After reading positive reviews I was really hoping to like this place.
Overall the meal was not worth the money & food average. For example we got 2 skewers of lamb for $56. Each skewer had 6 very small slices (not chunks of meat) & not chops like in the photos. Meat was somewhat tough & unevenly cooked some were well done & others rare. Flavour was nothing special.
Waiter hyped the whole fish of the day which was Arctic char. It was dry & not flaky for $55. It was an okay size but nothing like steamed fish you get at Chinese restaurants which is tender & flaky. I didn't mind the sweet sauce but I prefer a Thai fried fish for sure. I think the frying dried out the fish.
The stuffed zucchini flowers were pretty ho hum. I was really looking forward to this too. The stuffing was shrimp paste which was bit rubbery & bland. I could not taste the flower. It was basically shrimp paste fried in batter. We got 2 orders of 2 on a plate. This cost $60 for 4 pieces to share among 6 people. I would pass on this if I were you.
The fried chicken with sauce on it was okay but reminded me of General Tao. I was hoping for something bit different or interesting.
The chicken wings stuffed with sausage was juicy & flavourful. First time I've had stuffed chicken wings so that was fun.
The sweetbreads were okay served with onions & watercress. I think the watercress was raw while sweet onions were lightly cooked. Sauce was nice too. Pieces of sweetbread were bite size. I am a huge fan of sweetbreads so you can do pretty much anything to them & I will like them The others at the table were not as enamoured with them as I was that is they were a little underwhelmed.
There were several dishes with sweet sauces that tasted similar. It would be nice to have more variety. There were no dishes that were very spicy for those who don't like spice or can't tolerate. NOTE all the sauces are pre-prepared so they can't adjust any of them to make less or more spicy. This was a bit disappointing.
The only thing we had which unanimously WOWED us was the eggplant salad. The dressing was super flavourful; the accompanying vegetables complemented the eggplant well & the eggplant was cooked to perfection. The size of the plate was good too with good amount of eggplant. The whole thing was delicious to point you wanted to lick the plate. Really the only thing I'd go back for. For this reason I regret not ordering the papaya salad too. Maybe this is where this restaurant shines.
The waiter was very nice & was telling us what to order & how many orders without really telling us much about what we would be getting. I don't think you want to be surprised getting 2 orders of lamb skewers & end up with thin slices of lamb on a stick.
As for the atmosphere it was not to my liking. The chairs are Soooo uncomfortable. Metal folding chairs really? For almost a $500 meal I think you can buy some comfortable chairs. Ventilation could be better. I just got through a week of wild fire smoke & then come to this restaurant to suck in more smoke.
You could also put signs on the restroom doors so you don't walk right past them into the kitchen!
It is very loud & we were shouting throughout the evening. We were 6 & I didn't always hear what was being said at the other end of the table & they weren't sitting that far away. In fact I couldn't even hearl the person in front of me either. So we were a bit hoarse by time we left.
I am beginning to wonder not just for this restaurant but many others with good Google ratings & reviews if they are manufactured or planted. I find restaurants get these glowing reviews & then the reality is quite different. This one sadly fits this category. For close to $500 I think pretty much the whole meal should be amazing & make you want to lick all the plates. Am I asking too much?
It was not a total loss. I am glad I tried Cambodian food.View more

Big shoutout to Hilary with her knowledge of the menu along with her friendly relaxed vibe. Another shoutout to our friend Erick for bringing us out of towners to Les Street Monkeys for dinner on Saturday night. From the papaya salad, to the cod in amok sauce, savoury grilled beef & chicken skewers & lamb chops. An interesting take on the bone marrow with the palate cleansing broth. All of it was so good! Wish we had room for the pork belly & the stuffed chicken wings! Delicious cocktails to wash it all down. Highly recommend eating here! Also, we were told about a pop-up collab that Chef Tota of Les Street Monkeys is doing with DaiLo in Toronto, so I'm hoping to make it out there!View more
Very cool spot , tried some awesome dishes & had a great time. The restaurant is very nice & clean inside. The staff was super friendly & did a great job. The food was very interesting & we enjoyed every dish. The stuffed chicken wings with the house hotsauce were very good! The shrimp ceviche was really cool too the wasabi flavour was crazy ?View more
I have been several times, & am never disappointed. The food is so flavourful & delicious. The stuffed chicken wings are to die for. The fish amok is also a win, but would have liked a little more sauce on the plate. The lamb was scrumptious as well. The papaya salad was a little underwhelming, it missed a little oomph even though we asked for it spicy. A pet peeve i have when i go to a SHARING restaurant is when they serve you an odd number in the plate. 3 wings, 3 lamb chops. I mean, I nearly had to fight my companion, but in the end we split them equitably. :) The drinks are also very good.View more
Really cool space with fantastic food. We got the steak (forgot to take a picture), squid, veggies, & stuffed wings. The steak was packed with flavor. Absolutely delicious. The squid was perfectly cooked.View more
Popped in on a busy Friday night. Despite having no reservations we were promptly set up with a table & walked through the menu. I think at some point half the staff was at our table for something & they were all attentive & personable. Great crew working that night. The wings were crispy & I'd do some shady stuff for the recipe for the sauce. If they have the house-made sausages, you owe it to yourself to try them (& I'm not even a sausage fan).View more
A must visit in Montreal. Anything you order it does not fail to deliver. Server was extremely friendly. We always stay at the chef's table, so we can see how they prepare the food. The chefs are very professional & attentive. The stuffed wings & skewers are a must!View more
Can't even explain the food here. So good. Do it if you can. Don't forget the stuffed wings or bone marrow.View more
Delicious food & amazing ambiance!!! The pork sausage stuffed chicken wings were unlike anything I've ever had. Everything was just super tasty, delicious, well presented. Friendly & helpful waiter!View more
We enjoyed our first visit & want to come back to try more delicious & flavourful dishes!! I would recommend the SAUTEED GREENS, STUFFED CHICKEN WINGS, WASABI SHRIMP CEVICHE, FRIED PAPAYA SALAD. We had the YUZU SNOOZE YUZU LOSE & PEARL NECKLACE drinks; delicious & refreshing :) The Crème Brûlée for dessert was amazing!! Thank you!
The food is always the highlight when we visit Street Monkeys. The dishes come out in a timely manner & are always delicious. I highly recommend the papaya salad & the stuffed chicken wings amongst other things. Cocktails are decent. The hostess who seems to be a manager (I think) is lovely. I didn't catch her name but she always has a smile & is very accommodating considering they are usually packed. Definitely one of my favourite Asian restaurants & puts Cambodia on the map!View more
No words can describe how good the food & drinks are here. Not a single bite that wasn't absolutely delicious. The stuffed chicken wings are unreal!View more
I had this restaurant on "my list" for the last year. Perhaps i hyped it up a bit too much so i was a tad disappointed. However at the same time still enjoyed it. The food was quite good but not mind blowing. The crispy spicy sweet fried chicken & stuffed (with pork) chicken wings are the best two items on the menu! The restaurant is nicely decorated, music not too loud & the service was great.View more
Fantastic meal & the service was top shelf. Squid & stuffed chicken wings were sublime. Highly recommendView more
Everything was sooo good. Loved the wings, ceviche, cole slaw, lamb chops, & noodles.
Super flavourful dishes. We got stuffed wings, chicken & beef screwers, mee Siam & steak. Every single dish was so delicious. The cocktails are also very good. Now my favourite south East Asian restaurant in Montreal & will definitely come back. The service is also very good.
fabulous food & fabulous service! a definite must! the stuffed chicken wings are nothing like I've ever had & the Pearl necklace (or pearl something!) cocktail amazing!
