Excellente nourriture, excellent service & belle ambiance.
We were two & took the 5 courses. You have the selection to pick one option for each course, we decided to try all of it. The prices on the side is for the à la carte, if you don't want a tasting menu & decide to order individual plates.
I really wasn't a fan of the seared sturgeon lobster bisque, the fish was really rubbery & the bisque tasted like it was cooked for a long time. I was told that's the nature of the fish, that it is a tougher fish meat. If that's the case, then I don't like sturgeon haha! They were very nice & offered a replacement so I chose the salmon dish. That dish was good but nothing to rave about.
The saving grace was the PB&J dessert, it punched way above its weight. I would only come back for this. It should always be on the menu but unfortunately the menu changes often.
Service is 5/5, very professional & welcoming. Food is 2/5, the combination of flavours didn't mesh or it's just not my type of food profile 🤷🏻?♀? . My reason for the 3.5 score
(August Review)2022 A decent Place . I really liked the starter Appetizers! I liked the dessert. SERVICE GREAT.Nice Location. Will be Great to Explore the Rest of their Menu as I live Nearby!888(September Review) Photo's with Vina Tondinia September Wonderful Cauliflower starter with a Nice Veal & Duck liver Main Finishing with a Fantastic dessert Blue cheese. Blue berries & Maple Syrup all complemented with a Nice Magnum 2006vintage. July 2026 Food & appetizers have Greatly Improved!! Got Cavier Now!!
Les Oiseaux is a wonderful French restaurant with a seasonal, market-driven menu with European & Mediterranean influences. We ended our meal with a selection of desserts, & every single one was outstanding. The chocolate fondant was perfectly rich with a molten center, the crème brûlée had a beautifully crisp caramelized top with a silky custard underneath, & full of flavor. Even the small sweet bites to finish the meal were a lovely touch.
You can tell the pastry program receives just as much care & attention as the savory dishes. The presentation was elegant, the flavors were balanced, & nothing was overly sweet. Combined with the warm service & cozy atmosphere, Les Oiseaux delivered a memorable dining experience. If you have room for dessert, don't skip it-you'll regret it!
The four of were excited to dine at Les Oiseaux based on the reviews & photos. We were terribly disappointed. We started with 3 appetizers. On a positive the asparagus was excellent & the green salad was lovely, the venison heart was bland & underwhelming. Two of us had the lamb shank which was served d on a glaze (for lack of a better word) that was so strong & salty, that it was inedible. The sides were bland & unimaginative, mashed potatoes & cooked carrots & not even a suggestion of a garnish. The Duck was also served with an overpowering glaze & the same side veg. The veal was average, the side a little more appealing, a medley of veg & something indiscernible. Dessert, the chocolate volcano was fine but the apple dessert was shockingly over powered by pepper. The waiter was pleasant but clearing of the plates & scraping them at the table side was unacceptable. We were reluctant to write this review as we believe it is under new ownership but felt that constructive criticism was warranted.
On reviendra !
We had a great experience with a family dinner here. The restaurant was very accommodating of our food issues, including providing gluten free meals. We felt like they took our food issues very seriously while providing us an excellent meal. We particularly enjoyed the smoked salmon, asparagus & feta salad & gazpacho appetizers, the lamb shank & guinea fowl mains, & all of the desserts! We will definitely return, & highly recommend Les Oiseaux to anyone with food allergies/sensitivities looking for a fine dining experience in Montreal.
We visited Les Oiseaux back in June 2023 & we still think about it weekly so I'm taking a minute to write a review. If you're reading this & considering a visit, the focaccia bread alone is enough to drop whatever you're doing & get a table. It is without question the best piece of bread I've ever had. Everything from appetizers to entrees to dessert was incredible. We especially loved the entrees; I highly recommend the venison. We sat outside & brought a bottle of wine. We had perfect weather, our server was great & very attentive, & I can't think of a single complaint. If you have just one night in Montreal, eat here.
