I got takeout so I can't really comment on the atmosphere, but the lovely elderly woman at the cash recommended their special & it did not disappoint! It was SO delicious! The smoked meat was tender & really moist (sorry). My husband doesn't like smoked meat as a rule, but even he said it was delicious. I had the special & it was super affordable at $20! A steal in this economy. Next time I go to Montreal I will be going back for sure!
I ordered a chicken noodle & the waitress assured me it was good. The broth was good but the noodles were like little pieces of wet kleenex. Very overcooked! The vegetable salad I ordered was excellent. Even though I returned the soup the waitress made me pay for it. So I will not order soup again. Please, please do something with the bathroom, it appalling. The bathroom is in the basement. The smell of javex is very strong, & the bathroom looks awful. it's cold & looks like a dungeon. C I

Honestly, I can't say anything about the food as I didn't eat here. We sat down, I took a look at the menu & I just couldn't eat there. It was very expensive, the place was dingy & although the staff was very pleasant I just couldn't eat there. I can't tell you why. It was also my birthday & I just didn't feel like that place was going to do the occasion justice. Maybe the food is great...I honestly can't say.
A Montreal institution, the quality of their smoked meat has never wavered. Although prices have gone up across the board, they're still relatively affordable here. It remains one of my favourite eateries in the city.

The food was amazing! The poutine really surprised me! & the waiter, Nathalie, is really nice, she deserves a raise fr. Atmosphere: very welcoming. Very good place guys.
La nourriture est de qualité , préparée avec soin ... année après année ... décennie après décennie. Le Roi du Smoke Meat est un Trésor pour Montréal . Milles Mercis ❤️
