Le restaurant L'Orignal a ouvert ses portes l'hiver 2008 afin d'accueillir touriste et montréalais. Dans un décor de chalet, nous vous emporterons loin de la ville tout en étant au coeur du Vieux-Montréal. Notre cuisine est constituée de repas campagnards avec une touche moderne. Possédant une variété de cocktails et une compilation de musique unique dans son genre, L'Orignal est beaucoup plus qu'un restaurant local.
Dans l'ensemble, L'Orignal est décrit comme une adresse chaleureuse et conviviale où la cuisine et le service sont largement loués, avec des plats savoureux et bien exécutés, des spécialités comme la poutine à la truffe, le marrow et des tagliatelles qui séduisent, et des viandes braisées ou poissons qui impressionnent. Le cadre cosy et intime est perçu comme idéal pour les repas en têteàtête, en famille ou entre amis, et l'atmosphère générale est accueillante avec un service attentif. La qualité des plats, la créativité des propositions du chef et la constance du service reviennent fréquemment, ainsi que les mises en valeur des plats du jour et des découvertes du menu. Certaines remarques évoquent des petites déceptions: portions parfois modestes pour le prix, plats qui arrivent légèrement froids, ou des variations de rythme selon les soirées; la climatisation ou l'agencement des tables peuvent aussi être sources d'inconfort ponctuel. Malgré cela, l'avis global demeure très positif et présente L'Orignal comme un véritable joyau caché, une destination à revisiter lors des passages à Montréal et une valeur sûre pour des occasions variées.
Excellent restaurant à Montréal, à chaque fois qu'on est allé manger, tous est très bon du repas au service! L'incontournable entrecôte de boeuf viellis est à tester absolument!
Our new favourite! Kat & I loved everything from the warm & cozy wood cabin ambiance to the 80s music. The food was incredible, with every mouthful a delight. Service was friendly, accommodating, & attentive. Drinks (cocktails around $15) were excellent. It's quieter before 7:30 & the entrance is a bit off the beaten path (I did not see if there's an alternative, wheelchair-accessible entrance). We walked 9km in the downtown/old Montreal core, looking for a decent place to have dinner, & ironically, this one was just behind our hotel. Like, literally right behind it. We both chose from the daily specials. Kat had the sea bass, which had a parsnip puree & seafood chowder bed. It was fantastic & she loved every bite. I had the duck with pumpkin puree & a fantastic mole sauce. Dessert was an incredible sticky toffee pudding & a mousse that Kat was very cagey about sharing, it was that good. With the two entrees & desserts, a glass of wine & four cocktails, dinner came to a little over CDN$200. Service was perfectly attentive, with water being constantly refilled, empty glasses & plates taken promptly, & friendliness as warm as the ambiance. It's our new must go-to in Montreal.
Our dinner here was amazing. We started with the Oysters which were outstanding & very unique, was excited to try some from PEI as we rarely see them in New England. We each had specials for our mains & they were also very good & thoughtfully executed. Service was fantastic! We always try to visit new places when we are in Montreal but it will be hard not to stop back in to L'Original when we come back next year.
Pour notre sortie père/fille nous avons été charmé par ce restaurant! Elisa nous a donner un EXCELLENT service, en plus de nous conseiller 2 excellents vin! Le seul point que mon père a moins aimer, c'est qu'il y avait beaucoup de gras sur le porc qu'il a commander.. Mais sinon, les saveurs étaient au rendez-vous de l'entrée au dessert 🤍 284$ pour 2 entrées, 2 repas, 2 cocktail, 2 verres de vin BIEN remplis, 2 dessert & 2 café (on roulais en sortant de la !)
Such an amazing experience, the food is good the wine list is amazing BUT the best thing about this place is the service. People are kind sweet polite & funny which makes the experience like as if you are at family gathering
Honestly we were disappointed. A cosy restaurant & good service but the food was average & lacked imagination & flavour. We have been in Montreal for 7 days & eat out in good quality places every night so we have a baseline for above average food, sadly this was not in the above average group.

Sat at the bar & got chatting to the owner as he opened oysters. His attention to detail & quality was evident & is reflected in the excellent food & drink served here. I will be coming back.
Amazing restaurant in Montreal! The atmosphere is laid back & the food is simply delicious! All farm to table, the food was sooo good that I can't wait to go back to Montreal! I am dreaming of the shrimp in garlic butter! & the French fries with aioli-I can't take my mind off this food!
Warm atmosphere. Very pleasant service & attentive. Accommodating of English & friendly service, also delicious bison burger would recommend. Very good!
Visited with work colleagues & was very impressed. The service was first class. Didn't get the servers name but was a lovely lady that really coped well with 12 of us early Nov'23. Thank you for a great night. Food was amazing. I shared the steak which was excellent. The overall ambience of the place really made the evening.
