careful.

I get all my groceries from here. Once a week. Fresh eggs, bacon, other meat & veggies. Makes me feel good & eat healthy food everyday. Simple & tasty. I also like to try new things so I pick one new ingredient every week & this market has so many options I am always happy with the result. I just walk around & pick whatever I want. Then I make good food with it for me & my family.

Small upscale market in the West end of the city. Good selection, but pricey, compared to Jean Talon market.

I love atwater market. It is almost as good as Jean Talon market. The location is amazing. Right by the canal. So you can get your food & do a picnic right by the water. My favorite place in the market is the chocolate shop/bakery store to the left. It always has a good collection of chocolates & pastries. Last weekend they had an International collection from different countries & I sampled some delicious chocolates from them. So shout out to them!

It is a charming market by the lachine canal. Great place to visit during the summer. I like that there are options to buy fresh produce as well as prepared meals so there is something for everyone. If you go inside, there is a lovely bakery with fresh cakes. The flower & plant shops outside are also great. The only thing that bothers me is the price of fresh produce. It is very expensive. Overall great place & a good alternative to Jean Talon market.

One of my favourite parts about living in Ville Marie is how accessible Marche Atwater is. Great selection of smaller vendors, featuring the farm fresh produce of course. Personally I shop more at the stores in the interior arcade. There are two grocery stores in this market that have amazing selections of products you don't find in larger grocery stores. The butchers & cheese shops are awesome here too. Of course this is an expensive place to do daily shopping but for a few specialty items to treat yourself it's a great destination.
