It was a good place to get authentic Montreal Smoked Meat sandwiches. Portions were large enough to fill you & it was all reasonably priced. A smoked meat sandwich with fries & a drink costed us $22 each.
There was a street festival going on which gave us a more better experience.
4 stars for their smoked meat. Sadly their poutine was disappointing (basically sauce & fries, two cheese curds)
The atmosphere is nice.
I ordered the club roll combo with drink. The sandwich was delicious, good portion 😋 so was the fries & pickles. Very attentive & friendly service. Love it 😊
Had a great experience. Had all the hallmarks of a cosy diner. Classic red booths ✅ Friendly & kind waitress who has been here for almost 2 decades ✅ nice fresh classic food ✅ encouragement to linger & talk even once you're done eating & paid ✅.we ordered the classic smoked meat sandwich, the bacon egg & cheese, & the cheesecake. Everything was delicious! This place is dey recommended.
Le Roi du Smoked Meat on a friend's recommendation, & overall, it was a mixed experience. The location is great - right on a busy corner & close to the metro, making it super convenient to get to. The diner-style interior is clean, well-lit, & welcoming, with friendly & attentive staff who made us feel comfortable right away.
I ordered the smoked meat platter, & the meat itself was excellent. The texture was spot on, the seasoning was well-balanced, & the flavor was exactly what you'd hope for in a Montreal smoked meat experience. However, the portion & pricing left a lot to be desired.
The platter included about the same amount of meat as a large sandwich, a modest serving of fries (maybe one potato's worth), a small portion of shredded green cabbage as coleslaw, a single slice of pickle (not a whole one), & a few slices of bread. While everything tasted great, it didn't feel like a $30 meal after tax & tip.
Unfortunately, this seems to be a common issue with smoked meat spots in Montreal - delicious food but pricing that feels out of sync with what you actually get. If you're craving top-quality smoked meat & don't mind the splurge, this place delivers on flavor. But if value for money is a priority, you might walk away feeling a bit shortchanged.
Le Roi du Smoked Meat always offers excellent hot & tender smoked meat on fresh rye bread.
I had the trio with fries. ,coleslaw, 1/4 pickle & a soft drink for only 15.95. This is a special for weekday lunches from 11am until 3pm. (please confirm with the restaurant). They also make excellent club sandwiches. Service is always 5 star. Opened late.
We had the Smoked Meat Special. The smoked meat was tender & juicy but lacked a smoked taste. The coleslaw was good & so was the pickle. Was very disappointed with the frozen fries, that is why I gave 4 star for the food. The waitress was great, fast & efficient with a smile.
Le Roi du Smoked Meat is my comfort food goto whenever I'm in the neighborhood. The best smoked meat of anywhere in Montreal. Their Special Smoked Meat Sandwich come with the best fresh cut fries & the very best coleslaw of anywhere. The food is plain, simple, ample, & absolutely delicious. The portions are generous. The prices are reasonable. The service is fast & friendly. It ain't no fancy place, but in my opinion, it's the best smoked meat place in town. Located on Montreal's famous St. Huberts street, yes where St Hubert's chicken got its start, the street is famous for its food, fashion, & lounges. That's where you will find one of the oldest & greatest Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich of anywhere in Montreal. Ready for this - I rate Le Roi du Smoke Meat 6 out of 5 mustaches for its perfection & longevity. Long live the KING (ROI)!
Got recommended by a friend to grab a quick bite before going out. Great food & fast service for the price. Will absolutely come again.
The kitchen looked spotless. They have a large menu selection & we tried the burgers & submarines. The burger was very disappointing, it was clearly one of those frozen Angus patties because the meat was clearly not mixed, I could see the strands of minced meat. The submarines were good but everyone got heartburn after. The poutine is ok. Seats are very close together & benches are tight. The dining area looks drab & dirty. Walls are peeling, fruit flies everywhere. We even saw a bug that looked like a bed bug coming from the bench. I think this place should be visited for smoked meat mostly & for take out. Staff is super nice & helpful. Not a handicap friendly place. Long set of stairs to get to the bathrooms.
Our young server that spoke English with glasses (I'm sorry I don't remember your name dear) was kind, courteous, & amazing! The smoked meat was great & not to be missed! The negative is that the place is dated & they need to do some freshening up. That being said, it's clean & not a reason not to go for the food or the smoked meats, actually. The fries that came with the foods were standard fries frozen from a bag, so it did not make the poutine very impressive.
Ordered smoked meat & a poutine, service was good & prompt. Smoked meat was very good but the poutine was average at best. Eatable but not the freshest. Pretty sure fries are frozen & cheese was not same day fresh. Overall value was good.
The smoked meat sandwiches were scrumptious. To my taste, the fries were not crispy enough. Service wise it took a while for us to get served (a good 15-20 minutes wait). The atmosphere was okay, the place is a bit echo so it can be difficult for someone sensitive of earring.
I think this is the best place for smoked meat. Everything I've had there was very good. Except their fries.
Food was very good Service was good but after talking with my French husband & then releasing I do not speak French there was a eye roll. Additionally she charged us for a combo with alcoholic drinks when none of us actually had even pop just water. We did not have time to fight about it as we were late for something but 5 waters & 5 sandwiches with fries costed us 114.00
One of the best sandwich I've ever had in my life. the meat is really juicy & flavorful. Fries were really crispy. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're going to visit Montréal
Old school deli where the menu hasn't really changed in 50 years & that's ok. There's not many places like this left in Mtl. Nothing fancy here but the food is good, hearty, staff is friendly & competent, & prices are reasonable. The smoked meat super special deal is still one of the best in the city: 1lb smoked meat, 1 loaf bread, + trimmings for 30$
We went to try the famous smoke meat sandwich & it didn't disappoint. Sandwiches & pizzas are the best, if you visit during 11am-3pm they have lunch combos at great prices. Menu has many options & service is friendly & quick.
