Review Summary

Le Pégase offers a welcoming and intimate dining experience, celebrated for its traditional French cuisine and excellent value as a bring-your-own-wine establishment. Many guests praise the generous portions, consistently well-prepared meat dishes like lamb and bison, and thoughtful service that often makes visitors feel like family. While the restaurant is compact and can get lively, it remains a favorite neighborhood destination for those seeking a cozy, authentic atmosphere, provided that reservations are made in advance to secure a spot in this popular local gem.

Very nice place in a nice Neighbourhood. We watched a Theatre show nearby & walked over here for dinner & it was a good experience. All the staff ride from the beginning to the end there were three different people, & they all took care of us. We had three different French dishes with some chicken & it was amazing.

My husband & I visited at least 3 times during our 3.5 months living in MTL :) Unpretentious, chill, ambient, affordable but with excellent quality of food. They won't rush you like most of the resto by having a dinning time limit, & you can bring your own wine!

I never really went to french bistro after I came back to Vancouver ;( Miss this place so much 🍷

Great for pretending you're in Paris - minus the space, plus the BYOB. 🍷

Parking around this spot can be quite tricky. The food quality is decent - they serve a fixed menu concept, but with enough choices to keep things interesting. Big portion for Asian appetite

To be fair, for the price you pay, the food is more than reasonable. The real highlight is definitely that it is BYOB! We brought 3 bottles with no corkage fee…

The place is extremely small, truly giving off the vibe of a cozy Parisian bistro.

Would I go back? Probably not, since Montreal has so many other great French restaurants to choose from.

The restaurant doesn't open every day, so it's best to make a reservation in advance. It serves very traditional French cuisine with simple but solid ingredients - especially generous portions of meat. The set menu comes to about $80+ per person after tax. The restaurant is quite small but cozy, with a warm atmosphere. Every dish was delicious, & even ordering without much thought felt safe - nothing disappoints here. Le Pégase is one of the top French restaurants in the city. You get a set menu to choose 4 dishes (soup/salad, entree, main dish & dessert) & meal is priced as per the main course. The dishes are fresh, unique & totally worth the money. The place is incredibly small & usually packed (because of how good it is) which means that it's difficult to have a conversation without overhearing other tables. I would definitely come back here for special occasions.

- Bread: Cold, butter softened, chicken liver pate - phenomenal. I could eat it all.
- Soup. Rutabaga, very clean, flavourful & perfect hotness for the mouth.
- The froe grois: Cold like a stick of butter.
- Creamy, smooth, bread was lightly toast very airy. Apricot citrus balance & roasted peanuts.
- Duck breast: cooked medium, it could be rarer. Flavour was on point. Very full with the potato like root in bottom. Crispy skin. Demi-glaze. Beans carrots & Bok choy.
- Crème brûlée: thin sugar brûlée on top. Creme was creamy with a touch of French vanilla. Maple syrup.
- Chocolate mousse : nice presentation, too sweet. It didn't need the extra caramel or chocolate sauce on top. The peanuts complimented the texture & taste.

The portion size for each dish is very generous. Cost to Quality to quantity 👍🏻👍🏻
We noticed many people brought their own wine to pair with the food.

Food came out quickly, after each dish was served.

Restaurant is very cozy & quaint. There is barely any room between the neighbouring tables. When the server was at the other table, his butt bumped into my arm twice. It was rather firm.

I would Highly Recommend it this restaurant to everyone.
I will come back.

A tiny restaurant in suburban Montreal with the best French bistro food. We loved everything we ate. It is a fixed price 3 course meal & BYO for alcohol
