Lucille's Au Marché is described as part of a vibrant market scene where fresh local foods, cheeses, meats, breads and prepared items are readily available in a beautiful historic building and in outdoor stalls by the canal; the atmosphere is lively and welcoming, with many vendors offering high quality products and seasonal events, and visitors enjoy shopping for ingredients, discovering new flavors, sampling treats, and pairing the experience with a meal or a picnic by the water; the market can get busy on weekends, prices can be higher than regular grocery stores, and parking or layout can be challenging, but overall it comes across as a must visit Montreal experience with great variety, quality and a true local vibe.
I am seduced at the moment by people reading previous reviews of mine so I put forward one more.
Visually the Marche Atwater is a kaleidoscope of stalls of fresh fruit & vegetables,flowers, character vendors of Quebec agriculture,food novelties, homemade initiatives,meat cuts of artisan design, sophisticated cheeses for every pallet of wine, a Quebec icon bakery & a mini Marche of foodie restos that bring forth Montreal's daytime joie de vivre where picnic table style eating is hugely popular with both people watchers & wasps trying to get in on the exotic food smells.
The Atwater Market is a landmark of Montreal culture & a gateway to the Lachine Canal where every mode of movement except cars is present & where the gentrification of both sides of the canal represents a positive visual development in our history.
Prices at the Atwater market are not cheap. I buy my coffee & Epicurean gifts there but am guilty of wandering to the nearby Super C for specials & the occasional consumable when I can't get to Costco.
Marche Atwater is a seasonal experience. In the moment the spirit of Christmas greets the dampness & sometimes sunny cold of this November.
Gone is the hullabaloo of the good summer food court. The smell of pine is a degustation by itself
summer is coming & the foodie site is quickly being reassembled for another year of tummy favorites & eye balling
First stop coming into Montreal & we were looking for a bite to eat.
The market offers fresh food & meals ready to go- there are multiple meat vendors, fruit & vegetable stalls, pasta (fresh pasta & to go meals) & a boulangerie/bakery that had lots of delicious bread & baked goods.
Inside & outdoor seating available.

The market is known for its fresh fruits & vegetables, artisanal breads, pastries, cheeses, meats, spices, & specialty items from different cultures. Everything is well-organized, clean, & clearly presented, making it easy to explore & enjoy.
You'll find local producers alongside specialty vendors offering olive oils, balsamic vinegars, dried fruits, & gourmet ingredients. The bakery section is especially strong, with fresh bread & pastries baked daily.
It's a reliable place to shop for fresh, seasonal products, quality ingredients, & unique food items, whether for everyday cooking or something more special.
The market is great. It is great for meats, cheese, specialized products & many other things. The fruits & vegetables are of high quality. There are less people selling fruits & vegetables than other markets but there is a lot of varieties of very good quality.
Plenty of food, fruits, vegetables, boulangeries, fromageries...nice place to get what you need for your home-cooking...or if you don't want to cook too :))

Really nice market. Several vegetable & fruit vendors outside & an abundance of butchers inside. Also a number of bakeries, fine food stores, etc. Several food vendors were doing a brisk business at lunch time. A nice market to pick up something for lunch or dinner.
One can find any type of fresh food there. Lots of specialized food shops. Vegetable market is offering everything fresh. Your wallet needs to be large.
One of the best markets in Montreal for local products & at prices that are reasonable for what they sell & very good friendly service. Lots of choices of Quebec fruits, vegetable, cheeses & other items...

they also got a big variety of local farms products. berries, fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy, fish, sweets.

This market is phenomenal!! The bakery is amazing. The cheese outlet is outstanding. Some of the best & freshest fruit & vegetables anywhere in Montreal.
