Le Pégase is a charming and cozy hidden gem in Montreal known for its traditional French cuisine and welcoming atmosphere. Guests frequently praise the restaurant for its high-quality, generously portioned set menus that offer exceptional value, making it a favorite for special occasions and regular dining alike. As a bring your own wine establishment, it provides a unique and cost-effective experience that many diners find memorable. While the space is intimate and can become quite lively, the attentive service and consistently delicious dishes, such as the braised beef, duck breast, and signature desserts, ensure that most visitors leave satisfied and eager to return.
If you're looking for a Montreal gem. This is the place. Unassuming. Unpretentious. Excellent French food done right without breaking the bank. We had the 4 course meal & was very full! Worth it!
16 min walk from subway, it is in the residential area. Price are good & food are serving in good presentation. Don't expect a very good service like other French restaurants.
A lovely little French restaurant with a warm, home-made feeling.
The food was fresh, flavorful & thoughtfully balanced. I had the salad, foie gras & fish of the day, & really enjoyed all three. We also shared & tried several other dishes, & everything felt carefully prepared without being overly complicated or pretentious.
What I liked most was the atmosphere. It feels a little like having dinner in someone's family backyard - cozy, relaxed & unhurried. It's the kind of place I would choose to come with close friends or family, where you can enjoy good food & conversation without feeling rushed.
Even the small restroom had its own speaker playing lovely music - such a tiny detail, but somehow it added to the charm of the place.
Good food, a comfortable atmosphere, & a very personal touch. I would happily come back.
The most affordable (& very good) french food in montreal by far. The place is very low-key, which I love. Staff are friendly & attentive. I'd definitely come back to this place & recommend this to friends from out of town.
Very nice place in a nice Neighbourhood. We watched a Theatre show nearby & walked over here for dinner & it was a good experience. All the staff ride from the beginning to the end there were three different people, & they all took care of us. We had three different French dishes with some chicken & it was amazing.
Le Pegase is our favorite French restaurant in Montreal for ever visit. cozy, intimate, & the perfect place to enjoy an authentic French dining experience.
My husband & I visited at least 3 times during our 3.5 months living in MTL :) Unpretentious, chill, ambient, affordable but with excellent quality of food. They won't rush you like most of the resto by having a dinning time limit, & you can bring your own wine!
I never really went to french bistro after I came back to Vancouver ;( Miss this place so much 🍷
Great for pretending you're in Paris - minus the space, plus the BYOB. 🍷
Parking around this spot can be quite tricky. The food quality is decent - they serve a fixed menu concept, but with enough choices to keep things interesting. Big portion for Asian appetite
To be fair, for the price you pay, the food is more than reasonable. The real highlight is definitely that it is BYOB! We brought 3 bottles with no corkage fee…
The place is extremely small, truly giving off the vibe of a cozy Parisian bistro.
Would I go back? Probably not, since Montreal has so many other great French restaurants to choose from.
The restaurant doesn't open every day, so it's best to make a reservation in advance. It serves very traditional French cuisine with simple but solid ingredients - especially generous portions of meat. The set menu comes to about $80+ per person after tax. The restaurant is quite small but cozy, with a warm atmosphere. Every dish was delicious, & even ordering without much thought felt safe - nothing disappoints here.
