Le Petit Sao is described as a favorite, affordable spot with tasty Vietnamese fare, a bright, cozy atmosphere, and friendly, efficient service. Diners highlight generous portions, fresh ingredients, and a menu that makes vegan options easy, making it a reliable go to for lunch or takeout. The ambiance is often noted as warm and relaxing, with a calm, sunny dining room that suits a casual meal, while some visits are marked by inconsistent welcome and a less polished front of house, including comments about staff attire and demeanor on occasion. Yet the food remains praised for quality, with flavors that feel balanced and comforting, and several reviewers call the place among the best Vietnamese spots in town. Overall, Le Petit Sao comes across as a beloved local favorite for good value, flavorful dishes, and a cozy vibe that keeps people coming back.
Visited today for lunch with a strong craving for soup - & I was not disappointed. The soup was very good, comforting, & satisfying.
That said, there are definitely things to mention regarding the welcome & the service. If I'm not mistaken, there were at least 4 or 5 staff members (I can't say for sure since not everyone was dressed the same).
One of the staff members, a girl without any official uniform, may have been the manager. She clearly did not look happy to be there. Another staff member was wearing a tracksuit & what looked like indoor slippers - uggs - I actually bought the same kind for my girlfriend to wear at home. I didn't manage to notice everyone, but the overall impression was not professional. How is this supposed to be professional? Even at Tim Hortons, the staff isn't like that.
The welcome was very cold, & the atmosphere felt uncomfortable. I couldn't tell whether this is supposed to be a healthy neighborhood restaurant or a fast-food place where the staff doesn't enjoy working & shows up dressed however they want. Especially since this is a restaurant chain, the least one would expect is a consistent uniform & basic standards.
The service itself was cold, with little to no interaction or interest in customers. Thankfully, the food is good & of solid quality for the price.
Next time, I'll order takeout - I'd rather tip the delivery driver than the so-called'waiters ».
