Small lineup at Les Givrés on a weekend afternoon. They have two other locations in town (Hochelaga & Vieux-Rosemont). Only 6 people allowed in at a time with no sampling. 8 ice cream, 6 sorbet & two vegan flavours along with a weekly rotating soft serve. Scoops were $3.48 (1/2 scoop) to $6.74 (3 scoops).
- La tournée ($7.61) - 6 flavour tasting flight. Went with lime, mangue, fraise-rhubarbe, matcha sora, poire vanillée & framboise. Matcha was surprisingly very melty; more matcha latte than true matcha. Best of the sorbets were the mango & raspberry
Nice ice cream, the service was very gentle, but I didn't liked what I chosed. It was some kind of little box with 3 flavors, covered in whipped cream. The whipped cream was very tastefull & covered the rest of the flavors, so I couldn't really enjoy them. I found it overpriced for the experience I had.
Anyway.. maybe I will go back & try something else.
Delicious ice cream! The twists are amazing & I loved the collab with AlloSimone
So far i've tried the masala chai takehome pint that i found at LOCO plateau a few days ago. It was incredible for vegan ice cream, tasted like gingerbread cookies but not too sweet & was made with a local supplier of oat milk concentrate called DAM & all healthy ingredients. I stumbled on the Villeray shop today when walking around doing errands. They have 3 vegan flavours , lots reg ice cream & sorbets . I got the quebec camerises & quebec wild blueberries sorbets in a waffle cone which complemented each other really well & was a perfect consistency & balance of flavours & it came in a decent portion for the price
Truly Artisanal Ice Cream in Montreal 🍨
This place is a gem! If you're an ice cream lover looking for quality over quantity & flavor over fluff, Les Givrés in Villeray should be on your list. We tried their mini & multi-scoop sampler bowls - perfect for discovering their wide variety of flavors.
⭐ What We Loved:
• Flavors that blew us away:
• Poire Vanillée (Vanilla Pear) - so refreshing & lightly floral.
• Pistachio - nutty, creamy, & not overly sweet.
• Bleuet/Cassis Sorbet (Blueberry/Blackcurrant) - bright, tart, & vibrant!
• Unique & adventurous picks:
They're not afraid to get creative - black garlic, ginger, & even Masala Chai (yes, a real chai flavor!) made with bold spices. These are small-batch, chef-inspired creations, & you can really taste the craftsmanship in every scoop.
• Vegan & dairy-free options:
They have a decent selection of vegan-friendly flavors clearly marked - like the Banarama & Caramel O'cacao. Great if you're skipping dairy.
• Not too sweet:
Every flavor we tried tasted natural & not overloaded with sugar - feels like a guilt-free treat (well almost 😉).
🍦 Format & Pricing:
• You can choose from mini cups to 3-scoop combos. Prices range from ~$3.50 to ~$6.75 (very fair for this quality).
• Extras include toppings like brownie, almonds, sauces, or whipped cream.
• You can also grab bars, floats, sandwiches, or their signature'Roteux' treat.
🍨 Tip: Get the tasting tray!
• It comes with 6 mini scoops, each a different flavor the perfect way to explore their menu.
🪑 Ambience & Location:
• There's a cozy indoor space & a few spots to sit nearby very relaxed vibe.
• Street parking is usually available around the corner. Perfect for a short walk.
Highly recommend this spot.
Keep calm & enjoy ice cream 🙏
The only ice cream shop in Montreal that can truly claim to be artisanal. Many trendy places throw the word'natural' around but we have no idea what we are consuming. This place is transparent, the ingredients are listed on their website as well as on the containers to-go. Well done! This should honestly be a norm. If you aren't able to wait in the long lines, at peak times, come at a calmer time of day & take a container to-go.
Artisanal ice cream from Montreal. Everything is home made, from the cornet to the chocolate sauce & obviously the ice cream. Mostly made with Quebec products. No added colours or flavours & no air inside it.
The ice cream is fine. Honestly though, I don't understand the hype around it. The prices are similar to any specialty ice cream places in Montreal, like Kem Coba. & the quality is there too. But I just cannot get to enjoy it for what I'm paying. I tried the collaboration with Pain Dans Les Voiles where the cone is basically a croissant. It didn't feel special like I was expecting it to. They could've add more chocolate, or something else to give more taste to it.
Got a soft serve cone & a sampler tray to split between 2 people. Both the soft serve & ice cream were delicious. Staff was very friendly.
It's one of the best soft-serves in town. They have a great ice-cream scoop assortments, but the spotlight will always be the delicious soft-serve which is usually a twist of vanilla ice-cream with a seasonal (mostly local) fruit sorbet. I've tasted rhubarb, sour cherries, raspberry, honeysuckle & more. So get your fave & go outside where you have a pedestrian-only street during summer, with plenty of benches & green around.
best ice cream ever! REALLY recommend the soft serve (even the vanilla is so flavorful but their monthly special rn is raspberry which was sooo good) also loved the banana republic & pistachio:) pear & vanilla is an amazing sorbet too 10 arugulas out of 10 🥬🥬🥬🥬🥬🥬🥬🥬🥬🥬
Best ice cream in Montreal! Delicious & creamy ice cream. Everything I have tried there is really good. I don't recommend the pistachio, it was the least tasty I've had. Long live république des bananes!
Best vegan ice cream in Montreal. You can even have it with cocoa cones. Love going back every week to have a new vegan flavor.
