Only thing i cant find is organic fruits.... but this place has just about everything u need for groceries. Fresh cheese & meats. A deadly bakery & just a good vibe. I come here at least once a week
Beautiful looking produce, plants & flowers outside. Then, very charming stores inside offering meats, pastries, cheeses & wines.
Everything is clean, the merchants are friendly & helpful & the whole building smells wonderful!
Stopped by Atwater Market on a Tuesday evening looking for good light for some shots, & honestly the place itself ended up being the real subject. The warm glow coming through the tall windows hit the produce stalls perfectly around 6pm, & I spent way more time there than planned. Grabbed a wedge of aged cheddar from one of the cheese vendors near the back & it was genuinely one of the better things I've eaten this year. If you haven't been on a weeknight when it's quieter, you're missing a completely different & more relaxed version of this place.
I am seduced at the moment by people reading previous reviews of mine so I put forward one more.
Visually the Marche Atwater is a kaleidoscope of stalls of fresh fruit & vegetables, flowers, character vendors of Quebec agriculture, food novelties, homemade initiatives, meat cuts of artisan design, sophisticated cheeses for every pallet of wine, a Quebec icon bakery & a mini Marche of foodie restos that bring forth Montreal's daytime joie de vivre where picnic table style eating is hugely popular with both people watchers & wasps trying to get in on the exotic food smells.
The Atwater Market is a landmark of Montreal culture & a gateway to the Lachine Canal where every mode of movement except cars is present & where the gentrification of both sides of the canal represents a positive visual development in our history.
Prices at the Atwater market are not cheap. I buy my coffee & Epicurean gifts there but am guilty of wandering to the nearby Super C for specials & the occasional consumable when I can't get to Costco.
Marche Atwater is a seasonal experience. In the moment the spirit of Christmas greets the dampness & sometimes sunny cold of this November.
Gone is the hullabaloo of the good summer food court. The smell of pine is a degustation by itself
summer is coming & the foodie site is quickly being reassembled for another year of tummy favorites & eye balling
This is a great place to shop for fresh foods of all kinds. Cheese, meat, fish, spices, bread, pastries & so on.
It is all that you can look for.
LOVE ME A MARKET, FRESH FRUITS, FRESH CHEESE, FRESH VEGETABLES, FRESH COFFEE, FRESH MEAT, GREAT COMPANY
One of my favourite parts about living in Ville Marie is how accessible Marche Atwater is. Great selection of smaller vendors, featuring the farm fresh produce of course. Personally I shop more at the stores in the interior arcade. There are two grocery stores in this market that have amazing selections of products you don't find in larger grocery stores. The butchers & cheese shops are awesome here too. Of course this is an expensive place to do daily shopping but for a few specialty items to treat yourself it's a great destination.
Marché Atwater offers an impressive variety of high-quality products all in one place.
The market is known for its fresh fruits & vegetables, artisanal breads, pastries, cheeses, meats, spices, & specialty items from different cultures. Everything is well-organized, clean, & clearly presented, making it easy to explore & enjoy.
You'll find local producers alongside specialty vendors offering olive oils, balsamic vinegars, dried fruits, & gourmet ingredients. The bakery section is especially strong, with fresh bread & pastries baked daily.
It's a reliable place to shop for fresh, seasonal products, quality ingredients, & unique food items, whether for everyday cooking or something more special.
Highly recommend Marché Atwater for groceries, local butchers, boulangerie & a great variety of lunch places! Highly recommend fromagerie Atwater for cheese!
Love going in all seasons for veggies, cheese & bread.
In the summer, the restaurants with the terrace is absolutely worth it except for the amount of people on the weekend.
Vibrant historic farmers market (indoors in the winter). Fabulous selection of merchants offering huge variety of cheese, meat, fruit, baked goods, coffee, flowers & more. Allow 2 hours!
I love the Atwater market. I always checkout La douceur de marche for specialty foods & seasonings & all the veggie & fruit vendors. There is also a great cheese selection in one of the stores. You got everything you could possibly want at this market! Love the colourful vibe here
The market is great. It is great for meats, cheese, specialized products & many other things. The fruits & vegetables are of high quality. There are less people selling fruits & vegetables than other markets but there is a lot of varieties of very good quality.
Perfect to get fresh meat products & cheese. It also has fruits & veggies & some specialities like chocolatier or a shop that sells all kinds of nuts, müesli or flours. & good prices, too. Moreover, there are lots of seasonal products.
Visited here to pick up a picnic for lunch. Loads of options: nuts, cheese, charcuterie, spreads, breads, cakes, fruit, maple products, crackers, cakes, salads, alcohol, soft drinks, crisps & more. Good, fresh quality. Fair pricing, a little expensive here & there. Lots of free tasters & people willing to help. Got a perfect picnic to enjoy
One of the best markets in Montreal for local products & at prices that are reasonable for what they sell & very good friendly service. Lots of choices of Quebec fruits, vegetable, cheeses & other items...
Ahhh...the season is wonderful. Some veggies ahead of schedule due to heat & rain we've had. We bought berries galore, corn, basil for pesto. Had a visit inside to get some needed stuff in bulk. So glad we have this, & more markets in our town. Anytime is a great time to head there...did I mention the cheeses...OMG !!!
Prices are always bad but the produce is good & I love coming here. Such a great market. The cheese shops are my favorite.
High prices. Perfect for rich yuppies. Nearby condo owners with IT salaries can afford it. The rest of us, well. ... ?.
Farm produce seems fresher than in some big chain stores, but pricier.
How many actual farmers are here, as opposed to middlemen renting stalls & THEY buy from the farms?
Recently bot cheese'on sale' there..reduced from $125/kg.!
However I admit. It was part of a package, 3 small cheeses for $18.
Exotic brands. We notuliced all is labelled in French only..in accordance with Quebec's increased efforts to extinguish all traces of English.
